Chapter 38: Become a Disciple

Chapter 38: Become a Disciple

Doctor Liu looked at Old Man Wang, who was snoring in his sleep, and said without hesitation, "Ye girl, do you want to learn Chinese medicine with me?"

"Doctor Liu, I want to learn from you."

The two spoke at the same time, and Dr. Liu smiled.

"Okay!" Doctor Liu had a particularly kind smile on his face.

Ye Rou said excitedly: "Thank you, Doctor Liu."

Doctor Liu smiled and said, "Still calling me Doctor Liu?"

His smile was tolerant and kind. Ye Rou paused for a moment and changed her tone, "Master!"

The crisp call of "Master" made Dr. Liu very happy.

"Good disciple, wait here for a moment."

Doctor Liu trotted out of the clinic.

Ye Rou stared at Old Man Wang to prevent him from turning over and dropping the needle.

Wen Liang walked into the clinic and saw Ye Rou sitting next to an old man with his upper body naked. He frowned subconsciously.

Ye Rou looked at him, and he forced a smile, "Comrade Ye Rou, I'll change the medicine."

Wenliang sat on a chair and stretched out his injured arm.

Ye Rou untied the gauze and saw that the wound had not torn again or turned white. She nodded and said, "It's healing well."

She changed Wenliang's dressing, re-wrapped the gauze, and took out a box of anti-inflammatory medicine: "Three times a day, two pills each time."

After doing all this, Ye Rou sat back down, flipping through the records of Dr. Liu's medical treatment of Jiang Chen over the years.

Wen Liang looked at Ye Rou in silence.

She is so beautiful and gorgeous, like a flower blooming in the desert.

When he arrived in Dahe Village, he was not used to everything. It was backward and poor, the girls were superficial and mediocre, and everything was boring.

Ye Rou's appearance was like a blessing after a long drought for him.

After knowing that she lived with Jiang Chen, he felt disheartened.

After asking around, he found out that she didn't do it voluntarily, she was forced!

The Ye family wanted to sell her to a fool, so Jiang Chen bought her.

She didn't like Jiang Chen, but she had to stay with him because of his tyranny.

In ancient times, Guan Hanqing saved a prostitute, and nowadays, Wenliang saves a beauty!

He wants to save her!

She was waiting for him to save her!

"Comrade Ye Rou."

Ye Rou looked up and saw Wen Liang's tragic expression and determined eyes. After a pause, she said, "Your wound is fine. You won't die. There's no need to be so tragic."

Before she could finish her words, Wen Liang interrupted her, "If love lasts forever, why should we be together day and night? Comrade Ye Rou, wait for me."

"Ah?" Ye Rou was confused.

Wenliang ran away after saying this.

Ye Rou blinked, her head full of questions. What was going on?

"Xiao Rou, let me show you something good."

Doctor Liu came back, his hair and clothes were covered in dust, and he was holding something in his hand.

Ye Rou didn't want to see that strange person, so she moved closer out of curiosity.

Dr. Liu placed the items on the table and opened them bit by bit.

Inside was a row of golden needles! They were of varying lengths and shapes, each one incredibly beautiful.

"Master, what is this?"

Doctor Liu smiled and said, "My ancestors had an imperial physician in the palace. This is the golden needle awarded by the emperor. It has been passed down from generation to generation. Now it is yours."

Ye Rou quickly refused, "I can't accept it."

Doctor Liu said, "How can you learn Chinese medicine without needles? Besides, I'm lending them to you. Once you pass my assessment, the needles will be yours."

Ye Rou swallowed the words of refusal back when they came to her lips.

Doctor Liu rolled up the needle bag again and placed it in Ye Rou's hand: "A doctor's heart is full of compassion. Remember these four words."

Ye Rou held the needle bag and nodded seriously.

——

A slender, pale hand reached out to Ye Rou and tapped the table.

Ye Rou put down the medical book and raised her head. Jiang Chen was standing in front of her with a sullen face and a fierce expression.

"What's wrong?"

Jiang Chen raised the corner of his lips and smiled, but this smile was particularly cold: "What time is it now?"

Ye Rou looked up in surprise and saw the clock on the wall of the clinic. It was half past twelve!

