Sang Ning hummed in agreement, "I'll prepare a farewell banquet for you all tonight."

After a pause, Sang Ning asked, "Do the children know?"
"We told them in advance, and they accepted it well."
Emmanuel's words were tinged with resentment, "A bunch of heartless brats. We've taught them for so long, and when they found out we were leaving, they didn't show any sadness except for a brief silence."
"It's such a waste of their love and care."

Sang Ning rolled her eyes. "Just wait and see, tonight you and Elliott are going to be drowned in gifts and the tears of those little brats."

As it turned out, she was right. Within minutes of the farewell banquet starting, the kids lined up to give their teacher gifts.
The gifts were varied and not particularly valuable, but they were all handmade by the kids themselves while they were home in the evenings.
Some are abstract clay figurines made from soil they personally dug up from the oasis, others are abstract bamboo-woven rabbits, and so on.
When each child presents a gift, they ask the teacher if they can stay.
After being rejected, tears started streaming down her face, and she threw herself into their arms, sobbing loudly that she couldn't bear to part with her teacher.
