Chapter 5

=================

"Is this its cub?" Lian Yun asked in surprise.

"It should be." Lana stared at the little white ball for a while and could only come to this conclusion.

But this little thing is too strange.

The big flying gerbil had obviously lost its aggressiveness. It bent its front paws towards Lian Yun, dug a hole, buried its nose in it, and kept its tail tightly attached to its side.

"It's a sign of surrender," Lanner explained. "Flying gerbils have always been very hostile to humans, and they usually only make this gesture towards their own kind. And, it's directed at you, my Lord."

Quite perceptive.

Even though Lanna was holding a broken sword against it, it did not surrender to the obviously stronger Lanna, but instead faced Lian Yun.

It was as if he knew that Lana obeyed Lianyun.

The big flying gerbil raised its head, and the little white ball immediately came to its head, trying to help it support its heavy head.

But the rat dodged, stretched out its tongue and licked the little white ball a few times reluctantly, then arched its nose and pushed it towards Lian Yun.

Lian Yun kept paying attention to the rat's movements and remained silent for a long time.

This mouse was very smart. It knew it was dying and there was no need to plead for mercy. It did this in the hope that they would let its children go.

Little White Ball blinked his round eyes, tears streaming down his face in anxiety, but he did not dare to disobey the Rat.

Lian Yun pondered for a few moments, and finally said, "I will let it go."

The rat seemed to understand what Lian Yun said, but still nudged Xiao Baituan.

"Still not satisfied?"

Lanna understood what the rat meant, his eyes turned slightly cold, and he moved the broken sword in his hand closer.

How dare a monster attempt to be raised by his god?

Lana looked at Lian Yun, afraid that she would be confused by this scene.

Fortunately, Lian Yun shook her head. She had no intention of raising a monster. Not to mention the fact that this little creature was rejecting her now, she had only arrived here yesterday and was unfamiliar with everything. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to raise the cub well.

The big flying gerbil seemed to understand that the two of them would not accept it, so it had to lower its head silently.

The little white ball quickly came to its side and gently rubbed its cheek.

Lian Yun sighed lightly, "Don't worry about them, let's go."

Lanna had no objection. If the rat was let go, it would not survive long.

When the two walked back, the wind and sand had subsided, even less than yesterday.

Perhaps there is some pattern to the wind.

Lian Yun clicked on the task as he walked.

[Killing Flying Gerbils: 3/1 completed, submit?]

Lian Yun clicked "Yes", and then the progress bar of [Lv.2] above his head was half completed.

[Submission successful, please draw the reward weapon. 】

Three treasure bags appeared on the light screen.

Another card drawing game.

Lian Yun thought for a moment, then turned his head to look at Lana beside him and said, "Left, center, right. You choose one."

Lian Yun accurately caught Lanna's fleeting curiosity, and before she could say anything more, Lanna quickly gave her answer: "I choose."

Lian Yun raised his eyebrows and gladly accepted the request from his warrior who was always sensible and never asked too many questions.

Then she clicked on the treasure bag in the middle.

A dazzling white light flashed, and an extra weapon appeared in Lian Yun's backpack.

[Goddess's Holy Sword: A sword wielded by the goddess. Only those with faith can wield it with ease. Attributes: Attack +100. Usage Requirements: Attack > Lv. 3]

Lian Yun repeated this silently in his mind, thinking that he didn't have the attack level, and this weapon was obviously prepared for Lanner.

I just don't know if Lanna can use it.

The moment he clicked the icon and the holy sword appeared in his hand, Lian Yun had only one thought:

Heavy! Very heavy!

The sword suddenly sank, taking her arm with it. Lanna's pupils shrank slightly, and she quickly reached out to grasp the hilt of the sword, but the sword slid back strangely, and the place where Lanna grasped became the blade.

Light blue blood flowed out from the palm of his right hand, passed through the sword, and before it dripped onto the ground, it was absorbed by the pure sword body, leaving no trace.

Lian Yun stared at the sword in a daze, then looked at Lana, whose expression remained unchanged. He reacted quickly and took out a small bottle of medicine and handed it to him.

Lanna shook his head, grasped the hilt of the sword, lifted it up and placed it between the two of them.

"I don't know what material it is made of to have such weight." Lanna.

The pure white and holy hilt is engraved with the heavy golden patterns on Lian Yunyi, and there is a groove engraved on the sword body from the tip to the handle.

Lanna's blood seemed to be absorbed by this groove. After absorbing the blood, the entire sword seemed to be fully opened, gleaming with a faint light, exactly the same as the light on Lian Yun's body.

Lanna opened his right palm towards Lianyun. The sword mark on his palm healed at a visible speed, leaving only a shallow scar.

