Chapter Seventy-Three

Filming for "Unfamiliar" started earlier, while the filming of "Chu Han" was repeatedly delayed because the casting for several roles had not yet been finalized. By the time "Chu Han" officially started filming, more than half of the story of "Unfamiliar" had already been completed.

Ye Chu is here to meet her demise today. Yes, Junior Sister didn't live to see the end. In the story, Junior Sister's death is the turning point of the entire plot.

Ye Chu started trying to get into character from the moment she started getting her makeup done. By the time she changed into her costume and stood in front of everyone, she was already "Junior Sister Zhilian".

“Now, because of the Heavenly Cave, all the spiritual energy in the world is dissipating through it, making cultivation increasingly difficult. And with the torrential rains that have been falling for six days straight, rivers are overflowing and people are displaced…” The female protagonist, Zhixi, said to her best friend, Zhilian, her voice trembling, “Zhilian, I’m so heartbroken. I watch the people flee for their lives in panic, but I was injured in the great battle against the demons and can’t use my spiritual power. I don’t even have the ability to heal them.”

Zhixi, a kind-hearted female protagonist, held Zhilian's hand with a sorrowful expression: "Zhilian, we have to save them. We can't... If we can't save them... then how can those ordinary people possibly survive this catastrophe?"

Zhi Lian, also known as Ye Chu, had tears welling up in her eyes. Disciples of immortal sects cultivate their hearts before they cultivate immortality; each of them harbors deep feelings for heaven and earth and all things. Now, the world is in chaos, and the demon race is eyeing them covetously. Every disciple of an immortal sect wants to save the world, but their abilities are limited.

But Zhilian was different. She knew her true form and knew that as the Stone of Heaven, she could mend the hole in the sky. But... she reached out and brushed a few stray hairs behind Zhixi's ear, looking at the other's pale face and the confusion and helplessness on her face.

Perhaps this was her destiny. She descended to the mortal realm in human form, and through the grace of heaven and earth, she cultivated and traveled thousands of miles a day. She had a loving master and senior brothers, met Zhixi who was willing to save all living beings with her, and so many fellow disciples in the immortal sect...

Now is the time for me to repay this debt of gratitude, isn't it?

"Zhixi," Zhilian spoke, her hands trembling slightly as she held Zhixi's, her gaze gentle yet resolute. "You and your senior brother must stay together. Also, please keep an eye on Master for me, don't let him drink so much all the time. Remember to water the flowers I'm growing in my room..."

Zhixi stared at her with wide eyes, as if she had thought of something bad. She quickly grabbed Zhilian's sleeve: "Where are you going? What are you doing? Why did you say such things? Zhilian, I... I was just a little flustered, that's why I said those things, please don't..."

Unfortunately, before she could finish speaking, Zhilian covered her mouth: "You're right, Zhixi. The world is in such chaos now. If the cultivators in our immortal sect can't resist, what will happen to the ordinary people? If this continues, the sky will collapse and the earth will sink, and everyone will perish. But I don't want that."

Zhi Lian shook her head: "From the time I can remember, I have loved everything I have seen: you, Master, Senior Brother, fellow disciples, spiritual flowers and herbs, and kind people who bring delicious pastries to the immortal sect... It is precisely because all of you are so good that I want to do this. I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Go to sleep?" She gave Zhixi a faint smile. Zhixi looked at her smile and felt her eyelids grow heavy. She fell asleep amidst intense worry. Her hand gripped Zhilian's sleeve tightly, but unfortunately, Zhilian ultimately drew her sword and cut the sleeve off.

She pushed open the door and walked out of the house, heading straight for the main hall. Her master, Master Yunqing, was there, his long, ink-black hair tied up with white silk, his dark eyes gazing at the wailing and lamenting world reflected in the Mirror of Heaven and Earth, his young and handsome face now covered in frost.

"Master." Zhi Lian clasped her hands and knelt on one knee to pay her respects, her soft call bringing the other back to his senses.

"Zhi Lian, you're here, so why do you cherish her?" Master Yun Qing flew down from above and came to Zhi Lian's side.

“Zhixi’s spiritual energy is almost completely depleted, so I’ve put her to rest. I checked her spiritual pool and found it to be completely empty. It probably won’t be able to recover for a long time.”

Upon hearing this, Master Yunqing sighed helplessly, "So even her life force and spiritual power couldn't withstand this calamity?"

“Master.” Zhi Lian took a step forward and gently tugged at Yun Qing Zhenren’s sleeve. “When you accepted me as your disciple, you said you would never accept anyone else.” She placed half of the jade pendant that Yun Qing had given her as a token of his personal discipleship into his hand. “Your disciple is determined to go to the Heavenly Cave to help everyone weave the Heavenly Net with spiritual power, as long as it lasts. If your disciple does not return, Master, please accept Zhi Xi as your disciple. She is exceptionally capable, and given time, she will surely be no less capable than me.”

Master Yunqing gripped the half of the jade pendant tightly in his hand, watching his little disciple's retreating figure, a bitter smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. This jade pendant had never been a token of a direct disciple... and the other half of the jade pendant had never been with his eldest disciple either.

He took out the other half of the jade pendant from his pocket and put them back together, but it was all for personal gain from the beginning.

"If I weren't the head of this immortal sect, I wouldn't need to be stationed here. How could I possibly let you go alone?" It's unclear who could hear these words.

When the male protagonist, Zhiheng, received his master's message, he didn't see Zhilian, who was supposed to arrive. He quickly replied to his master, worried that his junior sister might have encountered an accident on her journey.

In mid-air, the net woven from spiritual energy was already in grave danger.

"Ugh! Pfft!" Inside the cave, Zhi Lian suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood. She looked inward at her spiritual pool, where her original body, the Heaven-Mending Stone, lay. Under the circulation of her spiritual power, all the spiritual energy available to it had been absorbed, but it was still not enough.

Duan Lian's spiritual power from the Heaven-Mending Stone was far from sufficient. Wiping the bright red blood from her lips, Zhi Lian made a spell, surrounding herself with an array barrier. Then, she reversed the flow of spiritual power, releasing all the spiritual power within her body.

In an instant, the barrier was filled with the dense spiritual energy she had accumulated over the years. Her body, deprived of spiritual energy, withered rapidly. She closed her eyes, channeled her inner energy, and self-destructed…

In the deserted cave, a multicolored stone used for mending the sky lay quietly, frantically absorbing spiritual energy, becoming increasingly pure and transparent, until finally it had a jade-like luster and emitted a faint light.

The barrier, having lost its spiritual power, had to disappear. The stone, seemingly drawn by the power, flew out of the cave and headed towards the Heavenly Cave.

"What is that!" a disciple of the immortal sect shouted. Zhiheng looked up and saw a piece of jade flying over, growing bigger and bigger, then passing through their heavenly net and patching up the hole in the sky. The hole and the jade disappeared at the same time, and the sky returned to clarity.

"It's the stone used to mend the sky, as recorded in ancient books. When Nuwa mended the sky, she left behind a piece of this stone on earth..."

Zhiheng stared at the vanished Sky-Mending Stone, unable to recover for a long time. The instant the stone reappeared, he seemed to hear his junior sister call out to him, "Senior Brother."