"I'm sorry, I was so engrossed in watching. Are you hungry?"

"I'm starving while waiting for you to cook." Jiang Chen said bluntly, putting an iron box on the table and pushing it in front of Ye Rou.

Ye Rou opened the box and found the wontons she had made that morning. They were a little overcooked and some of them were rotten.

She stared at the lunch box.

Jiang Chen took out the chopsticks and handed them to Ye Rou: "Eat."

Ye Rou took the chopsticks, picked up a wonton and put it in her mouth.

Jiang Chen saw that she had finished eating and was bored, so he picked up the notebook next to her and started reading it.

He took a casual glance and saw the content, and his hand froze.

Ye Rou's handwriting was beautiful, and she remembered all the prescriptions for treating headaches, including medicinal food, acupuncture, and massage points...

He looked at Ye Rou. She lowered her head and ate the wontons in small bites. He could eat two wontons in one bite, but she only ate half of one.

Her cheeks puffed up, and when she noticed his gaze, she tilted her head back and smiled at him.

This smile was like a bullet hitting Jiang Chen's heart.

His whole body felt like it was electrified. His eyes greedily swept across Ye Rou's fair cheeks and soft, slender neck. His teeth suddenly felt itchy. He lowered his head, took out a cigarette from his chest, and was about to light it.

Ye Rou called out to him, "You are not allowed to smoke in the clinic."

Only after she finished speaking did she notice Jiang Chen's expression. He was sitting on a stool, his eyes bloodshot, his long legs stretched out, his white shirt open, and his strong chest heaving violently.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"It's okay." He couldn't smoke, so he put the cigarette in his mouth, stared at Ye Rou, and ground the cigarette butt with his teeth.

"Sister-in-law!" Zhou Liang rushed into the clinic carrying a medicine bag. Seeing Jiang Chen there, he hurriedly greeted him, "Hello, Brother Jiang."

"Sister-in-law, I have gathered all the herbs you mentioned." He ran around the nearby villages and towns for a whole day before he gathered all the herbs.

Ye Rou took the medicine bag and checked it. After making sure everything was in order, she said something to her master, put on her backpack, took Jiang Chen (someone had to follow), and followed Zhou Liang to his house.

Zhou Jiajian was wealthy and kept his yard very clean. There was a pear tree with unripe fruits hanging on it.

"Mom, I brought Ye Rou here!"

Aunt Zhou rushed out when she heard Zhou Liang's voice. Her eyes were red and swollen, dark circles under her eyes, and her hair was messy. She no longer had the capable spirit that Ye Rou had when she first met her.

"Xiao Rou, it's great that you're here." Aunt Zhou rushed over and grabbed Ye Rou's hand. She was so nervous that it hurt a little.

Ye Rou said nothing, trying to calm Aunt Zhou down. "Aunt, don't be anxious. Talk slowly."

Zhou Nian was verbally humiliated in front of her by her blind date. After returning home, she locked herself in the room without saying a word.

Aunt Zhou didn't take it seriously at first, but when Zhou Nian didn't come out for one or two days, she became panicked and tried everything to coax Zhou Nian out but failed.

Zhou Liang and his brother went in and tried to drag his sister out by force, but Zhou Nian held a mirror across her neck, as if to force her and she would die.

Her family was afraid and didn't dare to force her.

I originally thought that she would come out on her own after staying for a few days, but she didn't.

As of today, Zhou Nian has locked himself in the house for five days.

During these five days, Aunt Zhou knelt down and forced her to eat something, but she would vomit it out as soon as she turned around.

Aunt Zhou burst into tears when she said this, her whole body was shaking and she could no longer utter a complete sentence.

Zhou Liang hugged his mother with heartache.

Ye Rou took the medicine bag from Zhou Liang and divided it into three parts according to the proportion. "Auntie, don't cry. Cook these herbs. I'll go in and take a look."

Aunt Zhou knew that Ye Rou was helping out at the clinic, and she believed her words even more. She wiped away her tears, pushed her son away, picked up the medicine bag and rushed into the kitchen.

Ye Rou didn't let Jiang Chen and Zhou Liang follow her. She walked into the house alone with her bag on her back.
