Chapter 63 Dragon Girl: Those who obey me prosper, those who oppose me perish.
Upon hearing the goddess's words, Chen Changhai's heart trembled.
He defended himself, saying, "We just want to climb the ladder, what's wrong with that? Didn't you have our teacher teach us that kings and nobles aren't born with a special destiny?"
The others also protested, "You are a goddess, we are not like you."
"Why can those people in the capital live a life of plenty, while we almost starve to death!"
"We're just doing it for ourselves, what's wrong with that?"
"Goddess, please grant our request!"
Jiang Feng stared at He Qinglan, his expression turning fierce. "Goddess, we are not only doing this for ourselves, but also for the people of Anling."
"Rest assured, even after we surrender to Maozhou, you will still be a goddess!"
"Governor Sun, who desires the food you bestow, will surely respect you. The people of Maozhou and Liangzhou will also be grateful for your benevolence and, like the people of Anling County, will believe in you!"
Qiu Tang was enraged, "You ungrateful wretches! The goddess saved everyone's lives, and yet you come to coerce her! You will be punished! You..."
He Qinglan reached out and stopped her.
Qiu Tang looked up, her expression shifting from fury to astonishment, "Goddess..."
He Qinglan raised her left hand, and Qiu Tang, who was standing behind her, flew straight up into the night sky and was caught by a drifting cloud.
Qiu Tang skillfully reached out and grabbed the cloud, then peered down.
The goddess stood up and jumped off the roof, landing lightly in front of Chen Changhai and the others who were looking on in shock.
She lifted her foot and walked forward, one step, two steps, three steps.
Qiu Tang, who was perched on the cloud, was unaware of the danger, but Chen Changhai and the others could smell the water.
The closer the goddess got, the stronger the scent became.
Chen Changhai subconsciously took a breath; it wasn't rainwater, nor river water, it was a little salty…
Is it just my imagination?
Jiang Feng, who was standing next to him, let out a scream. Chen Changhai looked up and was met with a huge wave that swept over them, engulfing everyone present.
Qiu Tang stared wide-eyed as she watched the water ripple outwards beneath the goddess's feet.
Then, centered on the Goddess's Palace, a large blue flood surged out from behind the Goddess and rushed towards the entire Anling County city.
Qiu Tang: "!!!"
Members of the city guard team are running towards the Goddess's Palace.
Farmers and workers attending night school.
Administrative staff and students who are working, reading, or doing homework.
Members of the publicity department are discussing precautions.
Doctors and apprentices from the medical department are preparing medicinal materials.
...
Everyone was instantly swallowed up by the salty water.
Chen Changhai felt suffocated.
Water entered through his nose and mouth, like an invisible chain choking his throat.
He struggled to surface, but the water was too deep, and no matter how hard he swam, he could not reach the surface.
His body grew heavier and heavier, sinking towards the bottom of the blue water.
But his eyes were not closed.
He looked up and saw a figure standing on the distant water.
Extremely long, extremely long silver hair.
He wore a simple blue robe with silver water patterns embroidered on the collar.
She had a pair of small dragon horns on her forehead.
Beneath the dragon's horns, a pair of deep blue eyes resembled the deepest part of the ocean.
seawater……
Yes, this is seawater.
Chen Changhai's heart skipped a beat.
goddess……
Help...help me...
The figure glanced at him.
Like the surrounding seawater, it was deep, cold, and chilling.
The people of Anling County were inexplicably flooded. They swallowed mouthfuls of salty water, which they couldn't spit out and found extremely uncomfortable.
Those who can swim swim to higher ground, while those who can't swim struggle in the water.
But not long after, the floodwaters suddenly disappeared.
They were still in the same place they had just been.
Only the wet clothes and hair proved that everything that had just happened was real.
The crowd was terrified and confused.
Someone immediately looked at the books on the table.
Someone quickly went to check the blankets on the bed and the clothes in the closet.
Some people went to check the porridge cooking in the pot.
...
They were shocked to discover that they were the only ones who got wet!
Whether it's books, clothes, blankets, fabrics, food, wood, tools, ...
All the items and objects were dry, as if they had never been wet at all.
Even the fire in the stove hadn't gone out.
The people: "..."
What happened?
Some people have drawn parallels to the goddess. Who else but the goddess possesses such divine skills?
Realizing something was wrong, they rushed out of the house and ran towards the Goddess's Palace.
The Goddess's Palace.
Chen Changhai, Jiang Feng, and the others lay on the ground, breathing in the fresh air in large gulps.
Seawater dripped from their hair and clothes and onto the ground.
They trembled, and out of the corner of their eyes they caught sight of the goddess, and they looked up in terror.
He Qinglan was still standing in front of them, her yellow and red dress and her black hair styled in a single bun were completely dry.
She looked down at them from her high position, her eyes devoid of any warmth.
Someone cried out in fear, "Goddess, I was wrong, please forgive me!"
His cries prompted the others to prostrate themselves and beg, "Goddess, please spare me! I was tempted by greed and did something I'm ashamed of. I'll never do it again. Please spare my life!"
"I was wrong, I was wrong. Please forgive me, considering that I have been quite diligent in the past."
"I have parents to support and young children to raise. Please have mercy on me."
They finally felt afraid.
In other words, because the goddess always appeared kind, generous, and compassionate, willing to bestow blessings upon everyone, they assumed that even if they betrayed her, she wouldn't punish them too harshly.