Lian Yun was stunned again.

"Sir, there is no need to worry about me." Lana took the initiative to comfort Lian Yun.

"It seems to be performing some ritual to test my loyalty." Lanna explained to Lianyun in a gentle tone, as if he was not the one who was injured.

And he passed the test.

Seeing Lian Yun's reaction, he pondered for a moment and then softly expressed his thoughts: "In fact, my lord, I would love to have such a sword to always show my loyalty to you."

"You can always trust me." Lanna's deep blue eyes were clear to the eyes, yet seemed to hide many secrets and were unfathomable.

Lian Yun looked slightly stunned.

The inexplicable emotional sensation was transmitted to his brain, but Lian Yun did not feel any deception or threat.

He expressed his thoughts that he had never expressed out loud.

Although Lian Yun had already realized that he was reliable, this was the first time he was so clear about the strange connection between the two.

Lanna's unconditional obedience and trust in her, and her keen perception of Lanna's emotions.

Everything seemed so unreasonable, but they were like a natural match, born with attributes that matched each other.

She suddenly thought of the question she had casually asked Lanner this morning: "Do you believe me?"

Lanna gave the accurate answer without hesitation.

"Okay." Lian Yun raised the corners of his mouth and felt inexplicably happy.

Since it was God's will that gifted her with an impeccable warrior, why wouldn't she accept it?

Just as the most loyal believers passed the rigorous test of the Holy Sword, Lian Yun also accepted the help and sense of security provided by Lanna.

Lian Yun put away the medicine bottle, and the two of them walked in silence all the way.

Not long after, the two of them suddenly raised their heads and looked in the same direction.

Lian Yun looked at Lan Na: "Did you hear it too?"

Lanna nodded, his expression darkening: "Over there...someone is shouting."

At the end of a stretch of yellow sand, several figures appeared, slowly moving towards this side step by step on the soft sand.

When they saw the two men stop, they were obviously very surprised and excited. They waved their hands at them and quickened their pace.

"Let's go and take a look." Lian Yun walked over and Lana followed silently.

There were three men, covered in dust but neatly dressed. Their attire was simple, but it was rare to see such plain attire in such a dusty and windy place.

"Great! We finally see humans! We've been lost for two..." The three were obviously very excited, but they stopped talking abruptly.

Lian Yun followed their gaze and glanced at Lana.

Okay...just looking at the outfit, it seems like Lanna is the one who should be asked for help.

Lana stood in front of Lian Yun without saying a word, and swung the pure white holy sword in his hand, making a sharp sound of wind.

The three of them fell silent instantly, some even feeling as if they had been shot.

Lian Yun didn't stop Lana. He tilted his head slightly and asked the three people, "What do you do?"

The three of them looked at each other and finally pushed out the brown-haired man who looked the smartest.

He brushed off the dust on his body, took out a dagger from his arms, handed it to his companion behind him, and then performed a full salute to Lian Yun.

His voice was pleasant, and he used skilled diplomatic tactics: "Dear Madam, I apologize for our recklessness."

"We are the pathfinders of the caravan, and the team is taking a short rest at the back. We were originally going to cross the desert to do business, but we were lost in a huge sandstorm yesterday morning." The brown-haired man was obviously much more respectful.

"Excuse me, do you know the way out of the desert?"

Lian Yun had an unfathomable look on his face as he exchanged glances with Lana.

But they rushed over without thinking much, until they were frightened by Lanna, and then they realized how unusual it was for only two people to be in the dangerous desert.

What's more, only one of them was armed.

Either they are extremely capable, or extremely vicious...

No matter which one it was, they didn't dare to ask for help rashly.

They said the caravan was behind them just to give the impression that they were not alone. They didn't even tell them the caravan's direction, just casually asking for directions.

Be alert enough and be able to adapt quickly.

They were so excited when they first saw the two people, as if they had seen a savior. Lian Yun guessed that perhaps the caravan was not just a simple reorganization.

Lian Yun pressed down Lanna's sword-holding hand and smiled gently at the three of them. "We have no ill intentions. I am the lord of a nearby town, and I would like to invite you to rest in the town for a while. Are you sure you don't need our help?"

The brown-haired man was shocked: "There's a town nearby?!"

Lian Yun smiled back.

The brown-haired man turned around and whispered a few words to his companion, and there seemed to be a little argument. Finally, he turned around with a much more serious expression.

"Please allow me to lead the way for you two."

Lana followed Lian Yun silently, always paying attention to the movements of the three people. After a few minutes, they climbed over a small sand dune and the full picture of the caravan appeared.

A group of more than ten people were standing or lying around five cargo boxes on the ground. Animals that looked like camels and horses were taken aside to drink water and eat.

