Chapter 45

Chapter 45

There is not much food here, but it is enough for one or two days. Even if there is no food here, maybe we can go outside to find some, unless there is someone outside guarding and not allowing people to go out.

Then we will starve to death.

Someone came and knocked on the door.

The World of Truth went to open the door.

Standing outside the door was the destined person this time, a young man who looked to be in his 20s, with dark skin and a red face, like wheat dipped in honey.

"What's your name?"

the young man asked.

"Green, my name is Green."

The World of Truth smiled at him.

"My name is Xiaomai."

He smiled like a sunflower to the sun.

He looked very beautiful when he smiled, like a soda bottle that had just been opened in the summer. If you shake it, you can hear the sound of ice cubes hitting each other in the cup.

"Have you finished your work?"

Green asked him.

"Yes, I have carried away all the bodies. Unless another one dies now, I won't need to go out to help anymore. After all, none of the dead people are from my family."

Xiao Mai replied.

"I'm not familiar with this place yet. I haven't had dinner yet. Do you know how to use the things here?"

Green pointed to the things in the kitchen behind him and asked him.

He only took a look and laughed.

"They are all very familiar things. I know how to use them. But if you want me to help you, you have to help me too. This is fairer."

Xiao Mai replied with a smile.

When he spoke, his eyes swept over Green. At that time, his eyes had a little more light, like the light emitted by a certain machine during a scan.

Green blinked.

This made him look innocent and pitiful, as if he had escaped from another barren area without taking anything important with him, but his face always gave people a glow.

It was as if God especially loved him, and there was always a soft light on his face, making people feel as if they had seen a god descending to earth.

It was not about looking good or bad, but the effect of an especially holy light.

It gave people an illusion of being dazzled.

Squinting at him, I only felt a soft light in front of me, as if a high god suddenly fell from the clouds and reached out to the believers.

A sense of redemption exploded in his body.

This also gave Xiao Mai an illusion, as if if he took another step forward, he would be able to smell the scent of milk and honey from the Garden of Eden on the other person.

"How can I help you? I don't know anyone here, and I don't even know myself."

Green asked him with a smile, as if he was an older brother from a neighbor's family, looking at a child one or two years younger than him, and showing some helpless tolerance.

This tolerance was insignificant, but this tolerance was like honey in milk, special and precious, enough to impress a person who had not been exposed to these things before.

"It's okay, I'll help you first, and then if I need anything later, I will ask you to come with me, so that I can find you directly if I need help. What do you think?"

Xiao Mai asked.

"Okay, please come in now, go to the kitchen, and cook a meal with me."

Green opened the door and smiled at him, inviting him in.

He nodded, not politely at all, as if this was his home. However, Green didn't know where he lived yet, so this seemed to be a question that should be asked.

Green closed the door of the house and watched Xiaomai walk into the kitchen.

He followed him, washed his hands first, and watched him take out a bag of flour, crack an egg, add a little water, and mix the contents of the basin evenly. He

tried to help, and Xiaomai told him that he could wipe the table and get another glass of water.

While he was getting the water, he asked, "You live in the village too, right?"

Xiaomai nodded.

"Then where do you live? Is it far from here?"

Green asked him.

While speaking, Green put the glass of water on the table, the only table in the living room.

They were a little far away from each other. Although the room was not very big, it was more than enough for two people.

When the wind blew, it was as if a naughty child ran into the room, whistled, and ran away.

The wind made the room chilly. Green approached the kitchen again. Xiao Mai glanced at him and then looked away, continuing to prepare food. He did not think there was anything unusual about this behavior.

So Green moved a little closer to him again.

Xiao Mai looked at Green again.

But his gaze did not mean anything. He just noticed that something was approaching, so he took a look to confirm the situation. When he felt that there was no danger, he looked away.

"Not very far, but not very close either.

If it's dark now and I want to go home, I may not be able to reach my doorstep until nearly midnight.

But there's no one else at my house, so I can go home anytime, and it doesn't matter

if I don't go home. No one will care about me. You don't have to worry about someone coming to trouble you because of me. If someone really does come to trouble you in my name, it certainly won't be because I didn't go home too late.

