Chapter 119 "The Elf King's Best Employee..."

Chapter 119 "The Elf King's Best Employee..."

Stepping out of the temple, the fiery sunset clouds were breathtaking, making the already magnificent garden even more beautiful. A group of maids—no, female slaves—were tending the soil and pruning the flowers in the garden. They wore different clothes than ordinary maids; simple cotton and linen dresses draped loosely over their bodies, with slanted V-necklines revealing their slender collarbones.

The female slave with honey-colored skin, dark green eyes, and long dark green hair was using a flower shovel to shovel some loose soil.

I pretended not to see her, and she seemed not to see me either.

I no longer want to easily lend a helping hand to others, nor do I want to be someone else's stepping stone.

That evening, the Queen invited me and several other mistresses to dinner. Hoping to find out more information, I accepted.

Dinner was held in the Queen's courtyard, where exquisite glass lanterns were placed every few steps, illuminating the small courtyard warmly and brightly. The beautiful table was laden with tempting food, but the Queen was only interested in the wine. She raised her glass to me and several of her mistresses, saying, "My health is not good, so the important task of bearing an heir is entrusted to you."

The mistresses laughed shyly, and I wanted to laugh, but I couldn't.

“I don’t think you should take contraceptives,” the Queen suddenly said to me seriously. “Stop it.”

I looked completely innocent and harmless. "I think the king's first child should be born to the queen. That would be the true eldest son, and it would avoid a lot of unnecessary disputes."

The mistresses remained silent. The Queen frowned. "This is not something you need to worry about. Leave this to me and the King."

I was about to speak when I was interrupted by a servant's loud shout, "His Majesty has arrived!"

The Elf King, clad in a magnificent snow-white robe inlaid with pearls, gracefully entered and sat down with the Queen with a smile. "On such a night, I shouldn't be late. I apologize."

The mistresses smiled sweetly, "Your Majesty, what are you saying?"

"We've only been here a little while."

The Elf King's alluring, fair fingers gripped the wine glass, his long, golden nails reflecting the shards of palace lantern light, exuding an eerie mystery.

"What are you talking about?" he asked with a slight smile.

"Have a child," the Queen shrugged. "But Lady Lana doesn't seem to want to."

“Maybe you’ll change your mind later,” he said with a smile.

Just as I was about to speak, a shrill scream suddenly rang out, followed by my familiar howls and roars. I stood up abruptly, and the queen and her mistresses' expressions changed drastically.

The next second, dozens of guards rushed over in panic, "Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! They suddenly appeared..."

Before he could finish speaking, a large group of zombies, bleeding from all seven orifices and stinking, charged over with howls. A sharp whistle blew, and the guard leader hurriedly blew his whistle for help, but before he could finish blowing it, his head was viciously bitten off by a zombie, and blood gushed out.

I jumped up from my chair in shock. The queen and her mistresses screamed and rushed behind the Elf King, trembling. The Elf King's longsword was sharp and swift as lightning, cutting down several zombies, but more swarmed forward. The Elf King was overwhelmed and couldn't attend to me.

I played hide-and-seek with a few zombies. I had experience dealing with zombies. I dodged and weaved, jumping onto the dining table and darting into the bushes. The zombies chased after me relentlessly, but I knew their eyesight was poor and their sense of smell was keen, so I threw all the food in a certain direction. A few of the fooled zombies chased after them, but a few others still followed me, though their fighting power was noticeably reduced.

I ran incredibly fast, almost out of the garden, when a guard, being chased by dozens of zombies, came face to face with me. Just as I was about to dodge him, the guard suddenly raised his longsword and slashed fiercely at my neck. If I hadn't stumbled just in time, his entire head would probably have been chopped off.

But my neck was still slashed open, and bright red blood gushed out like a fountain.

With a bang, the guard was knocked to the ground by the zombies. The remaining zombies all rushed towards me, who was covered in blood. At the critical moment, a girl with long dark green hair rushed over with an iron shovel. She was extremely strong and shoveled away more than a dozen zombies at the same time. After pulling me out of the encirclement, she pressed her hand hard against the bleeding wound on my neck.

The whistle blew again, and more guards rushed over, along with more zombies. We hid in a thicket of grass.

As blood continued to spill from my neck, the stench grew stronger. A dozen zombies followed the scent and came closer. Our breathing became increasingly rapid. When the zombies finally noticed us and rushed towards us, a series of sword techniques suddenly flashed into my mind. These were the sword techniques I used to slaughter zombies when I possessed Bernot.

I picked up a sword from one of the guards on the ground and was about to rush out when the girl with long, dark green hair quickly used strips of her skirt to tie the wound on my neck.

The moment the zombies pounced, I raised my longsword and slashed, hacking and slashing with all my might. Two zombies were cut down, and more howled as they charged at me. Following the sword techniques in my mind, I spun left and right at lightning speed, taking down several more. When dozens of zombies surrounded me from all sides, I remained focused and slashed fiercely with my sword. Suddenly, a brilliant blue light emanated from the tip of my sword, striking the oncoming zombie. With a bang, the zombie exploded into pieces.

I swept my sword across again, blue light bursting forth as I charged towards the zombies in all directions. Several more explosions followed, and fragments of flesh and blood flew everywhere. Almost all the zombies that were attacking me were blown up, and the remaining few had their heads chopped off by the arriving guards.

I collapsed to the ground, the tattered cloth around my neck had come loose, and blood gushed out again. Exhausted, I passed out...

