Ye Chu pulled her hat down a little further, afraid of being recognized.
She texted Gu Yu on her phone: I'm at the airport, and it'll be a while before I board the plane.
Gu Yu: Okay, I'm ready to film. Be careful and let me know when you're almost there.
Ye Chu obediently replied "okay," then tugged at her mask. She tried her best not to be paranoid, but at that moment she was really afraid of being recognized.
She only relaxed her guard slightly after boarding the plane and landing safely.
"Let me see..." Ye Chu looked at the map on her phone and searched for the route, finding that she could take a bus directly there.
Gu Yu: Where are we?
Ye Chu: I just got on the bus.
Squeak—crack—
The bus doors closed, and it began its swaying journey. The bus wasn't crowded; most passengers were looking at their phones or dozing. Ye Chu wasn't particularly tired, even though she had gotten up early to catch her flight. But the thought of seeing Gu Yu soon seemed to wash away all her fatigue.
At the final stop, Ye Chu skipped off the bus; it was almost noon.
Ye Chu: I've arrived. Shall we go now?
Gu Yu: I don't have any filming scheduled for this afternoon. There's a park nearby, let's meet there.
Ye Chu: Okay, at the door?
Gu Yu: Hmm.
While out and about, Ye Chu was thankful that she wasn't directionally challenged. Following the navigation, she arrived at the park entrance where she had arranged to meet Gu Yu. However, perhaps because she walked slowly, Gu Yu was already waiting for her when she arrived.
The other person was dressed in casual sportswear, with a black mask under a white baseball cap. Fortunately, due to the air quality here, wearing masks was quite common, so no one found it strange.
"Sorry, I'm late." Ye Chu walked to Gu Yu's side. She felt that Gu Yu had just smiled. Although neither of them could see each other's faces clearly, she seemed to know what the other's expression would be.
“You don’t need to apologize to me for this,” Gu Yu said. “You will always be worth waiting for.”
Ye Chu suddenly felt like crying. Did this person even know what she had said?
"But now you don't have to wait for me, because I'll keep up with you on my own."
This was probably the first time the two had held hands this year. Putting aside their celebrity status, they were simply a couple in a relationship, holding hands and strolling together.
The warmth of their hands mingled, a feeling difficult to describe, but undeniably beautiful. At least it made Ye Chu feel that perhaps it would be wonderful for them to continue walking hand in hand like this.
"Is there anything you'd like to eat?" Gu Yu asked. The two of them were currently on a very lively food street.
Ye Chu looked around. If she could, she really wanted to eat some street food. But... if they ate on the street, they would have to take off their masks.
He shook his head: "Never mind, it wouldn't be good if someone saw us."
Gu Yu didn't say anything, but Ye Chu felt him tighten his grip on her hand. They walked for a while longer; the long food street eventually came to an end. They turned a corner and continued down another alley.
“Actually, it’s not a big deal if we get caught.” Gu Yu stopped and looked at Ye Chu beside her. “I was just thinking, my savings should be enough for our future living expenses?”
"Pfft." Ye Chu laughed for some reason: "That's not what I'm worried about."
She looked up at Gu Yu, her smiling eyes barely concealed by her hat brim and mask: "I just don't want you to suffer any bad things because our relationship is exposed. You're a movie star, and I'm not the only one who likes you. You know? Sometimes I wonder why I ever said I wanted to marry a movie star. Now look what's happened, this is quite a mess."
After they finished speaking, the two looked at each other and smiled.
As it turned out, Changji's suggestion was absolutely correct. Ever since meeting Gu Yu and spending a few days together, Ye Chu's overall condition had improved significantly. At least, that's what Changji thought, seeing Ye Chu in her current state of work. Ye Chu was... well, radiant.
A not-so-good idea popped into her mind: two people, a couple, together for several days...
"Chu Chu." Chang Ji narrowed her eyes, giving Ye Chu a strange look: "You and the Movie Emperor don't have anything going on, do you?"
Ye Chu blinked: "Nothing?"
"That." Changji raised an eyebrow in acknowledgment.
"Which one?" Ye Chu tilted her head, puzzled.
Chang Ji beckoned to her, and Ye Chu leaned closer, only to hear her utter a word in a very soft voice that was not suitable for a child to hear.
"Sister Ji!" Ye Chu's face flushed red, and she froze, shaking her head vigorously, "No, no! We didn't!"
"Really?" I don't believe it.
"Absolutely true!" he said through gritted teeth.
Chang Ji breathed a sigh of relief, then her eyes darted around, realizing she absolutely had to give Ye Chu a good talking-to. So she continued, "It's not that you two can't do 'that,' it's just that when you do it, you absolutely must remember to make the movie star wear something. After all, you're public figures, you know? Just in case..." She glanced at Ye Chu's flat stomach, "...it could have an effect, understand?"
"..." Ye Chu looked at her, no longer wanting to explain or say anything. She raised the script in her hand and waved it, then pointed to the few more piled on the table: "I think we should finish picking these first, what do you think? My dear Agent Ji."
“That’s right, that’s right.” Changji nodded, casually pulled one out from the pile, and then resumed her calm and professional demeanor, opening the script.
An hour later, Changji looked away from the script and onto Ye Chu: "Chu Chu."
Ye Chu was still looking at the script when she asked, "What?"
"I think you could give this script a try?" Changji stood up and handed the script to Ye Chu.
"The Intruder?" Ye Chu wondered. Spy film? Apocalypse film? Science fiction? Then she opened the script: "..." It wasn't that the script was bad, it's just that Ye Chu didn't know how to categorize it for the time being.
The name is indeed easy to misunderstand, but it is very fitting.
This is a movie script about the invasion of an alien species. This alien species doesn't refer to any extraterrestrial beings or mutant humans, but rather to a creature that has invaded my country from abroad—the golden apple snail.
This is a semi-documentary film that tells the story of invasive species in a small village.
The film begins with a family in the countryside and their fields. The Gu family are true farmers who have dealt with the land for so many years that they are the first to discover these mysterious creatures.
However, the Gu family's warnings and reports were not taken seriously at first.