In order to prevent you from being deceived by strangers in the future, I still have to remind you in advance that if someone says they are my relatives, it must be false.

But if someone says they are my friends, there is a 20% chance that they are true. If I'm not with you, you have to distinguish it yourself. If I'm with you, they probably won't come.

So don't worry for the time being."

Xiao Mai answered Green.

While he was talking, he didn't stop what he was doing, and soon prepared a dinner.

When Xiao Mai was about to transfer the dinner to the table, Green lent a hand and asked him with the food: "You will stay for dinner too, right?"

Xiaomai's eyes fell on the surface of the food. It was steaming hot food made by himself. The surface of the food was golden and had slight cracks. It looked like soft and delicious bread.

There were some chopped nuts and jam in the cracks of the bread. It looked colorful and had a rich taste. There was also a little white icing and milk powder on the surface, which exuded a sweet milk smell.

It can be imagined that this thing must be very delicious.

Green could see that Xiaomai was very confident in the food he made, and he was hungry now.

Green smiled at Xiaomai and invited him again.

"It's getting dark, let's finish our meal here before leaving. This is made by you, don't you want to eat it?"

Green asked him with a smile.

He hesitated, nodded, and agreed to stay for dinner.

"Please pour me an extra glass of milk, add a little more water, no need to add sugar, I know there is not much here."

Xiao Mai said to Green with a smile.

Green nodded and agreed to his request.

They started to have dinner together.

But it was getting darker and darker, so they rummaged through the boxes and found a white candle, and then found a rusty-looking bronze three-pronged candlestick and placed it on the dining table.

Put the white candle on the candlestick, light the fire, and the candle burned, emitting a weak and trembling flame in the darkness, the orange flame was warm and jumped in all directions.

The whole room seemed to be warmed by this little flame.

The table was square, and they sat opposite each other.

In front of him were a plate and a cup. The plate was white with half a piece of bread on it, and the cup was transparent with hot milk made from milk powder and water.

This dinner was not very rich, but it looked enough to fill the stomach.

Green thanked Xiaomai.

"If it weren't for you, I might have gone hungry tonight. I don't know what to do with all those ingredients,"

Green said to Xiaomai.

"I was going to have dinner, but you kept me here, so I didn't have to go home. I saved time, and I should thank you. You don't have to be too polite to me.

Although you are a guest of the village when you come to the village, since you are staying in this house, you are the owner. I came to your house to have dinner, and now I am your guest.

If the host is too polite to the guest, the guest will be at a loss. I have been very rude, and if the host is more polite, I really don't know what to do."

Xiao Mai smiled at Green.

The atmosphere between them was joyful, but the candle crackled and a spark burst out, which sounded like a firecracker. They looked at each other and calmed down.

They began to deal with their dinner.

When Xiaomai was about to finish his dinner, someone knocked on the door. It was a villager. The villager told Xiaomai that a new body had appeared in the village and needed to be moved. He asked Xiaomai to come out and help.

"The reason why I know you are here is because someone saw you coming in. So when do you have time to go over? Or why don't you just come with me?

That way we can both save some time."

The villager who knocked on the door smiled at Xiaomai and said.

Xiaomai took a look at the bread crumbs left on the table and the milk at the bottom of the cup, and said, "It will be ready soon. Wait for me to eat the last bit of dinner today."

The villager nodded and stood at the door waiting.

Xiaomai quickly finished the bread crumbs and milk, and put the cups and plates in the kitchen. He was going to wash them, but the villager at the door took a look inside and began to urge him.

He said to Green, who was carrying his empty plates and cups and preparing to wash them, "Please wash these."

"Okay, but," Green said to Xiaomai after looking at the villagers outside the door, "I want to go with you, too. One more person is always more useful. Can I go with you?"

Green took the things from Xiaomai's hand and started washing them.

He was very fast. After washing, he wiped the water off the dishes with a towel beside him, squeezed the towel dry, put the dishes aside, and washed his hands with soap.