——

Hordes of zombies swept through the entire palace.

Countless zombies rushed into every corner of the palace, grabbing and biting anyone they saw. Blood flowed like a river throughout the palace, and groups of people fell, only to be turned into zombies in droves. In this way, the number of zombies increased and increased, almost covering the entire palace.

Some zombies ate heads, some only bit people, and some chased after living people. The mournful howls, screams, and cries filled the air. Just as the entire palace was about to be destroyed, a group of guards rode flying horses into the sky and fired rockets at the zombie horde below.

The burning zombies let out terrifying howls. More and more rockets were launched, and more and more zombies were engulfed in flames. Countless valuable carpets, decorations, tables, chairs, and benches were also set ablaze. Flames soared into the sky, and the entire palace seemed to be ablaze, turning into a burning hell...

As soon as I opened my eyes, I sat up immediately, and a sharp pain shot through my neck, which was wrapped in gauze.

I covered my neck and grimaced.

I must have been rescued by the arriving guards to be able to lie safely in the room.

The faint howls of zombies could be heard.

"Open the window!" The room was empty, but I knew that as soon as I spoke, someone would come in.

Sure enough, a maid hurriedly pushed open the door and opened the floor-to-ceiling glass window. A strong smell of smoke and rottenness, mixed with the clear howling of zombies, came through.

"How many zombies are there?" I asked, clutching my neck wound.

"I don't know," the maid replied tremblingly, "but there are more and more of them."

I held onto the bedpost, enduring the pain, and got out of bed. "Quick, help me over there."

"Are you going to the zombies?" the maid asked in surprise.

"No, your cesspool. And bring me that handsome guy who's been keeping your king in the dungeon too."

Before long, supported by two maids, I stood before a huge latrine. There had been a large lid over the latrine, which I ordered to be removed.

A huge, nauseating stench hit them, and the guards and maids covered their mouths and noses and retreated.

Even the muscular guy with abs, who had just been dragged out of the dungeon and was half-dead and lying on the ground, frowned and covered his nose.

Only I, by wearing a protective mask beforehand, was able to stand calmly in place.

"Empty the latrine," I commanded.

The guard hesitated; this was a huge undertaking. But then the Elf King's voice came from a distance, "Do as she says."

The Elf King, completely covered and masked, appeared sometime not far from the latrine.

Seeing how he was also reluctant to go near because of the stench, I almost laughed, but I held it in.

The cesspool was quickly emptied of most of its contents. During the process, a large swarm of tiny black ants crawled along the pit walls. I approached the Elf King and said, "We can investigate where these ants came from; they promote the growth of a type of green grass at the bottom of the pit."

"Where did this green grass come from?" The Elf King approached me, trying to touch the wound on my neck, but I skillfully avoided him.

"You'll see in a minute," I said.

When the cesspool was almost empty, dense green grass began to appear. Even though it was covered by so much excrement, it was still a bright, eerie green, clearly not a good thing.

“If you refuse to reveal the leader of the slave revolt,” I said coldly to the handsome man lying half-reclined on the ground, “I’ll throw you into the cesspool and turn you into a zombie.”

As I was speaking, I had a guard jump into the cesspool. The moment the guard's feet touched the green grass, it seemed to come alive, quickly wrapping around his feet and even climbing up them. Everyone was stunned.

When the green grass wrapped around his chest, the guard's expression suddenly changed, becoming stiff and unnatural. His eyes lost their light, and the next second, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his skin turned bluish-white. "Howl! Roar!" he howled as he turned into a zombie, trying to climb into the latrine. The dense green grass that had wrapped around his body quickly retreated back into the latrine.

The crowd gasped in surprise.

"So, do you want to give it a try?" I asked the handsome guy.

After leaving the dungeon, I looked up some information in the library. The three islands had a strange custom: you could die without a complete body, missing limbs, but you had to be a true island resident to have a grave built and a monument erected after your death. Otherwise, your body would be left to rot in the wilderness. Of course, you might not care about being left to rot in the wilderness, but your family and relatives would also be left to rot in the wilderness, and you would all die without a burial place.

This custom originated from the invasion of the mainland by alien races many years ago. Orcs and giants intermarried with the island residents, and many of their offspring had the appearance of orcs or giants, which aroused the dissatisfaction of the local residents. In order to prevent such intermarriage, this regulation was formulated.

Now, I'm betting that this handsome guy still has family in this world, and that he wouldn't dare or want to leave his loved ones to rot in the wilderness.

Sure enough, the handsome guy's expression changed...

I not only asked the riot leader for his name, but also told the Elf King how to restore zombies to human form.

"Now that I've done a great service, can you give me a job?" Back in my room, I looked eagerly at the Elf King. "I've passed your test, haven't I?"

The roars of zombies continued to echo outside the window, but the Elf King simply smiled and said, "It's approved, but I still don't want to give it to you."

"Why?" I was very angry.

"Because the best job by the Elf King's side is to be his woman." The Elf King's golden eyes shone brightly.

I was furious and slapped him without thinking. The Elf King probably didn't expect to take the slap.

With a loud slap, a red handprint appeared on his fair face.

The air suddenly became tense. He covered his face and stared coldly at me. I, with an expression of utter indifference, also glared coldly at him.

“Since you love your job so much,” his voice was even colder than his expression, “then go clean the latrines. I heard that’s what you used to do.”
