Chapter 2 A Troublesome Family

Chapter 2 A Troublesome Family

The road down the mountain was bumpy and she almost slipped several times because of her ill-fitting shoes.

She walked carefully. The path turned a corner in front of her and there was a deep pool next to it.

Ye Rou glanced casually and her gaze suddenly froze.

There is a person floating in the pool!

Seeing that the man's chest was still heaving, Ye Rou did not hesitate. She threw away the sickle, jumped into the pool, quickly approached the man, hugged him and dragged him out of the pool.

The man's hair was scattered, revealing an exceptionally handsome face that would not look out of place in any fashion magazine.

Ye Rou had no time to appreciate it. She crossed her hands and pressed them on the man's chest, pressing hard to pry open the man's mouth and was about to perform artificial respiration.

Suddenly, a big hand grabbed Ye Rou's neck and pushed her away.

Ye Rou looked down and saw the man under her open his eyes with a cold gaze.

The man slowly tightened his grip, his strength gradually increasing: "What are you doing?"

Ye Rou was being strangled by the neck and explained with difficulty: "I saw you drowning and saved you."

The man examined her.

Stared at by his cold eyes, Ye Rou was almost scared to tears.

She must have met a murderer!

The hand on her neck kept tightening, and Ye Rou thrashed around with her hands and feet.

She had just come back to life and didn't want to die so soon.

The man suddenly let go and she fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

When she recovered and looked up again, the man was gone.

Ye Rou pinched herself hard and gasped in pain before she was sure that she was still alive.

What a psycho! He suddenly choked her and then suddenly threw her away.

She was afraid of encountering danger again, so she picked up the sickle and ran down the mountain.

——

At the foot of the mountain was a small village made of red bricks and cement, with old-fashioned propaganda slogans written on the walls. She breathed a sigh of relief, thank goodness she hadn't traveled back to ancient times.

"Ye girl?" A strange woman came over and saw that Ye Rou's clothes were soaked. She asked with concern, "Did you fall into the water?"

A woman has a ruddy complexion, a strong breath odor, rough skin and an oily T-zone, which are symptoms of excessive stomach fire.

She pulled Ye Rou and said, "Hurry back and drink a cup of hot water to get rid of the cold. Don't catch a cold."

Ye Rou did not resist and let the woman take her to her original home.

The woman couldn't help but glance at Ye Yatou beside her. The girl was ugly and as thin as a straw.

Now my whole body is wet, and my thick and dense hair is stuck to my scalp, like a mop, which is so ugly.

Ye Rou didn't notice the woman's gaze, she was looking around the village.

The houses are distributed symmetrically, with a gray-white stone paved road in the middle.

The soles of the black cloth shoes are very thin, and stepping on the stones feels like stepping on an acupressure mat, which feels very sore.

The woman was used to walking and didn't feel any pain, so she walked very fast. Ye Rou was in so much pain that tears came out of her eyes, and she trembled three times with every step she took.

The original body's health was too poor, with cold body, weak body, and long-term malnutrition, and needed good care.

Ye Rou followed the woman into an alley. Two girls were standing in the middle of the alley, chatting and smiling.

The woman shouted to one of the girls, "Ye Wen, hurry up, your sister has fallen into the water."

The girl turned her head. She was pretty, fair and tender, dressed in bright and beautiful clothes. Her dark hair was tied into pigtails with two red bows at the end of the pigtails.

A "heartwarming" scene suddenly flashed through Ye Rou's mind.

Young Ye Wen held the original body's hand, looked up and smiled sweetly: "Sister."

Ye Rou was not deceived by the memories of her original body, because Ye Wen standing in front of her had undisguised disgust in his eyes.

Ye Wen said in an annoyed tone: "Ugly people are really the most likely to do bad things."

Others didn't fall into the water when they went up the mountain to chop firewood, but she did. She was ugly and stupid. How could she have such a sister?

Zhao Wan usually ignores her. She finally came to see her once, but was caught by Zhao Wan. It was so embarrassing!

Zhao Wan noticed Ye Wen's embarrassment and took the initiative to say, "Then I'll leave first and come to play with you tomorrow."

"Okay." Ye Wen agreed happily.

As soon as Zhao Wan left, the smile on Ye Wen's face suddenly disappeared. He glared at Ye Rou, opened the door and returned to the yard.

Ye Rouhe thanked the woman who brought her here, "Auntie, thank you."

Hearing her thanks, the woman was stunned for a moment.

Ye Rou didn't notice that he had entered the yard.

The woman stared at Ye Rou's back in a daze. This little girl wasn't as boring as the villagers said.

——

A jujube tree in the yard blocks the sunlight.

There are four rooms in total, with the main house symmetrically distributed and side rooms on both sides.

The door of the left wing was closed.

The door of the right wing was open, and a pair of embroidered cloth shoes were drying at the door, which were very similar to the pair Ye Wen was wearing.

Ye Rou has no memory of her original self and is afraid of being exposed.

She walked towards the right wing slowly, and only entered after seeing that Ye Wen did not show any abnormality.

As soon as I entered, the rich and greasy smell of ointment hit my nose.

The earthen kang occupied two-thirds of the room, with two quilts stacked on it, one thick and fancy, the other thin and worn.

There was a square cabinet on the side, with some trivial things on it.

There was a calendar hanging on it, and it clearly showed April 5, 1977.

She breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't the 1950s.

On the cabinet stood a broken mirror stained with mercury, reflecting a completely unfamiliar face.

Her skin was dark, her pores were large, her T-zone was oily, her dark face was stained with two bright pink blushes, her eyes were small and dull, her nose was collapsed and her nostrils were large, her lips were thin and tilted downwards, and her cheekbones were high and protruding.

She lifted up her clothes, revealing her original body. Her chest was flat and her ribs could be seen clearly. She was really too thin.

It's like putting a layer of skin on a skeleton.

The original body's hair was thick and dense, but dry and frizzy, and the hair quality was very poor.

Only after seeing this face did Ye Rou believe that she had really traveled through time.

Ye Wen walked in and saw this, sneered, and said sarcastically: "If you don't look good, it's useless to take pictures."

After she finished speaking, she picked up the ointment from the cabinet, checked it carefully, and after making sure that Ye Rou had not used it secretly, she closed the lid.

"Hurry up and change your clothes, then go make a fire."

After she finished urging, she looked in the mirror, took out a small comb from her pocket, smoothed her bangs, and after making sure there was nothing wrong, she walked away happily humming a song.

Ye Rou's clothes were soaked. She opened the cabinet lid and saw a stack of quilts inside with two piles of clothes on top.

One pile of clothes was covered in patches, while another pile of clothes was brightly colored and had no patches.

She looked at her original clothes, then picked up the worn but clean clothes.

As the clothes were unfolded, a letter fell to the ground.

Ye Rou thought it was a letter written by the original body to someone else, and wanted to collect more information, so she picked up the letter and read it.

This letter was written by Wang Qian to Gu Huai. The girl named Wang Qian urged Gu Huai to meet at the old place and said that she wanted to give Gu Huai a surprise.

Seeing that it had nothing to do with her original self, Ye Rou stuffed the letter into the cabinet and ignored it.

She took the wet clothes she had changed and looked around for a basin but couldn't find one. She folded the clothes neatly and put them on the cupboard.