Unexpectedly, the goddess actually...
But even though the goddess flooded them, she didn't kill them. Doesn't this mean...?
Will the goddess let them go?
More and more people were kowtowing repeatedly.
He Qinglan gave a cold smile.
She said, "Those who obey me will prosper, and those who oppose me will perish. Those who betray me will, of course, pay the price."
"However, considering you were the first chickens to be used as a warning to others, I will spare your lives."
Chen Changhai's breath hitched: A chicken used as a warning to others?
What does that mean?
Could it be...?
Before he could think it through, his body floated up and stopped above everyone's heads.
Chen Changhai looked surprised.
He suddenly had a bad feeling, and his heart was pounding.
"goddess……"
Chen Changhai's face turned deathly pale. "Please spare me! I know I was wrong. I will swear to be loyal to you to the death from now on!"
The others looked up at Chen Changhai in surprise and fear, then turned to look at He Qinglan.
Is the goddess going to... take action against them?
He Qinglan raised her hand, and with a flick of her slender fingers, more than two hundred equally soaking wet traitors outside the Goddess's Mansion flew in and crashed to the ground, their screams echoing continuously.
Hundreds of people gathered in the open space inside the Goddess's Palace, creating a scene of people piled on top of each other.
An even louder scream came from above them.
Everyone trembled in fright and looked up.
Qiu Tang, who was lying on the cloud, opened her eyes wide and showed a look of horror.
She watched as four streams of transparent water appeared out of thin air, encircling Chen Changhai's thighs and calves respectively.
The water flowed tighter and tighter, and then she heard the sound of bones breaking.
Qiu Tang: "..." It hurts so much.
Chen Changhai screamed and fell to the ground.
Everyone present was so frightened that their faces changed drastically.
They couldn't believe that the goddess would break Chen Changhai's leg.
The next moment, Jiang Feng flew into the air.
He struggled desperately, flailing his arms in the air, but to no avail. How could a mortal defy a god?
The same four streams of water engulfed his arms, instantly breaking six bones.
Others: "..."
They were so frightened that they ran in all directions; some ran towards the gate, and some ran towards the courtyard wall.
However, in an instant, a transparent curtain of water enveloped the entire Goddess's Palace, repelling them.
The traitors were then truly frightened.
Unable to escape, they could only kneel on the ground, desperately kowtowing and begging the goddess to spare them.
He Qinglan looked down at them and sighed softly.
"You don't really know you're wrong; you just can't beat me."
"Humans."
The goddess's eyes were icy cold as she formed hand seals, and a blue radiance spread out from her.
Several streams of water appeared in the air.
The city guards, soaking wet, had just escaped from the sea and were rushing towards the Goddess's Palace, led by their leaders Zhang Shouliang and Feng Yao.
As soon as they arrived at the entrance of the Goddess's Palace, they saw the guards who had been killed and injured. Feng Yao immediately ordered his men to go forward and check on them.
Zhang Shouliang then led his men to push open the gate.
The door didn't open.
Screams, louder and louder, echoed from inside the mansion.
Zhang Shouliang became anxious and asked the injured guard, "What happened? Where is the goddess? Is the goddess injured?"
A guard with a knife wound to his back was covered in cold sweat. "Someone has betrayed us and wants to kidnap the goddess. They're inside, and the goddess is inside too."
"What?!" The city guards were shocked.
Feng Yao was extremely anxious, his concern clouding his judgment. "Is the goddess inside? Did those bastards hurt her...?"
Zhang Shouliang thought that they had just been flooded, but no one was hurt. This was obviously the work of the goddess. She was betrayed and was angry, so she wanted to scare them.
In addition, there were constant screams coming from inside.
I suppose the goddess should be alright.
He breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhang Shouliang raised his hand and pounded on the door, shouting loudly as he did so, "Goddess, Goddess, I am Zhang Shouliang, the captain of the first squad of the city guard! Are you alright? Can you open the door and let us in?"
With a creak, the door opened.
Zhang Shouliang immediately led his men and rushed in.
Upon entering, one sees people with broken arms and legs lying on the ground, screaming in pain.
The goddess stood on the rooftop, with Qiu Tang standing behind her, staring expressionlessly at the people on the ground.
Zhang Shouliang and the others knelt down, saying, "Greetings, Goddess! We are late and have startled you. Please punish us!"
He Qinglan said, "Get up."
Zhang Shouliang immediately asked with concern, "Goddess, are you injured?"
He Qinglan shook her head. "It's nothing. You've come at the right time. Get these people out of here."
She glanced coldly at the people scattered on the ground and said, "Don't worry, you won't die."
He may be spared the death penalty, but he cannot escape punishment.

Author's note: 1. This is probably for the sake of making dumplings with vinegar.
However, my writing skills are limited, and these two chapters don't capture the feeling I wanted (actually, it's also because I'm not smart enough to write about political intrigue QAQ).
Thank you for your understanding. (bowing)
2. He Qinglan's true form is a dragon girl.
When I was conceiving the plot for this book, I stumbled upon "Yao Ling, Oh Yao Ling," which features a dream-fulfilling book whose protagonist is the Dragon King. His magical power surpasses that of the female lead, Yao Lan, but he is a true protector of love. After the turmoil subsides, he sends the male lead's newlywed parents and stepmother a huge amount of seafood.
I thought it was pretty cool, so I designed Xiao He's true form as a dragon girl, a dragon girl from a mythological world.
