Chapter Six Filming (1)

Lin Mu arranged several relatively simple and enjoyable shots for today, which is a common approach used by many directors during filming. By using shots with lower difficulty levels, actors can adapt and get into character more quickly.

"Don't be nervous, just think of yourself as Cheng Lu." Gu Yu looked at the person in front of her with some amusement, and when she saw that she seemed a little out of sorts, she whispered a reminder.

"Oh, okay." Ye Chu quickly pulled herself out of her wandering thoughts. Now was not the time for daydreaming; she needed to get back to work.

It has to be said that acting with a movie star was incredibly comfortable. Ye Chu felt an unprecedented sense of exhilaration, and it was a very smooth performance.

At that moment, she forgot the time, forgot she was on a film set, forgot the cameras and crew around her, forgot the person in front of her was Gu Yu, and forgot she was Ye Chu.

Cheng Lu… she felt that this was her name. She was in this cruel and terrifying escape game, working with this tall man named Qing Zhi to solve puzzles and find a way to escape.

“This is your second performance,” Qingzhi said, his tone certain but his questioning. Cheng Lu nodded to him, and the two looked around. They were in a very dilapidated European-style bakery.

Cheng Lu looked at the character name card hanging on her chest. Qing Zhi had told her that in the escape game, everyone would have their own role to play, and only they could see the name card on their chest.

"The assistant to the city's best baker." She read the words on her character card, and based on her role, the identities of those around her became clear. Unfortunately, before she could even feel happy, Qing Zhi's voice rang in her ear: "If you are always so 'brave' in reading out your identity, then I can assure you, you will die very quickly."

Cheng Lu's lips twitched; the slight pride that had just risen within her vanished instantly, replaced by embarrassment. Qing Zhi had mentioned during his explanation that one's character in the game shouldn't be easily revealed to others, because there's a character-stealing system. Some players assigned to characters destined to die will steal other players' character cards to ensure their own survival. There's also another possibility: if your character is extremely crucial in the game, revealing it might attract others to steal it.

"I'm sorry." Cheng Lu apologized honestly. Qing Zhi was the first person she met after surviving a near-death experience, and to be honest, he was very handsome and gave people a strange sense of security, which is why she couldn't help but trust and want to rely on him.

Seemingly seeing through her superficial, appearance-obsessed thoughts, Qingzhi said coldly, "Appearance can sometimes be a perfect way to deceive people." This girl in front of him really didn't know the dangers of the world. In this game, countless people had lost their lives because of a face.

"I understand," Cheng Lu replied seriously, nodding twice to prove she had truly learned something.

"Fool, let's go. I'll take you with me this time, but you'll have to clear the levels on your own after that." Qingzhi glanced outside the bakery: "As for whether you'll come out alive next time, nobody knows."

"Thank you, boss!" Cheng Lu smiled happily, her eyes narrowed. The smile was a little silly, but it made Qing Zhi feel incredibly radiant. In this world without a tomorrow, experiencing one escape after another, he had long forgotten when he last saw such a smile... It seemed like a long time ago, when his little sister was still so small, hugging his leg, looking up at him and laughing as she called him brother.

Sadly, she later succumbed to illness, pale, emaciated, and with a terrifying face, her sunny smile gone. He was never a kind-hearted person; all those escape games had taught him ruthlessness. So why did he save Cheng Lu?

Perhaps it was because when he saw her on the verge of death, he had just come out of that suffocating game scene. For a moment, he saw the sunlight in this fake world, which was so bright that it was almost blinding. And when he looked down, there was this person at his feet. She was lying on the ground, one of her hands was broken, and the bleeding was stopped by the rules.

She lay quietly on the ground, her breathing weak, as if she might die at any moment. Actually, it didn't matter; the rules wouldn't let her die, after all, she had been confirmed to have survived. But… sunlight shone on her, and Qing Zhi remembered her clumsy appearance in the game, practically announcing to everyone, "I'm a newbie." So stupid, yet she tried so hard to survive to the end, and she succeeded.

"Let's go." Composing himself, Qingzhi, always a man of reason, pushed open the door of the bakery and walked out of their "birthplace."

There weren't many pedestrians on the street, and NPCs and players were mixed together, making them difficult to distinguish. What they needed to do now was to find the conditions for survival as soon as possible, or rather... to determine the conditions for death.

"Cut! Great!" Lin Mu shouted happily. Both main characters were in good form. Gu Yu's acting skills were excellent, but Ye Chu was quite surprising. She seemed a little out of sorts before filming started, but she quickly got into character after filming began. Although her acting skills couldn't be compared to Gu Yu's, she not only didn't let Gu Yu lead her, but she also kept Cheng Lu's character in mind. She seemed to be Cheng Lu, making people forget that they were acting.

"You acted very well. I almost forgot you were Ye Chu," Gu Yu said with a smile, her hand involuntarily landing on Ye Chu's head and ruffling it. "Mmm! So excellent! So well-behaved!"

"You flatter me, Actor Gu. Without you, I might not have been able to perform so exceptionally well. You really made me feel like you were Qing Zhi." Ye Chu said with sparkling eyes. Although she was excited inside, she still maintained a ladylike smile on her face.

"Actually, you can just call me by my name. Using 'you' makes me feel like I'm very old," Gu Yu said, narrowing his eyes.

"Ah! I'm sorry, Mr. Gu, you're not old, really!" Ye Chu explained awkwardly, "I just felt that you are, after all, a senior, with more experience and qualifications than me, so it's more respectful!" Waaah, my idol, I really didn't mean it, you're not old at all, you're super handsome.

"Then just call me Gu Yu, okay?"

Hearing this, Ye Chu's eyes darted around: "Let's just call him Actor Gu. I don't need to use the formal 'you' title. It feels more... appropriate that way."

“Okay, then let’s do it this way.” Gu Yu glanced at his assistant, who was gesturing to remind him of the time, and his manager, who looked rather grim, and said to Ye Chu, “Sorry, I think my manager will get stressed if I don’t go over soon.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Chu looked at Gu Yu's assistant and agent and quickly said, "It's alright, it's alright, Mr. Gu, take care."
