Chapter 141

Most of Ye Chu's work this year has been magazine shoots and endorsement ads. Since the end of "Morbid" aired, Ye Chu fans have only been able to see her in ads.

In the past, they would have thought that was enough, but ever since Ye Chu started filming "Escape", the various TV series and movies that followed have made them greedy. They wish they could see Ye Chu's updates every day. They still buy magazines, but they can't satisfy their appetite. They want to watch new dramas and movies, but they don't dare to say it because they are also afraid that Ye Chu is too tired.

Ye Chu was unaware of the fans' conflicted feelings. After finishing their busy work schedules, she and Gu Yu went on a short vacation abroad together.

This is a small European town with fairytale-like architecture, surrounded by mountains and with a large river flowing through it, making it incredibly beautiful.

In this remote, fairytale-like town, almost no one could recognize the two of them, which allowed them to relax and have a great time.

Unidentified birds were resting on the riverbank. Gu Yu held up his camera and looked through the lens at the person feeding the birds with bread.

The golden sunlight shone on the other person, making them seem to glow. It wasn't a blinding white light, but a soft, delicate light, like gold leaf.

She was slightly bent over, wearing a locally bought hat with a large brim and a scarf with a distinctive pattern. In her hand, which wasn't holding bread, she was holding a bouquet of blooming flowers, a gift from a kind-hearted town resident who complimented them on how well-matched they were, probably mistaking them for a newlywed couple on their honeymoon.

"Click." Gu Yu pressed the shutter, capturing this beautiful scene in his camera. His gaze remained fixed on the person, never leaving them, his eyes always filled with gentle affection.

Ye Chu fed the bird bread and ran contentedly towards Gu Yu. Her hat was a bit too big, and she felt it would be blown away by the wind if she ran, so she raised one hand to gently press it down. This action, combined with the dress she was wearing, looked just like a scene from a movie.

"What are you looking at?" Ye Chu blinked and deliberately leaned closer to Gu Yu to ask him.

"Look at you." Gu Yu's eyes were filled with a deep tenderness and focus, which made Ye Chu blush quietly. She tiptoed and gave him a light kiss on the cheek.

The two continued walking hand in hand up the mountain. They had planned to go up the mountain that day anyway, because they had heard that there was a tree at the top that, like something out of a fairy tale, had red leaves all year round, and the leaves were even heart-shaped. Legend had it that it was the tree where the goddess of love had transformed into, and that couples who kissed under the tree would receive eternal happiness.

Look, this town is not only like a fairy tale in its architecture and environment, but even its legend is a fairy tale.

Regardless of whether the tree's existence was real or not, or whether it could truly bring eternal happiness, the two decided to go up the mountain to see for themselves.

Ye Chu stood under the tree, Gu Yu holding her hand tightly. Their fingers were intertwined as they looked up at the huge, red tree that seemed to reach the sky.

Ye Chu didn't know if it was red all year round, but she knew that what she could see now were red, heart-shaped leaves.

"It seems the goddess of love is smiling upon us." She turned to Gu Yu with a smile and said. Gu Yu nodded gently, gazed at her, and slowly leaned closer.

"Whoosh—" A breeze blew, and the heart-shaped red leaves slapped against each other, making a resounding sound. They witnessed the passionate kiss between the couple beneath the tree, cheering for their eternal love.

Perhaps the goddess of love truly exists. Maybe she's sitting on the trunk of a big tree right now, using her magic to bind the people kissing under the tree together tightly, forever. Who knows?

They spent three days in this fairytale town before returning home. After getting off the plane, they went through the fast track back to the car, and Ye Chu immediately rested her head on Gu Yu's shoulder and closed her eyes to rest.

She actually gets a bit of motion sickness on long-haul flights. When the flight is long, she can't help but feel dizzy. So even though she had a lot of fun there, the round trip was really tough on her.

"We're here." After an unknown amount of time, she heard Gu Yu softly call her to wake up, and then, in a hazy state, she saw him kiss her lips a few times.

Gu Yu thought the person in front of her with their misty eyes when they first woke up was so cute that she couldn't help but want to hug them and kiss them.

But that won't work here.

The two walked side by side, passing through most of the neighborhood, and entered Gu Yu's home together.

Ye Chu had just taken a nap and was feeling much better, but her ears were still red because Gu Yuqing had stolen a kiss from her.

Before her ears had even cooled down, the door closed and Gu Yu swept her up in his arms. His long legs strode over and placed her on the sofa, then he bent down…

They seem to be kissing all the time these days? Ye Chu thought hazily, her brain deprived of oxygen—on the plane, during her trip, and now back home. Lost in thought, she drifted off to some unknown place, feeling lightheaded.

After a long while, Ye Chu blushed and picked up a cushion from the side of the sofa to cover herself, hiding half of her face behind it. She tried to let her brain refill with oxygen, and then said with evasive eyes, "Control yourself, control yourself, we can't continue, it's too much, it's too dangerous."

Changji's words floated into her mind. She had only taken them as a joke at the time, but now... Thinking about the scene she had just accidentally witnessed, Ye Chu felt that perhaps she should listen to Changji and prepare a few things in case things went wrong one day and she was unprepared to welcome a new life into the world.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Gu Yu's voice was hoarse as she restrained herself, her steps stiff as she disappeared behind the bedroom door.

Ye Chu obediently stayed on the sofa and waited. Perhaps because she had just been thinking about something, she unconsciously glanced at the time. When she heard the bathroom door slide open, she couldn't help but whisper, "So long..."

Realizing what she had said, she stiffened slightly, then put on her acting skills, pretending to be calm and natural as she looked at Gu Yu who came out of the room.

"What's wrong?" Gu Yu asked, puzzled. He believed Ye Chu couldn't possibly be unaware of something, but why was she looking at him like that?

Yes, Ye Chu's face was composed, but the strange, fiery look in her eyes couldn't be hidden by her acting skills.

"Ahem." She coughed awkwardly. "I'm hungry." Ye Chu pouted and gestured with her chin toward the kitchen.

Gu Yu naturally took on the role of cook without complaint, as he couldn't let his girlfriend go hungry; this was one of Gu Yu's requirements for himself to be a qualified boyfriend.

The aroma of food quickly wafted up, dispelling Ye Chu's embarrassment and leaving only her rumbling stomach.
