Chapter 232: Even Harder to Serve
"Do you have a name?"
The Green Guardian shook his head, "Green slaves don't have names, and no one in the city has a name."
"Can you laugh?"
The Green Protector was stunned again, and pulled the corners of his mouth in embarrassment. It was true that his smile was uglier than crying.
"Crying?"
The Green Protector tried hard to purse his lips, feeling a strange little emotion in his heart. He silently felt that the city lord in front of him was more difficult to serve than the previous queen. They... had long lost the ability to laugh or cry.
Su Ying looked at him with a hint of sadness in her eyes. She had no expression on her face and only negative emotions. She was even worse than a marionette, who could still make people laugh when the strings were pulled.
"Come here and sit down." Su Ying turned back to the hall, asked Green Protector to sit down and held out her hand.
The Green Guardian did as he was told without any questions.
Su Ying reached out to feel his pulse. She wanted to know why they turned into a pool of blood after death.
After some investigation, Su Ying looked at him with a more complicated look, "What else do you give to the children in training besides the dry food every day?"
“Holy water.”
"Anything else? Show it to me."
"yes."
The Green Protector responded and then stepped out. Not long after, he came back holding a palm-sized pottery jar.
"City Lord, this is holy water."
Su Ying reached out to take it. At a glance, the water in the jar was glowing with a faint blue light and had a sweet smell.
She reached out, took a little and put it in her mouth to taste it; it was still sweet.
“Is this what you drink every day?”
"Yes, this is what His Majesty prepared for us personally. As long as you drink it, you won't get sick."
Su Ying sneered, "The most vicious poison has entered your body, what else can invade your body?"
Su Ying didn't dare to think about how many innocent people these three perverted queens had killed. That was not some damn holy water at all. It was clearly a drug containing all five poisons. Although the content was very, very low, it could still be fatal.
"Didn't a lot of people die soon after drinking the holy water?"
"Yes, His Majesty said that it was because they were not holy enough, so they were taken by the gods."
Su Ying smiled coldly. This kind of poison was used to create poisonous people. No wonder even anesthetics were ineffective on them.
Because of drinking it for many years, it is almost impossible for these people's bodies to return to normal. The venom has already penetrated into the bone marrow and completely integrated into the body.
"Don't drink anymore from now on."
"yes."
"Do you still have this holy water?"
“No more, this is all that is left. Your Majesty used to distribute it to the slaves regularly, and this is the last one.
Afterwards, Su Ying left the palace and planned to visit the residential area, but when passing by the training ground, she thought of the beasts in the woods.
"How did you feed those wild animals before?"
"Report to the city lord, I will release them regularly and call them back after they have found food and are full."
"They won't kill each other?"
"Yes, but you can't eat it, or you will die."
Su Ying nodded suddenly. She had forgotten that the poison in the bodies of those wild beasts was even worse than that of these people.
The residential area is on the east side, separated from the palace by a high wall.
Su Ying had never come here to take a close look before.
After entering through the gate under the wall, Su Ying felt a lively atmosphere.
There were quite a few people who came with them this time. During the days when she was sick, everyone cleaned up the previously vacant houses and moved in.
Most of the houses here are built with stones or blue bricks. Although many of them are quite old, after some repairs, they are still much more solid than the wooden houses they lived in before.
Hu Wei found a relatively large house among the private households and settled down there, and his people settled around the house.
Su Ying walked outside the house and looked up to see a plaque hanging on the house. The plaque seemed to be pieced together and looked a bit funny. "Qiao's House, shouldn't it be Tiger Camp?"
"Madam Su... No, that's not right. It's the city lord. City lord, you are here. Come in quickly." After receiving the message from the gatekeeper, Qiao Yang ran out anxiously.
Su Ying nodded and followed him into the house.
The floor of the house was paved with blue bricks. Although some places were damaged, it was not difficult to tell that this must have been a wealthy family before.
Hu Wei also limped out from the main hall and welcomed Su Ying into the house with a smile.
"Has the city lord's injury healed?"
"It's all right now."
"City Lord, I'm glad you're okay. I wanted to go see you before, but Xiao Jin stopped me. How despicable."
Hu Wei glared at him and said, "Why are you joining in the fun when the city lord is injured? I should have stopped you."
Qiao Yang curled his lips. His elder brother just loved to go against his will.
"City Lord, you can have lunch here later and then go back. I'll ask the boys to kill two chickens."
When Su Ying heard that there was chicken to eat, she couldn't move her legs. Xiao Jin hadn't let her eat any meat in the past few days while he was recuperating from his injuries. She was almost hungry for food. If it weren't for Uncle He and the others' good cooking skills, she would really have to go and kill pigs and sheep.
"Okay, let's eat chicken."
"Everyone has settled down in the past few days, the city lord can rest assured."
Su Ying nodded. It was still snowy and icy outside, so there was no way to go out to check the surrounding terrain. She could only wait until spring. Su Ying was still very persistent about planting and breeding.
The reason why Tiankui City has been able to survive to this day is because it relied on plundering all over the Northern Wilderness. She doesn't want to do that, so she needs an industry that can develop over the long term, or something that is irreplaceable elsewhere.
But before that, they still have to achieve self-sufficiency.
"Well, although we have moved to Tiankui City, the rules set in Tiger Camp cannot be broken. Everything still needs to be done according to the previous rules and regulations."
"yes."
The previous Tiger Camp also had a chef. Although his skills were not as good as Uncle He and his team, the meals he cooked were also delicious.
Qiao Yang asked him to catch two chickens, one for making soup and the other for stewing in oil. When the dishes were served, Su Ying could feel her saliva being secreted crazily.
She was extremely satisfied with the meal at Qiao's house.
After leaving Qiao's house, Su Ying returned to the training ground to settle the captured children.
They have been staying in the house these days, and Xiao Jin has not yet figured out how to accommodate them.
Those children ranged from three to seventeen or eighteen years old, and there were quite a lot of them, most of them were boys, so placing them was indeed a big problem.
"Have someone go and count how many of these children remember where their homes are. For those who remember and want to go home, record them and arrange for them to go to the same place. When spring comes, have someone send them away."
"It's the city lord, what about the rest?"
