Chapter 101



When they got home, the maid planned to take the painting to the storage room to collect dust, but Sheng Ke took one last look at the painting and suddenly stopped in her tracks: "Wait."

She stopped the servant's movements and went closer to look at the painting. She hadn't looked at it carefully at the Lu residence, but now she noticed that there was a shadow cast by the firelight at her feet, even though her expression was calm.

The pale black shadow was drawn at the base of the fire, intersecting with the shadow of the flames, making it difficult to spot unless you looked closely.

Sheng Ke squinted as she observed; the shadow was drawn extremely distorted, resembling a struggle for survival.

“This is…” She keenly noticed that the clothes the shadow was wearing seemed a little different. The shadow was wearing a red long dress with puff sleeves, but the shadow did not have any protruding sleeves on its arms. Instead, its shoulders were bare. Looking at the hem, the shadow was wearing a long dress that was off-the-shoulder.

Almost instantly, she thought of Yuan Ai, whom she had seen at her birthday party; Yuan Ai was wearing a long, off-the-shoulder dress. And this painting was painted by her...

Sheng Ke, no, Yuan Ke.

Yuan Ke was certain that Yuan Ai was asking her for help.

"Chu Chu." Gu Yu's somewhat deep voice sounded in her ear. Ye Chu shuddered, pulling herself out of her thoughts that were absorbed in the script. Before she knew it, it was time to rest, and she had already read half of the script.

"It's time to rest." Gu Yu patted her head. Ye Chu instinctively flinched, then realized her mistake: "Sorry, I was a little..."

"It's alright," Gu Yu said gently. "When I first read this script, I almost..." almost wanted to arrest you.
