Chapter Sixty-One

The box office of "Me and Her" is growing at an astonishing rate every day, and countless netizens have said that they have watched it three or even four times.

Feng Jing works as an HR professional at a clothing manufacturing company. Recently, the company has been recruiting new employees, and she's been overwhelmed by the hundreds of resumes she receives every day. Finally, she got a Sunday off and went to the cinema to see a movie that's been generating a lot of buzz lately.

Holding popcorn and a Coke, she entered the theater and was surprised to find it already packed with people. There was a full ten-minute timer for ticket checking and entry, but when she checked her watch, it had only been two minutes since ticket checking had started. It seemed like everyone had entered as soon as it was time to go.

And coincidentally, her seat was surrounded by couples...

Alone amidst the couples, she expressionlessly stuffed popcorn into her mouth.

"Excuse me, may I ask if I can switch seats with your girlfriend?" The man who asked was wearing a gray suit and had a briefcase on his lap; he was probably an office worker as well.

The couple he was asking were sitting to Feng Jing's right. The boy glanced at the seats and felt that there wasn't much difference whether his girlfriend sat to his right or left, so he nodded in agreement.

After the man changed seats and sat down, Feng Jing noticed his hands on his briefcase. They had fair skin, long and slender fingers with distinct knuckles, and seemed like hands that could play the piano.

The movie was about to start, and after the lights in the theater went out, Feng Jing suddenly heard a man lower his voice and say to her, "Hello, are you also here to watch the movie alone?"

Feng Jing nodded subconsciously in the darkness, then realized that the other person might not be able to see her, so she added, "Yes."

"I heard that the story in this movie is based on a true story. I saw someone say that it has the magic to make people believe in love. I wonder if that's true?"

The man's voice was very pleasant, much like a melodious violin piece. His voice was lowered and slightly hoarse, making it sound like he was whispering some secret.

"Yes, I heard about it online, so I came to check it out."

The movie began, and the narrator began reciting a poem, the camera moving gently in sync with the narration.

The first thing you see is a pair of white sneakers and sky-blue school uniform pants, and the footsteps are a little hurried. Only at the top of the stairs can you see the whole person: an impeccably handsome face, with a touch of youthful innocence and sharpness.

But this seemingly sharp-looking boy, with extremely light and delicate movements, placed a folded letter on a table in the classroom, then dashed into the next classroom and sat down in a seat.

"Hey, what's wrong with you this semester? Why are you running back to the classroom so fast every time after morning exercises? Hey, I saw you put something on Chengjie's desk next door. What's going on? Are you chasing someone?" The person who came up was probably the boy's friend. He had also run up and was a little out of breath when he spoke.

"Shut up!" The boy seemed annoyed that he hadn't managed to shake off his friend and that his secret had been discovered. He scratched his hair in frustration.

"No, science and humanities are diametrically opposed, and now you're giving a science student a love letter?" The boy's friend leaned on the table, then scrutinized the other person with a look of disapproval: "She's prettier than your poetry collection?"

"Pfft, hahaha, a poetry collection? What the heck?" an audience member chuckled quietly.

"You don't understand..." With the boy's words, the scene changed, and memories resurfaced...

When Chengjie appeared on screen looking disgusted and said that the other person could use her toilet, the theater erupted in laughter; when the two looked at each other and the poem appeared as the boy's inner monologue, everyone in the theater had a maternal smile on their face; when the flashback ended and the girl picked up the letter on the table and opened it, everyone in the theater was very tense.

They could only see the girl put the letter into her bag, but they couldn't see her expression or know what she was thinking.

"Thinking back to my high school days, I also secretly left things I wanted to give to the girl I liked on her desk," one boy remarked.

The story unfolds gradually, with some parts making people laugh out loud and others bringing joy and blessings. When the story reaches the scene of the forced kiss, many girls in the theater let out low screams, and some couples even kissed each other unwillingly.

Feng Jing sat there, her emotions stirred by the plot, sometimes happy, sometimes sad. When she saw them finally get married in the church, and the groom kiss the bride, she smiled, but tears still streamed down her face.

The lights in the theater came back on, but no one got up; everyone seemed still caught up in the story. After a long while, some people finally got up and left, followed by others one after another.

Feng Jing packed her things and was about to get up and leave when the man sitting next to her suddenly spoke up: "I think the comments online are absolutely accurate."

Feng Jing looked at him; he had a face with regular features, and his eyes were as gentle as a spring breeze. "But for me, it's not just about making me believe in love." He looked up at Feng Jing. "It's about letting me encounter love. I wonder if you would be willing to give me a chance to get to know you?"

Feng Jing's face showed undisguised surprise: "Huh?"

The other person didn't seem to mind her blank expression and repeated, "May I have a chance to get to know you?"

Feng Jing then realized that the other person was trying to flirt with her. She looked at the man and said seriously, "I just watched a movie."

“No.” The man smiled. “My name is Jiang Yu, and I work as a sales manager at Baiyang Clothing Company. Feng Jing, right?”

Jiang Yu. Feng Jing knew this name because they worked at the same company, but in different departments. She wasn't responsible for negotiating with other departments, and despite the large number of people at company meetings, she had never met him, so she only knew his name…

I never expected that the other person would recognize me.

"Actually, I often appear around your department. It's just that you seem very focused on your work and never look up at me." The man's tone was somewhat disappointed, then he looked at Feng Jing with a hint of expectation: "I wonder if there's a chance this time?"

...

The final screening of "Me and Her" was still sold out, and the film achieved remarkable success from beginning to end.

On the last day of the theatrical run of "Me and Her," one film review stood out and was pushed to the top. The review wasn't a professional critique; it simply told a story.

The story's protagonist is the reviewer herself. In her review, she recounts how, while watching the film "Me and Her," she encountered a colleague from the same company who had a crush on her in the theater. They worked in different departments, and she was unaware that he was secretly observing her, so initially, no one came out.
