Immediately afterwards, Michael and others forwarded the official Weibo post.
Ye Chu sat on the sofa, chewing on a boneless chicken foot, her head resting on Ye Jing's somewhat thin shoulder.
"Work?" Ye Jing asked her. The TV in the living room was showing the latest episode of Escape. Ye Jing wasn't wearing her glasses and couldn't see Ye Chu's phone screen clearly.
"No, it's just to commemorate the time I spent with some friends." Ye Chu swallowed the chewed meat. "Auntie, I went to film a movie a while ago."
"Isn't that great? Auntie will go to the theater to see it when it's released. What's the movie about?"
"Hmm... past lives, present lives, and a love story between a human and a ghost?" Ye Chu thought for a moment, then burst out laughing: "The story is pretty good."
"Okay, Auntie will definitely support you." Ye Jing put her arm around Ye Chu's shoulder and patted her gently: "Don't overwork yourself, eat well."
"Okay." Ye Chu ate another boneless chicken foot, filling the entire living room with a rich aroma of chicken feet. She sniffed and asked, "Auntie, would you like me to go out with you tomorrow?"
"Do you have work tomorrow? If not, that would be great." The TV show was at a thrilling point, with several new players who had barely survived being chewed up and eaten by monsters.
Seeing this, Ye Chu paused in her chewing: "I have an interview program the day after tomorrow, I'll spend some time with you tomorrow."
The next day was sunny and clear. Ye Jing got up early and was in a good mood, humming her old tune as she prepared breakfast in the kitchen.
When Ye Chu finished washing up and came to the living room, a fragrant ham and egg dish with white porridge was placed on the dining table for her to enjoy.
After having breakfast, Ye Chu changed her clothes and put on a mask before the two of them went out.
The neighborhood was in a remote location, and it was still early, so they couldn't get a taxi. Ye Jing suggested they walk slowly to the main road. Ye Chu took her hand, thinking that since she came here, she and Ye Jing had rarely seen each other. Occasionally, Ye Jing would come to see her, but she would always run into Ye Chu, who was busy with work.
Thinking about it, she unconsciously tightened her grip on his arm.
Once they reached a busier main street, the two hailed a taxi. The driver was incredibly skilled, and Ye Chu was almost caught off guard when they arrived at the mall entrance.
Today, Ye Chu mainly wanted to buy two new outfits for Ye Jing at the mall. Ye Jing was the complete opposite; wherever she went, she would immediately think about whether anything she saw would suit Ye Chu.
"Shall I buy you a jade bracelet to wear?" Ye Chu pulled Ye Jing into the antique-style store, where the young lady at the counter welcomed them with a smile.
The selection process took several hours, and in the end, Ye Chu chose a high-quality lucky bracelet for Ye Jing.
The two of them, one big and one small, spent the whole day shopping, carrying countless shopping bags until they felt they were getting heavy, before finally deciding to go home.
On the way back, Ye Jing touched the bracelet on her wrist, her eyes softening.
After getting out of the car, the two of them slowly walked down the quiet path. Ye Jing then slowly began to tell Ye Chu what she had been thinking about: "I haven't told you about your mother's younger days in a long time."
"When your dad first brought your mom home, I was still a rebellious teenager." It must have been a happy memory, because Ye Jing was very happy. "Back then, I was very disobedient. I dyed my hair, got my ears pierced, and learned to swear. Yeah, I skipped school too. So when I first met your mom, I didn't like her at all. She was so different from me. I thought she was the kind of person who knew how to please elders, being so well-mannered and polite."
“I’m my parents’ youngest child, and the whole family dotes on me. But when your mother came, everyone revolved around her, and I disliked her even more. We had a long argument…” Ye Jing patted Ye Chu’s hand and turned to look at her: “Do you know what part of you is most like your mother? Your mouth and eyes.”
"It's all because I'm good at being charming," she said.
"Auntie, can you tell me more about Mom and Dad?" For some reason, Ye Chu suddenly remembered that dream.
"Speaking of which, you rarely ask about your parents. You asked once or twice when you were little, but not anymore as you grew up." Ye Jing's voice was gentle, and as she spoke, Ye Chu could clearly see the loving couple.
“When you were just learning to walk, I would go to your house to see you every day, but you would never let me hold you. You liked to stick to the little boy next door and call him ‘brother’ more often than anyone else.”
"And then what?"
"Later, your father was transferred to a hospital in a big city for liver intervention, and your whole family moved there."
ah……
Suddenly, the hazy memories in her mind became much clearer. Ye Chu remembered her father, who looked sallow in the white hospital room, and the long, drawn-out beeping of the medical equipment, announcing the news of death.
She heard her mother's heart-wrenching cries, and was held tightly in her mother's arms, her tears soaking her clothes.
“After your father passed away, I visited you and your mother more and more frequently. Your mother’s health deteriorated; she said she couldn’t sleep or eat. Later, her mental state also deteriorated…” Many years have passed, but Ye Jing will always remember: “I took you to the supermarket to buy things so she could rest at home. Then, while we were in the supermarket, we received a call from the police. Your mother walked out of the door and ran onto the main road.”
Ye Jing stopped in her tracks: "I've always blamed her, Chu Chu. You were so young, why couldn't she have held on and survived for you? Everyone in the family is gone, Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister-in-law... all that's left is me and you."
Ye Chu suddenly hugged the thin person in front of her. She had always known that her aunt had never married in order to take good care of her.
