Chapter 87: The Bamboo Squeeze
Su Ying did not rush back, but walked to another path outside the muddy road. As soon as she walked over, she saw a group of people gathered not far ahead.
"Everyone stand still, what are you fighting for? If anyone fights, they will get nothing."
Su Ying thought about it and decided to walk over. After she squeezed to the center of the crowd, she saw a young man with several large winnowing baskets in front of him. Someone couldn't wait to open the winnowing baskets, and she could see that they were filled with rice and flour.
"Everyone, step back. If anyone dares to squeeze in and grab something, don't even think about buying anything from me in the future."
When those people heard what the young man said, they all stopped and took a step back obediently.
The young man then opened the lid of the dustpan and said, "One by one, how many do you want?"
"I want five pounds of cornmeal."
"Okay, five pounds of cornmeal." The young man weighed the flour and handed it to the other party.
The other party took out nearly two hundred copper coins from his pocket and gave them to him.
Then the people behind will buy it.
Su Ying had heard about the prices here from Wang Su and the others before, so she was not surprised.
What she was more curious about was where the money in these people's hands came from.
The young man kept selling without stopping for a moment, and soon all the items in several large baskets were sold out.
The man counted the money happily.
Su Ying walked over when she saw this. The man glanced at the shadow on the ground and said without even looking up, "Today's stock is all sold out. If you want to buy, come back in half a month."
Su Ying's expression paused slightly. With the little bit of food those people just bought, even if they only ate it once a day, it would not last more than half a month.
“I’m not here to buy anything.”
When the man heard this, he quickly put the money in his hand away, then looked up and stared at Su Ying warily.
He looked Su Ying up and down and said, "What are you going to do? If you want to rob my money, you have to ask the other people in the Tiger Camp if they agree. They have to buy their rations from me. If I get angry and stop buying, no one will have anything to eat. Then they can drown you with their spit."
"According to you, you are the only trafficker in this tiger camp?"
The man raised his chin proudly and said, "That's right. In the entire Tiger Camp, I am the only one who can get a bite of food for a vicious person like you."
Su Ying raised her eyebrows, "Just that thing just now?"
The man scoffed, "Are you new here?"
"yes."
"No wonder you don't know the rules. I've traveled all over the country, and I sell more than just these few things."
"Where did you get this from?"
"Hey, you new guy really don't know the rules. I can't tell you. Come on, I'm done selling. I don't want to talk nonsense with you. I'm leaving now."
Su Ying called the man over and said, "Wait, can you help carry the things here?"
"Help, as long as you can afford the money."
"Even animals can do that?"
The man smiled nonchalantly and said, "Except for the stars in the sky, I can get you anything else as long as you can afford it."
"Okay, I want ten chicks, ten ducklings, and ten goslings. I also want ten kilograms of vegetable and corn seeds for each person. How much do you want?"
The man frowned and counted on his fingers, saying, "10 taels of silver, give me five taels as a deposit first, and I'll pay the rest after I get the goods."
If Su Ying had not bought a lot of things before, she would not have known that the man was extorting so much money. Ten taels of silver was enough for her to buy a hundred items.
But Su Ying still took out five taels of silver from her pocket.
“When will you pick up the goods?”
"The earliest it will take is ten days. Come find me here in ten days."
"good."
The man took the money and turned away.
"You go back first." Su Ying said to the bandit leader.
The bandit leader dared not disobey and responded obediently immediately.
Su Ying watched the man turn the corner and quickly followed him.
After the man carried the winnowing basket into a narrow path, he walked crookedly to a yard. The yard was obviously different from other earthen houses. The entire yard and even the walls were made of blue bricks. It was obvious that it was a wealthy family in the Tiger Camp.
The man hummed an unknown tune and walked to the yard and knocked on the door. After a while, someone opened the door and let him in.
Su Ying watched the man enter the yard and did not leave immediately. Instead, she walked around the yard. When she was sure that there was only one gate in the entire yard, she climbed in from the backyard.
The yard is large but empty, with two two-story buildings in front and back.
Su Ying approached the house and heard a charming female voice, "How much money did the master earn today?"
"I don't know. I don't know."
"Master is really amazing."
"It's because I, your master, am so capable." The man's voice sounded very proud.
The woman continued, “Master, where did you get those goods from?
It seems that as long as we figure out this person's supply channels, we will know where those supplies come from.
Su Ying left the yard, made a special mark outside the courtyard wall, and then returned home.
By this time, it was already dark, and the soldiers who had gone to the mountains to chop wood were returning one after another.
As soon as Lian Jun entered the yard, he saw a group of unfamiliar faces working. For a moment, countless expressions flashed across their faces, including surprise, anger, and uneasiness. Finally, his complicated eyes fell on Su Ying who was walking in the yard.
"Madam, do we have another helper?" Number One felt that what he said was very appropriate and clever, and Su Ying would definitely not be able to hear his little thoughts.
Unexpectedly, Su Ying just glanced at him calmly and said, "Don't worry, I don't eat human flesh."
Number One's face tightened and he smiled awkwardly. The corpses in the wooden building did leave him with some psychological trauma. Perhaps he was also afraid that someone as powerful and abnormal as Su Ying would have such a special hobby!
As long as he can still do hard labor, No. 1 feels that the world is still a beautiful place!
"Ma'am, how are you hurt? Come on, come into the house."
Mother Zhao came out of the house and saw the wound on Su Ying's arm at a glance.
Su Ying lowered her eyes and saw four obvious scratches on her arm, with thick black blood constantly flowing out.
Su Ying had taken medicine to block the toxin when she and the deaf woman entered the yard, so she didn't notice anything unusual about the wound when she was doing it just now. Now, she saw that the toxin on the deaf woman's claws was quite strong.
"Don't worry, it's just a minor injury, I can handle it myself."
Su Ying was just about to walk up the wooden steps when suddenly her vision went dark and she fell straight down.
"Mother!"
"lady!"
