Regardless of whether continuing like this is good for Ye Chu or not, Gu Yu felt that she couldn't go on like this.
After filming "Chu Han" ended, Gu Yu decided to change tactics. Gentle persuasion was obviously not going to work, so perhaps taking the initiative would be more effective.
Peach jumped onto Gu Yu's lap, happily stomping on his legs. Gu Yu scratched its chin and picked Peach up, saying, "Peach, Daddy's counting on you."
"Woof?" The snow-white peach tilted its head, not understanding what the two-legged creature was saying.
Holding the peach, Gu Yu pressed Ye Chu's doorbell, but no one answered for a long time.
Gu Yu frowned. According to Chang Ji's report, Ye Chu should not have been working these past two days. Could it be that she went out to walk the dog?
Just as he was about to take the peaches back, the door across the street suddenly opened, and Ye Chu came out with tangerines and a local specialty from one of the filming locations of Michael.
Upon seeing Gu Yu, Ye Chu was somewhat surprised, but then she noticed the peach in his arms and understood. She naturally asked, "Would you like to walk the dog together, Mr. Gu? I need to put some things down. Could you please wait for me?"
"Hmm, no rush." Gu Yu nodded, glancing at Michael, who looked on with curiosity inside the door, with an unfriendly look. Fortunately, Michael was oblivious and completely immune to this person's strange hostility, even waving and greeting him.
Gu Yu reluctantly hummed in agreement. Ye Chu went inside, put her things down, and came out. She told Michael that she would see him later, and then went downstairs with Gu Yu to walk the dog.
On the way, Gu Yu asked casually, "Do you have plans for tonight?" but her tone still carried a hint of displeasure.
Ye Chu tightened her grip on the tangerine dog's leash, then replied as if she hadn't noticed anything, "Yeah, I made plans with Coco to go to her house to watch a movie together tonight."
"Hmm." Gu Yu pondered for a moment: "Although it's very close, it's still best not to go too late."
Ye Chu twitched her ears, and the two of them stopped almost simultaneously. She turned around and asked the other person, "It seems that Actor Gu is very concerned about my life?" Her tone seemed to be dissatisfied with the other person's somewhat meddlesome attitude towards her: "I don't quite understand, although he says he is concerned."
Peach was still running around happily, tugging at the leash and thrashing about, but its owner seemed rooted to the spot.
Gu Yu lowered his eyes, and when he looked up at Ye Chu, his eyes held a half-smile. His tone was raised, with a hint of a question: "You think I'm meddling?"
He took a step forward, instantly closing the distance between himself and Ye Chu. Ye Chu was a little scared and wanted to back away, but Gu Yu grabbed her arm. Gu Yu's grip was quite strong.
He bent down and whispered in Ye Chu's ear, "Don't you know why I'm so nosy?" His warm, slightly damp breath brushed against Ye Chu's earlobe and neck, instantly causing her neck and earlobes to flush red.
Ye Chu felt as if her mind had exploded, obliterating everything and leaving only a blank. In a panic, she broke free from Gu Yu's grip, giving him a light push, which had little effect, but she retreated quickly, turning to slip away.
However, Gu Yu clearly wasn't going to give her that chance. Almost domineeringly, he grabbed her arm again and pulled her forcefully into his embrace. There were other people taking a walk in the neighborhood. He held Ye Chu's head down, making her bury her face in his shoulder.
"Don't throw a tantrum." Seemingly helpless, he sighed, "Let's go back first, okay?"
Ye Chu nodded slightly and let out a barely audible hum, making a soft "hmm".
Ye Chu was carried home almost the entire time by Gu Yu, and she felt her legs were incredibly weak. She didn't know if it was because of nervousness, fear, or simply because she was submissive to his almost forceful actions.
Gu Yu's home was the same as when she last visited, seemingly unchanged, yet when Ye Chu stepped into it again, she felt it was completely different from the last time.
Gu Yu helped her untie the rope holding the tangerine, and the little one carelessly "abandoned" her mother and went off to play with her friends.
Ye Chu was trapped between the door and Gu Yu's arms, Gu Yu's aura almost completely enveloping her, and her calves were already trembling uncontrollably...
"Gu Ying..." She looked up, wanting to ask someone to step aside and let her leave, but she suddenly met the other person's eyes, and all the rest of her words got stuck in her throat.
His eyes, usually filled with a gentle expression, were now fixed on her with the gaze of a wild beast eyeing its prey. Ye Chu could see her own reflection clearly in those pure black pupils.
Her face showed a panic she hadn't had time to hide, like a rabbit caught by a wolf.
Gu Yu suddenly moved his face even closer, startling Ye Chu, who quickly turned her head away and closed her eyes. She demonstrated the meaning of self-deception with her actions, and a hint of a smile finally appeared in Gu Yu's eyes. He glanced at the beautiful neckline unintentionally revealed by her tilted head, his Adam's apple bobbing, and said in a deep voice, "Now you're scared?"
Ye Chu cautiously opened her eyes, stole a glance at him, then squatted down by the door as if she were trying to renege on her promise, before falling limply to the ground.
She braced her hands against the door behind her, trying to stand up, but Gu Yu had already squatted down first. He knelt on one knee, his face close to Ye Chu's: "Let me finish speaking?" Although it was a question, Ye Chu felt as if he was giving her a notification.
She nodded stiffly twice, trying to straighten her back to appear less weak. Gu Yu chuckled softly, resignedly resting his head on her shoulder. He raised his left hand and gently placed it on Ye Chu's right shoulder, his fingertips sliding down until they touched the mole on the right side of her neck.
Ye Chu's body trembled violently, and she bit her lower lip hard, afraid to move.
"Among the people I know, there's only one person with a mole on the back of their neck," the person on her shoulder said. "When I was little, I touched it like that, and that person was so scared that they turned around, grabbed my hand, and bit me."
He laughed again, his chest heaving: "Speaking of which, my hand has had quite a few misfortunes." He turned his head away, raised the scarred palm, and showed it to Ye Chu.
Ye Chu stared intently at the other person's palm, finally unable to hold back: "Does it hurt?"
"It doesn't hurt."
Forehead to forehead, this question and answer seemed to break the silence of everything before, all the unease and tension dissipated, and feeling each other's warmth through their foreheads, a touch of tenderness rose in their hearts.
"I thought you would say it hurts," Ye Chu whispered, their lips very close.
"It hurts when you're not here, but it doesn't hurt when you're here."
"Who knows if you're telling the truth or not?"
"Really. When did you realize that? Or have you been pretending not to know?"
"No, it's not that. Last time I went back to sweep the tombs, I visited the old house and happened to run into my current neighbor... I only found out after asking him a few questions."
