Chapter 127 Aunt Wang is Detained

Chapter 127 Aunt Wang is Detained

Her voice remained soft and sweet, but her tone carried an undeniable firmness:

"Auntie, if you're not paying, does that mean you don't want the money? Did I misunderstand?"

She tilted her head slightly, looking at Aunt Wang with sincere eyes, as if she were simply confirming a simple fact.

"There are still many customers waiting, so I'll give this to the next person first?"

"You!" Aunt Wang realized what was happening and immediately flew into a rage!

She was used to people giving in to her excuses like "I don't know how to scan QR codes" or "I'm too old," so she had never suffered such "injustice" before.

Especially in front of so many neighbors, he was "tricked" by a girl who looked like a high school student!

Her harsh face flushed instantly, and her voice rose, filled with sharp anger: "What do you mean?! I think you just look down on us old people! You're trying to take advantage of me because I don't know how to use a cell phone, aren't you?! Give me the food!"

As she spoke, she actually reached out and tried to forcibly take back the curry rice!

Su Xiaonuan had long anticipated that she would do this.

She didn't dodge or evade, but simply shifted her feet slightly, cleverly turning half her body to the side. At the same time, she raised her arm and steadily pushed the curry rice further inside the stall, completely escaping Aunt Wang's "attack range".

“Auntie, you’re not right about that.” Su Xiaonuan’s voice remained calm, even with a hint of patient persuasion, as if she were reasoning with an ignorant child. “Paying for things is a matter of course. If you don’t know how to scan the code, you can ask your family to help you, or you can pay in cash. I’m just a small business, I don’t offer credit, and I can’t give things away for free.”

She paused, her gaze sweeping over the little boy beside Aunt Wang, who was staring blankly at her, slightly frightened by the sudden turn of events. Her tone softened, and she said meaningfully:

"Besides, Auntie, you're with your grandson. We adults need to set a good example for the child, right? Let the child know that if he likes something, he has to work hard to get it, and he can't just... reach out and take it. Don't you think that makes sense?"

These words, though spoken softly, were clear and precise, like a soft knife, striking precisely at Wang Dama's most cherished "face" and her attempt to conceal her greed for petty gains.

Especially the last sentence about "setting an example for children," which left her speechless for a moment, her old face turning red and then white, then white and then red again.

From the previously silent crowd, someone couldn't help but let out a very low chuckle, followed by several suppressed coughs; clearly, everyone was trying hard to hold back their laughter.

The look in his eyes as he looked at Su Xiaonuan changed from initial sympathy and worry to surprise and a hint of admiration.

This little girl looks so soft and gentle, but I never expected her to be so prickly inside!

The counterattack was so "harmless," yet so sharp! It left her no room to vent her anger!

Aunt Wang was so angry that her chest heaved violently. She pointed at Su Xiaonuan and stammered "you, you, you" for a long time, but couldn't utter a complete sentence.

Looking at the eyes of those around her, who wanted to laugh but dared not, and even those with a hint of schadenfreude, and then at Su Xiaonuan's clear, seemingly pure eyes, she felt a surge of anger stuck in her throat, unable to rise or fall.

Finally, she stomped her foot angrily, grabbed her still-dazed grandson, and squeezed out of the line, cursing, "What lousy food! It looks awful! Who wants it! Come on, Grandma will take you to buy KFC!"

As they watched Aunt Wang's disheveled figure leave, a soft, relieved sigh rang out from the group.

Immediately afterward, the next customer stepped forward, quickly scanned the code to pay, took the curry pork chop rice handed over by An Ran, and even secretly gave Su Xiaonuan a thumbs up, whispering, "Girl, well done!"

Su Xiaonuan merely smiled, her lips curving slightly beneath her mask, before resuming her focused work, as if the little incident was just an insignificant interlude.

The rich and enticing aroma of curry still lingers in the air, mixed with the crispy fragrance of pork chops, enveloping the entire street in this aroma.

Soon another customer, who seemed a little dazed, came in wearing a white mask and a baseball cap and bought a curry pork chop rice. Su Xiaonuan couldn't help but take a second look, but didn't pay much attention, only keeping a watchful eye on him.

Soon it was time to close up shop. Su Xiaonuan stretched and checked her current merit points: 9090. Although the merit points she earned from selling food each day were not as much as what she received from last week's assessment, it was still a simple source of income.

However, the farce involving Aunt Wang did not end there.

Perhaps feeling humiliated and enraged, Aunt Wang went to the street management office to cause trouble again when Su Xiaonuan was packing up her stall. She accused Su Xiaonuan of operating without a license and selling unclean food, and even tried to push the staff who came to mediate.

This time, her behavior was clearly captured on surveillance video, and several neighbors who couldn't stand it any longer came forward to testify. Ultimately, she was given a five-day administrative detention by the police officers from the local police station who rushed to the scene after being informed of the incident for disturbing public order and making false accusations.

When the news reached the neighborhood, many of the neighbors who had been bullied by her secretly cheered. When Su Xiaonuan found out, she just shook her head and didn't say anything more.

On the way home after packing up, Qin Haochu rode his electric scooter first, carrying the ingredients and tools, while Su Xiaonuan and An Ran walked slowly behind.

As Anran passed a small park in the middle of the street, she paused and said she wanted to get some fresh air.

Su Xiaonuan then sat down with her on the bench.

Not long after, Su Xiaonuan saw Qin Haochu return, obviously having settled his things and come looking for her.

He walked up to An Ran, and the two stood a few steps apart. The afterglow of the setting sun cast a soft, warm golden hue on their figures.

Su Xiaonuan tactfully moved to the side, pretending to look down at her phone, but her ears involuntarily perked up.

"...Anran, can we talk?" Qin Haochu's voice was much lower than usual, with a hint of hoarseness and caution.

An Ran didn't look at him; her gaze fell on the children playing in the distance, and her profile appeared somewhat aloof.

"What should we talk about? How you schemed for this, or how easily I'm fooled?"

"I know I was wrong." Qin Haochu's voice was soft, yet exceptionally clear. "Using that method... was despicable. I don't ask for your immediate forgiveness, just... don't push me away, give me a chance to make amends, okay?"

An Ran remained silent for a long time, so long that Su Xiaonuan thought she wouldn't answer.

The evening breeze ruffled the stray hairs on her forehead, and she finally sighed softly, her voice heavy with weariness and a hint of barely perceptible weakness: "Qin Haochu, I need time... to think it over."