Lian Yun recognized it at a glance as a Luo beast, a must-have mount in the game.

As soon as they appeared, everyone's eyes turned to them. When they found the unfamiliar Lian Yun and Lana, their voices of greeting paused.

"Who are these two?"

A middle-aged man with a beard put down his work and walked over, looking at the two of them politely.

The brown-haired man introduced the two parties: "This is the leader of our caravan."

"This lady is the lord of a nearby town."

A look of surprise flashed in the middle-aged man's eyes, and then he reached out and took off his hat and saluted Lian Yun.

"I am Garin, greetings to the Lord."

Lian Yun nodded gently, his expression gentle and proper: "Hello, my name is Lian Yun."

After receiving friendly greetings, the atmosphere between the two sides became much more harmonious.

Garin waved his hand, and the scattered people quickly gathered together. Most of them were in good spirits, except for a little girl who was limping and was supported by the people around her.

Garin explained, "We were originally planning to cross this desert, but we got lost because of the strong wind yesterday. My little niece was also trampled by a camel beast that suddenly lost control of its emotions."

The little girl had two playful pigtails and looked gloomy and unhappy.

After hearing what Garin said, she broke free from the people around her, hopped forward on one foot, and said angrily with puffed cheeks, "They didn't mean to do that! It's all because of the flying gerbil's scent. I had already prepared a herbal bag to block out the scent..."

Garin supported the little girl helplessly, and without arguing with her, he turned to look at Lian Yun expectantly: "We would be very grateful if we could go to your town to rest for a while."

As soon as he finished speaking, an old, hoarse voice came from the crowd behind him: "It's just... no offense. We've walked this road many times and have never seen any town."

This person seemed to be of high status. As soon as he spoke, everyone made way for him.

He was wearing a cloak that covered his entire body. His face was hidden in the shadow of the cloak, so his expression could not be seen. He only stretched out a pair of skinny and pale hands and clasped them in front of him.

Apparently, his question was approved by Garin.

"You two showed up at the perfect time." The hoarse voice sounded again, and the atmosphere around him seemed to grow colder.

At this time, the people in the caravan had different expressions, and they all looked at the two of them with some questions.

Under such intense gaze, the black-haired girl in white had no expression on her face. She touched her chin with one hand and looked up and down at the man's cloak, as if she was considering something.

The blond man behind her looked ragged, but he was not to be underestimated. His exposed skin was covered in scars, and he exuded a murderous aura. The white sword in his hand was completely inconsistent with his temperament, more like the sword of the girl beside him.

He said nothing, his eyes blank, and his hand holding the sword clenched silently, as if waiting for the girl's order.

The cloaked man's clasped hands moved slightly, and his veins bulged.

Everyone held their breath involuntarily. The scene was silent, with only the sound of the wind whistling in their ears.

After a long time, just when they thought a war was about to break out, Lian Yun suddenly clapped his hands, scaring everyone.

"Lanna, what do you think of this cloak?" Lian Yun asked, raising his head slightly.

Everyone: ? ?

The man called Lana lowered his head slightly, looking respectful, as if the accumulation of power just now had never happened.

"I think it looks good. Would you like a cloak, my lord?"

The cloaked man's skinny hands trembled slightly, as if he had been insulted.

Lian Yun shrugged: "I don't need it, but I think you do."

Lanna's eyes lit up with gratitude. "Thank you, sir. I will try to learn how to sew a cloak when I get back."

Lian Yunshen nodded in agreement, then looked at the dark shadow beneath the brim of the cloaked man's hat. Belatedly, he stopped talking and said, "Hey? You don't think we're going to steal your cloak, do you?"

The girl shook her head sheepishly. "I don't like things that others have worn. Besides, I respect the elderly and love the young."

A crisp bell rang, and the little girl was the first to break free from the stalemate. She was supported by the people around her and hurriedly walked towards the camel beast that was becoming restless again.

The cloaked man seemed to want to say something, but Garin stopped him and smiled at Lian Yun in a friendly manner: "Mr. Rock always thinks about our caravan, but I think your concerns are unnecessary. Perhaps the lord is a great magician with considerable attainments?"

"Hidden town, it makes sense."

"How about I offer you a deal?" Garen's tone seemed much faster than before.

"If you need a cloak, after a brief tidy up in your town, we will offer you the expensive cloaks from this trade crate as a reward."

Lian Yun did not answer directly, but just cast his gaze towards the cargo box behind them. The uncontrollable excitement in his eyes made people feel uneasy.

The girl's cheerful voice clearly contained a smile, but it froze Garen's smile.

"Just the cloak? But I want them all."
