The escape plot isn't complicated, but besides the actors' performances, it also relies heavily on post-production special effects, so there aren't many scenes that need to be filmed on location.
The filming location was far from the city, and everyone was in a hurry. Despite trying to speed up, they arrived at the location at dusk. However, filming wouldn't be hindered by time constraints. Lin Mu quickly decided that everyone should pack up first, have dinner, and then film the night scenes.
Although this place is sparsely populated, it has become a filming location for many movie crews, and there is a small town located here. The place is not big, but it provides homestays, and the entire film crew relied on the homestays to meet their daily needs.
The night scene was one of the few heartwarming moments in the film "Escape." The campfire lit up Ye Chu's face. After learning and exchanging ideas with the other actors in the same production, she was able to get into character much faster than before and had a better grasp of the emotions involved.
Ye Chu, or rather Cheng Lu, sat by the campfire, stretching out her hands to absorb the warmth around the flames. The light and warmth drove away the fear and cold, finally giving her mind a moment of relaxation. After a day of chasing, running endlessly forward was the only thing she had done. Qing Zhi leaned against the trunk of a large tree next to her, and whether it was an illusion or not, his expression seemed a little softer in the firelight.
Ye Chu moved closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. The forest was quiet. The game's mechanics were strange; they had no identities and were hunted by monsters during the day, only able to escape danger and rest at night. The monsters seemed afraid of the night, and even stranger, they hadn't seen a single living person or even a corpse besides themselves so far.
"Has this happened before?" she asked softly, and Qingzhi replied that no. This instance is special, Cheng Lu thought. Their only goal now is to get out of this forest. In an instance like this with no end in sight, there is a default rule in its settings, which is that the only way to survive is to "escape from the environment itself".
"Can we get out?" Ye Chu felt uneasy. For some reason, her heart suddenly started racing, and she had a bad feeling. "I don't have a good feeling... We must have overlooked something?"
"I'll find a way." Qingzhi's hand landed on her waist, warm yet with an undeniable strength: "Trust me."
Cheng Lu closed her eyes and silently replied in her heart: "I've always only ever trusted you." She drifted into a hazy dream, a jumble of chaotic noises that gave her a headache. She saw her parents, arguing every day. Cheng Lu had even wondered if they would continue arguing forever.
She also saw herself. She opened a package with unknown contents, and something inside seemed to surprise her, but before she could see it, the dream changed.
She dreamt of this forest. She was walking alone; Qingzhi was gone, and no one would hold her hand when she was afraid. In her dream, she ran desperately through the forest. There were no monsters chasing her, but she couldn't see the exit...
"Lu, get up." Qingzhi shook her awake. It was still dark, but they had to set off; rest was always too short. Her complexion was not good. Qingzhi looked at her pale lips and leaned down to kiss them gently. The kiss was devoid of any desire; it was simply a light, fleeting touch on her lips.
She followed behind Qingzhi, stealing glances at him. Qingzhi rarely showed his gentle side; most of the time he was cold and wise, seemingly always maintaining his indifference no matter where he was. But the kiss just now was different; it felt weightless on his lips, yet carried a comforting meaning.
"Cut!" Lin Mu said, "That's a wrap and time to sleep!"
The cheers of the crowd pulled the two protagonists back to reality. Ye Chu quickly pulled her hand away from Gu Yu's grasp. After the scene ended, she immediately returned to her original state, becoming the ultimate fangirl of her idol again. Her mind was filled with thoughts of kissing and holding hands with her idol today.
Her heart raced, and she even felt a little dizzy. From Gu Yu's perspective, he saw the person in front of him with her ears turned red, her head bowed and her eyes lowered, not daring to look up at him.
I'm shy.
Realizing this, Gu Yu was somewhat pleased. He couldn't help but smile and teased, half-jokingly, "I wonder if this counts as your first on-screen kiss?"
Sure enough, Ye Chu blushed immediately. She had been in the industry for quite a while, but had never experienced any major ups and downs. She didn't get many roles, and most of them were supporting characters with less than half the screen time... Let alone kissing scenes, she hadn't even survived to the end.
The entertainment industry is cruel. No matter how good your acting skills are, it might not be enough. If you don't have connections, capital, or a significant following, it's very difficult to make it big. She worked hard to climb to the middle ranks, then struggled in the lower levels, but still couldn't get a chance... No, she finally got her chance; escaping was her opportunity.
Is this a stroke of luck? Ye Chu felt a pang of self-mockery. She never imagined such a day would come, but it had arrived. Therefore, she would seize this opportunity, using her escape to broaden her acting range and win more excellent scripts. She was no longer willing to be a perennial mediocre supporting actress!
What Ye Chu didn't know was that at that very moment, the trending topics about her on Weibo had exploded.
Following #GuActorReturnsToTheBigScreen# are #YeChuTreasureGirl# and #YeChuMakesAComeback?#, both titles are quite puzzling. Most people don't know this person named Ye Chu, so they clicked on them out of curiosity.
