Chapter 3 Getting married tomorrow?
The kitchen was on the side of the main house. She walked in. The kitchen was not big and dark. There was a stove on the left with a big iron pot on it. There was a small stool in front of the stove with dry firewood piled next to it.
She sat on a small stool and turned around to see a square hole in the wall with matches inside.
The match won't light, and even if it does, it goes out quickly.
She had never used matches before and it took her seven or eight tries before she succeeded, leaving half the box empty.
She lit a match and used the flammable hay to burn the firewood. A warm yellow light lit up in the stove. Ye Rou stretched out her hand to warm herself by the fire and felt much warmer.
A skinny old lady came into the kitchen, her knees stiff as she walked.
When Ye Rou saw the old lady, a "heartwarming" scene popped up in her mind again.
The old lady broke a sweet potato into two pieces, gave the largest piece to a little boy, and the smallest piece to Xiao Ye Wen.
Finally, the old lady touched the original body's head and said, "Xiao Rou, be good, you are the elder sister, so give in to your younger siblings."
After watching the scene, Ye Rou: "..."
This old lady is obviously biased!
The old lady used a large ladle to scoop a ladle of water from the water tank at the back and poured it into the pot. She picked up a large kitchen knife and cut half a cabbage, and put the other half back.
The cabbage is chopped very finely and mixed with finely ground corn, and soon a pot of corn porridge is ready.
As the porridge bubbled, voices could be heard in the yard, and the atmosphere became increasingly lively.
The old lady glanced at Ye Rou and saw that she was still stuffing firewood into the stove. She hit the side of the pot with the big spoon in her hand and said, "The porridge is ready, why are you still stuffing firewood?"
Ye Rou stopped. The old lady glanced at the matches at her feet, her eyebrows raised, and she said unhappily, "Matches are free! What a waste of so many!"
This was indeed her fault. Ye Rou simply admitted her mistake and said, "I was wrong."
The old lady choked, stared at Ye Rou for a long time, and said coldly: "I'll let you go today, but if I see you waste again, I'll ask your father to beat you to death. Go get the bowl!"
Ye Rou went to the cupboard to get a bowl.
The old lady complained behind him, "You have no sense at all. You only move when I crack the whip."
Ye Rou walked out of the kitchen with the bowl and stood at the door in a daze. She didn't know where this family was eating.
A plump woman walked out of the main house with a black mole at the corner of her mouth.
Ye Rou looked at her, and countless "warm" scenes instantly emerged in her original mind.
All of them were pictures of the woman in front of him smiling and asking the original body to do various tasks.
Commonly used phrases: "Xiao Rou, thank you for your hard work. Please wash the dishes."
"Xiao Rou, your sister is cold and afraid of the cold. Can you give her this thick quilt?"
"Xiao Rou, you are so sensible."
Ye Rou: “…”
You are so easy to please!
Seeing Ye Rou standing at the door in a daze, the plump woman smiled and said, "Xiao Rou, what are you daydreaming about? Come here."
Ye Rou fell on the plump woman's belly, which was abnormally bulging. She was a pregnant woman.
She followed the plump woman into the main room.
There was a long table in the middle of the main room. Ye Rou put the bowl on the table and noticed that there were two other people in the room.
The middle-aged man who was smoking a pipe was dark and thin, with his mouth corners and eyebrows turned down and a bitter look on his face.
The man took a deep puff of his cigarette and coughed violently. There was sticky phlegm stuck in his throat. He coughed hard a few times and spat the yellow-green phlegm onto the ground.
Scenes of "heartwarming" scenes popped up in Ye Rou's mind again.
The middle-aged man said indifferently: "Your mother has worked hard, you should share her burden."
"Your grandma is old, you should be more sensible."
"Your brother and sister are still young, so please be more considerate of them."
There were so many complaints that Ye Rou didn't know where to start.
There was a young man sitting next to the middle-aged man. When he saw his original form, no warm images popped up in his head.
Ye Rou placed the bowl on the table and was about to sit down when the plump woman called her over. She smiled and said, "You are always trying to be lazy, kid. You haven't even picked up your chopsticks yet!"
As soon as the woman finished speaking, the middle-aged man looked up at Ye Rou with obvious dissatisfaction.
