Chapter 53

“I’ve also looked at your work. Your acting is generally fine, but there are occasional moments of unnaturalness in one or two shots. It’s very subtle, and the audience won’t notice it, but professionals will.” Li Kan continued, “You must correct this flaw. If you want to become a truly excellent actor, you can’t let the character have any emotions that are detached from the script, not even a little bit.”

These words were a revelation to Ye Chu. She herself hadn't noticed these details, and Li Kan had pointed out the fatal flaw in her acting skills.

Just as Li Kan said, during the filming of the previous scene, as Cheng Jie, she should have been full of confidence and proudly preparing to accept the other person's confession. Cheng Jie had thought everything through, so naturally she wouldn't feel uncomfortable for a moment when the other person confessed.

But Ye Chu, who plays Cheng Jie, is different. She knows she isn't the real Cheng Jie, so when Gu Yu says things like "I'd give you my life," Ye Chu feels a moment of unease. It's as if she's separated herself from the role of the female lead, creating another version of herself as an observer.

"Thank you for your guidance, Elder Li!" Ye Chu stood up and bowed to Li Kan. If it weren't for Li Kan's timely reminder, she probably would have continued to make mistakes in this area.

Gu Yu laughed from the side: "As expected of Old Li, even I, who was acting alongside her, didn't notice this."

Li Kan waved his hand: "It's normal that you didn't notice. You're so focused on how wonderful she is that you can't see any flaws. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

"Ahem." This made Gu Yu a little embarrassed. He touched his nose awkwardly, somewhat concerned about Ye Chu's reaction after hearing this.

Fortunately, Ye Chu didn't think too much about it and assumed that Li Kan was referring to Gu Yu, who was acting alongside Li Kan. Back then, Gu Yu was indeed in a state of "love is blind" when it came to Cheng Jie, the character he played.

So she replied nonchalantly, "There's nothing I can do about it. Li Kan was blinded by love for Cheng Jie back then. It's normal that you, Mr. Gu, were too caught up in the role to notice."

"..."

"..."

Even Li Kan fell silent. He glanced at Gu Yu, his eyes filled with pity. Poor Gu Yu, falling for a girl with a muddle-headed mind.

Gu Yu cleared her throat again and replied to Li Kan with a helpless look, indicating that she was also powerless.

Zhang Wuyong urged Li Kan to hurry up and start.

Forcibly kissing her crush was indeed not an easy thing. Ye Chu hesitated five or six times, each time stopping after pressing him against the tree trunk, unable to bring herself to do it.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Ye Chu quickly apologized to everyone after another pause. Zhang Wuyong rubbed his temples, feeling a bit of a headache.

Li Kan sat on the bench, looking at Gu Yu, whose face had darkened, with a knowing look and teasing him: You're really in a bad situation, kid.

Gu Yu was seething with frustration and resentment, especially since he had been really looking forward to this scene. There were many kissing scenes in the movie, but none of them were as exciting as this one.

"Go, Chu Chu! Don't be afraid! This is just acting, Actor Gu won't do anything to you!" Fu Yu stood up excitedly and shouted loudly. The actress next to her pulled her down to sit, showing that the girl was completely obsessed.

Ye Chu blushed a little when she was called that. She took a deep breath and silently cheered herself up. She was going to kiss him anyway, so she might as well do it in one go this time!

"Director Zhang, I'm ready," she said to Zhang Wuyong, turning away with a sense of resolute determination.

Filming resumed, and Gu Yu, with his back to Ye Chu, placed his hand on the trunk of the banyan tree. Under the camera lens, his fingertips were slightly white as he carefully examined the texture of the trunk.

“Li Kan,” Ye Chu said.

Gu Yu turned around in response, and just as he opened his mouth to ask what she was doing, he felt his shoulders being gripped tightly. The person pushed him back, and his back made intimate contact with the trunk of the banyan tree.

After hardening her heart, Ye Chu successfully kissed him forcefully. Her resolute spirit appeared as domineering on camera. The moment their lips collided, fireworks exploded in Gu Yu's mind.

Ye Chu closed her eyes, unsure of what constituted a forced kiss. So she haphazardly kissed Gu Yu's lips, and Gu Yu, sensing her lack of skill, felt a surge of pleasure.

On the surface, he appeared passive, but Ye Chu, on the other hand, felt a powerful force completely opposite to his outward appearance. The scene showed Ye Chu forcefully kissing Gu Yu, but in reality, it was Gu Yu forcefully kissing Ye Chu.

Ye Chu's eyelashes trembled slightly as she tried to keep her feet straight, making sure that she appeared to be the more dominant one.

She didn't quite understand the feeling; her brain completely shut down.

Was Gu Yu kissing her? she wondered to herself, or was this how real kissing scenes were supposed to be acted?

Unbeknownst to her, the initiative was no longer in her hands. The kiss seemed to last a long time to the person involved, but to others it was only a moment. When Zhang Wuyong shouted "Cut," Ye Chu retreated as if fleeing for her life.

She stood with her back to the crowd, staring blankly at Gu Yu. Gu Yu straightened his clothes and smiled gently at her, as if he hadn't been the overly assertive person just moments before.

No one else noticed anything amiss, and Zhang Wuyong even praised someone with considerable satisfaction: "Not bad, not bad, great momentum! This shot is absolutely perfect!"

With the two main shots completed smoothly, the subsequent shots became much easier. During the later filming process, Ye Chu tried her best to forget about the incident.

When it was time to finish work, she didn't immediately take the nanny car back home, but instead went into the school's restroom first.

The cool water splashed on her face, which made her more awake. She told herself that she was just filming and not to overthink things. "Actor Gu is a gentleman."

The "gentleman" is currently signing autographs for a group of female fans, offering each of them a gentle smile and then leaving his flamboyant signature in notebook after notebook.

He appeared perfectly normal on the surface, but only he knew that all his thoughts were on the person who hadn't come out of the restroom yet.

Why did it take so long to get in?

Did she secretly cry?

Was I being too harsh?

Shall we go apologize later?

A jumble of thoughts swirled in her mind, and her temples throbbed, but she still managed a smile as she posed for photos with her fans.

After finally signing autographs and waving goodbye to her enthusiastic fans, Gu Yu walked to the side of the path a little distance from the women's restroom and stopped.

He had his hands in his coat pockets, his fingers clenching and unclenching repeatedly in his pockets, a sign of unease on his face.

Ye Chu came out from inside, wiping the water droplets from her face with a tissue. Gu Yu saw this and, thinking he had really made her cry, became even more nervous.
