Agares tossed the fish he was carrying to the ground, turned his back to Jiang Si, and with a resounding, indulgent tone, uttered the concise yet powerful words: "Good!"
The unyielding, straight-laced man's decisive and efficient actions completely changed Jiang Si's perception of him.
What a great man!
What a great man!
What a great man!
I'll say it three times because it's important!
After she finished speaking, the swarming zombies drew closer and closer. Jiang Si turned her head and saw that Jiu Feng hadn't caught up. Instantly, she erected a blue light wall between herself and Agares.
The blue wall of light, like a one-way mirror, allows her to see from one side to the other, but not from the other side to this side.
"Aww... Hoho..."
The zombie roared, its rotting body leaping suddenly towards Jiang Si.
Instead of chopping off the zombie's head, Jiang Si used the tip of her long knife to flick it, jumping directly into the zombie's heart and picking out the crystal core inside.
Even without the crystal core, the zombie can still move, but its movements are slower, its eyes bulge out and become more lifeless, and the festering on its face and body continues to worsen.
Hundreds and thousands of zombies were among them. Jiang Si moved swiftly and accurately, stabbing them in the heart and taking out their crystal cores.
An hour passed.
The blue light wall collapsed.
Jiufeng looked towards the wall of light, raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Your Highness Agares, your wife tricked you. You were blocking my way here, but she's already gone."
Agares turned his head and saw countless star diamond donors, making whooshing sounds, waving their arms, and moving towards him.
He bent down, picked up the unconscious Yu Feifei, and retorted to Jiufeng, "If you have the time and energy, Jiufeng, you should worry about yourself. I am no trouble for you."
After saying that, he dashed away like a startled swan, disappearing through the zombies and rushing forward.
Jiufeng stamped her foot and followed.
Jiang Si ran quite a distance and came to a cave. The cave was very tall and wide in diameter. From the outside, it looked dark and quiet inside.
With a knife in her right hand and a lit willow branch in her left, Jiang Si stepped into the cave.
I had expected the cave to be filled with a foul stench and piles of bones, but to my surprise, it was clean and dry, with no leaves or dead branches on the ground.
Jiang Si walked deeper and deeper, for half an hour, before she heard the sound of water. She quickened her pace and walked towards the sound of water.
As I approached the source of the sound, I realized it wasn't water, but rather the sound of chewing and swallowing.
She put the knife into the spatial button, tiptoed, took the torch behind her, and peered out. Suddenly, everything went black, and she could see nothing.
Startled, she leaned back and bumped into Agares's hard chest. Her eyes were heavy as Agares grabbed her hand. "Don't look!"
Jiang Si held a torch in her left hand and clasped her right hand over the large hand that was covering her eyes. She pulled Agares's large hand off, turned around, and looked up at him: "What can't I see?"
The dim torchlight illuminated the empty cave, casting their shadows on the cave wall. The shadows were so close together that they looked as if they were kissing.
Agares looked down at her: "You'll be scared if you see this!"
Jiang Si pointed to herself: "Would you be scared if you saw this?"
She was his ancestor from 3,000 years ago.
What storms haven't I weathered?
Are you scared?
She has never been afraid of going it alone.
What she feared was the indiscriminate attack and bombardment by big guns and cannons.
Agares gave a soft "hmm," and said, "They're eating people over there!"
Zombies eating people?
What's the big deal?
This isn't normal!
In the post-apocalyptic world, zombies bite anyone they catch.
Once bitten, it either gets eaten or becomes one of its own; this is a basic operation.
Jiang Si's voice softened, with a slight trailing tone, "I want to go and see, I'm not afraid!"
Was she being coquettish?
Agares' breath hitched, a blush creeping up her neck. Her voice suddenly hardened, and she relented, "Fine, I'll take you to see!"
Ginger shreds: "..."
No, she can go see for herself.
She's not scared, okay?
What's there to be afraid of?
Agares extinguished the fire in her hand, and in the darkness, with his face flushed and cold, he grasped her wrist, walked ahead, and pulled her along.
Completely bewildered by this turn of events, Jiang Si's eyes hadn't adjusted to the darkness, leaving her practically blind as he dragged her along.
After walking about five steps, Agares stopped: "They're down there!"
Jiang Si broke free of his grip and eagerly climbed up, but Agares reached out and stopped her, reminding her, "Slow down, be careful not to fall!"
Jiang Si instinctively reached out and grabbed his arm: "I know..."
Before he could finish speaking, he felt something sticky under his hand. He squeezed it too hard and clearly felt Agares' arm stiffen.
She frowned: "Are you injured?"
Agares's voice was stiff and unnatural: "It's alright!"
"Are you alright?" Jiang Si suddenly raised her voice and grabbed his arm. "You've been bitten for hours?"
Oh no!
Was he bitten by a zombie?
If left untreated!
Will he turn into a zombie?
"no……"
"What don't you mean?" Jiang Si interrupted him anxiously, "Tell me how many hours it's been, say it!"
In the darkness, she was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. Agares, whose vision was as bright as day in the darkness, looked at her anxious appearance and said in a slow voice, "Less than two hours!"
Less than two hours?
It's not too late!
It's not too late!
It's not too late!
Jiang Si grabbed him, not caring what she was eating or chewing, turned around, took a few steps, stopped, and let go of his hand.
He broke off three sections of willow branch, lit them, and stuck them into the cave.
The cave was instantly illuminated as if it were daytime.
Jiang Si removed the paper from her nose. The zombie smell was too awful, so she stuffed paper in her nose to prevent the zombie smell from getting in. As a result, she didn't know immediately that Agares had been bitten by a zombie.
Having done all this, Jiang Si pulled Agares close and stared at his arm, which was already stained with blood: "Two hours, it's alright, I have a way to cure it, you don't need to worry!"
"Actually, this is a knife..."
"No need for a knife!" Jiang Si pulled him to sit on a rock in the cave, standing between his legs and interrupting him, "Trust me, I won't let anything happen to you!"
The steel-straight empire's light, the nation's idol, Prince Agares's leg touched hers, her body sitting on the stone, stiffer than stone itself.
His neck, face, and ear tips were tinged with crimson, and his dark eyes, unsure of where to look, could only lower their gaze to the tips of his little wife's shoes.
Jiang Si took a deep breath, raised and bent her right leg, placing it against Agares' thigh. She put his arm on her leg, tore open the tattered sleeve, and bright red blood gushed from his arm. The wound was gaping open, deep enough to expose the bone.
Jiang Si looked at the wound. There were no bite marks, no scratches, and it was neither bluish nor purplish. The blood was very red, and the wound was very fresh.
She stared at the wound for a moment, then raised her eyes and looked directly at Agares: "It's not a bite mark or a scratch. You weren't bitten. You're lying to me?"