The young man sneered and sat firmly on his butt.
Following the principle of less trouble is worse than more, Ye Rou went to the kitchen to get chopsticks, and was stopped by the old lady when she passed by the stove.
The old lady poured the vegetable porridge into the iron basin, and then gestured to Ye Rou to take it away.
Ye Rou resisted the urge to complain: If I don't come, you won't be happy, but you just can't stand seeing me sitting idle, right?
She picked up the iron basin, walked into the house, put it on the table, and the old lady came in carrying an iron spoon.
Ye Wen came back skipping with a flushed face.
The old lady carried an iron spoon and served porridge to everyone, with the middle-aged man and the young man having the most porridge.
The plump woman touched her belly, and the old lady gave her another spoonful.
Ye Wen and Ye Rou only had one spoonful of porridge.
Ye Rou was dazed holding the bowl. This amount was only enough for her to drink one sip.
The old lady is biased and favors boys over girls. Her buffs are stacked up to the limit!
Ye Wen pushed Ye Rou aside, his voice exceptionally sweet, "Grandma, give me another spoonful!"
The old lady glanced at her and scooped up the last spoonful of porridge.
But unexpectedly, the old lady poured a spoonful of porridge into Ye Rou's bowl.
Ye Wen was fed up and called out in dissatisfaction, "Grandma!"
The old lady glanced at her and said nothing.
The plump woman smiled and said, "Your sister can't go hungry tomorrow, so please let her eat."
Ye Rou keenly sensed the ill intention in the plump woman's tone.
She then said to Ye Wen, "Tomorrow morning, dress up your sister nicely."
Something is wrong. Something bad is definitely waiting for her tomorrow!
The young man sneered: "She is so ugly, no matter how she dresses up, she will never look good."
Zhang Lan was dissatisfied: "Yao Zu."
The young man was reluctant to shut up.
Ye Rou lowered her head. Ye Yaozu should be the original body's younger brother.
The old lady sitting at the head said solemnly, "Eat!"
As soon as the old lady spoke, everyone in the room fell silent.
After the meal, everyone at the table dispersed.
Ye Rou was stopped by the plump woman, "Xiao Rou, don't forget to wash the dishes."
Ye Yaozu and Ye Wen sneered and walked away.
Ye Rou didn't want to cause trouble on her first day, so she went to the kitchen with her dishes.
The kitchen was dark because there was no light. She wanted to light the candle, so she went to the hole in the wall to feel for a match, but found nothing. It seemed that the old lady had put it away for fear that she would waste it.
She had to wash the dishes in the dark. Fortunately, there was no oil or water in the dinner, so she could wash some of them. After washing the dishes, she walked out of the kitchen.
The village was quiet at night, and only the left wing of the Ye family had a light on, revealing a ray of light.
She returned to the right wing in the dark, but Ye Wen was not there.
Ye Rou sat on the kang, and her shoulders, which had been straight, slumped down.
This family, with a mean grandmother, a careless father, a fake-smiling stepmother, and careless brothers and sisters, she will be miserable in the future.
Thinking of the plump woman's malicious smile when she mentioned tomorrow several times, Ye Rou clicked on the system and took out the prediction card from her backpack.
Ye Rou grabbed the card and turned the hands of the clock. The card showed a glaring red. She turned the card over and a text appeared on the back.
Zhang Lan: "Are you really going to marry Ye Rou to that family?"
Ye Hai: "Yaozu's job requires 200 yuan, and our family can't afford it."
Zhang Lan: "That family isn't..."
The text stopped abruptly. Ye Rou looked over and over again, but the card did not show anything more.
She put the cards down and rethought the three sentences.
Zhang Lan should be a plump woman, and Ye Hai is a middle-aged man. He plans to let her get married and use the betrothal money to find a job for Ye Yaozu.
Judging from Zhang Lan's last sentence, the marriage partner they found for her was probably of very poor quality.
Tomorrow might be the day when that family comes to arrange the engagement!
No, she couldn't marry a stranger.
Ye Rou was extremely anxious, trying to think of a way out of the dilemma.
If she fights head-on it's one against five, she will definitely lose, she can't fight head-on.
She glanced at the Hematemesis Pill in the system and her eyes lit up.
