Chapter 126 Chapter 126 An Invasive Masculine Aura.

Others thought he was joking; who would keep a mouse as a pet? But when he actually sent someone to find a tiny golden cage and put the black mouse inside, everyone realized he was telling the truth.

This legendary mixed-race prince, with his peculiar and eccentric personality, is truly strange.

When I was locked in the golden cage, I was stunned for a long time.

At first I thought he recognized me, but then I thought it was impossible. How could he possibly recognize me?

Did he receive advance notice and know I'd turned into a rat? But that's impossible. Would someone as shrewd as Di Yaruo tell him my whereabouts? She's still waiting for me to complete my mission.

I just assumed that Bernard had gone mad for a moment and was so bored with life that he kept a mouse as a pet.

How come I never noticed he had this hobby before?

I tried desperately to recall, but I couldn't remember him ever liking small animals.

It's probably newly developed.

My originally tense life as a refugee turned boring.

I sleep in my cage until I naturally wake up every day. Food and water are already prepared, and all I have to do is eat. I'm fed roasted sausages and bread slices. Perhaps considering that mice need to gnaw on their teeth, the bread is roasted until it's golden brown and slightly hard.

I have a thick velvet mat in the place where I sleep, so I don't have to worry about the effects of the bad freezing rain on me.

Actually, it's not cold even without a fleece lining. My golden cage, which keeps me in it, has always been in Bernard's bedroom, where it's warm as spring; how could I possibly feel cold?

Bernard was not in his bedroom most of the time; he only came back at night to sleep.

He would tease me in front of the golden cage for a while before going to sleep.

I usually ignore him, shrink into a corner, and think to myself, "This guy is really weird. I haven't seen him for years, and his hobbies have become so perverted."

Before leaving the bedroom, he would ask someone to close all the doors and windows and instruct others not to let the mice get out.

“There are too many cats here,” he said, frowning as he looked at me. “If you try to run away, you’ll be asking for trouble.”

I pretended to be asleep and didn't hear anything.

After several days of freezing rain, the sun finally came out, and the long-awaited sunlight shone in through the window. In the afternoon, he suddenly appeared, picked me up along with the golden cage, and said, "You've been cooped up in the room for so long, you're almost moldy. I'll take you out for a walk."

He held the golden cage in his arms, smiling broadly, "I've been very busy these past few days and haven't had time to spend with you. You won't blame me, will you?"

I was startled and almost thought he recognized me or knew who I was, but looking into his eyes, he didn't see me as a "person" but rather as a pet.

This person is really strange! I exclaimed again.

Stepping into the spacious garden, the sunlight streamed in, and the air after the rain was so fresh and invigorating that I almost wanted to fall asleep.

"Want to sleep?" He suddenly reached out and stroked my fur with his finger. "You're not allowed to sleep. You usually sleep so much, but now you have to stay with me."

I was annoyed by him, but I couldn't speak, so I could only pretend I didn't understand and keep my eyes closed.

"Sweetie, open your eyes and look over there. Aren't those crabapple blossoms beautiful? Let me tell you, the crabapple blossoms in the Eastern Territory are even more beautiful," he coaxed me like a child, trying to get me to open my eyes. "How about I take you back to the Eastern Territory to see it?"

I opened my eyes at that moment, but not for him, but because I heard a very faint meow, and I opened my eyes alertly.

Sure enough, a long-haired white cat was faintly visible in the rose bushes not far away. Damn it, it's like a persistent ghost; why is that fierce white cat here again?

I'm currently in Bernard's arms, cage and all, so it can't rush over yet and can only watch me from afar.

I was feeling a little uneasy, and Bernard seemed to sense it, patting me a few times in a comforting manner. "What's wrong?"

"Your Highness Bernard." A charming voice came from ahead, and a beautiful woman with long hair, dressed in a light gold dress and adorned with jewels, walked gracefully towards them, surrounded by several maids.

Her eyes seemed to have hooks, and every smile and frown of hers could bewitch a person's soul.

She smiled sweetly, "I came out to look for my cat, but I didn't expect to find you here."

“What a coincidence.” Bernard smiled, a smile that was incredibly captivating.

Under the sunlight, Bernard's alluring features were striking, with crystal-clear blue eyes, sexy red lips, and a delicate, elegant chin. Coupled with her long, silver hair that shimmered in the sunlight, she looked like a stunningly beautiful goddess.

A look of fascination appeared in the beautiful woman's eyes. "I like this kind of coincidence, and I especially like it when my cat runs into the garden at this time."

The two maids stepped back slightly to avoid any awkwardness, while the beautiful woman stepped forward and leaned close to him. "I invited you to a small gathering a few nights ago, why didn't you come?"

“King Midian is not here now, which seems inappropriate.” Bernard smiled, the beautiful woman deliberately rubbing her chest against his arm, pressing close together. “I know the prince has seen countless beauties, so he certainly wouldn’t be interested in me.”

“Madam is joking,” Bernard said, accepting the offer without flinching. “Madam is the most beautiful woman in the Western Palace, the apple of King Midan’s eye. Who would look down on her?”

The beautiful woman pressed her chest even closer, her small hands restlessly reaching under Bernard's waist, sliding down his robes as if trying to grasp his masculine symbol.

I was stunned, staring without blinking. Such a daring woman! No wonder she captivated King Midan. Only a woman this beautiful, alluring, and wild could bewitch a king.

Just as her hand was about to grasp his, Bernard grabbed her wrist. The force was probably not light, and she let out a cry of pain, but the cry had a somewhat ambiguous quality, almost like a moan during sex.

She nestled into his arms and said sweetly, "Prince, you've hurt me!"

I was engrossed in watching, completely unaware that the long-haired white cat had quietly approached. It was extremely interested in me, this mouse, and its eyes lit up with green whenever it saw me again.

Just as the beautiful woman hugged the prince and tried to kiss him, the white cat meowed and pounced. I was terrified and jumped up, crashing into the cage bars, trying to escape immediately. But the cage didn't break open; instead, it fell from Bernard's arms to the ground. The white cat pounced aggressively, but faster than it was Bernard's heavy kick. "Meow—" the white cat let out a miserable cry as its body was kicked through the air, arcing in the air before crashing heavily to the ground and remaining motionless.

Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events. The beautiful woman's face turned deathly pale as she stared incredulously at Bernard—he had actually kicked her cat to death over a mouse.

Bernard, however, calmly picked up the golden cage that had fallen to the ground, carefully checked that the black mouse was unharmed, and then said slowly, "I will compensate you tenfold for your white cat."

After saying that, he turned and left with me without looking back.

From that day on, he assigned a maid and a servant to look after me; one was only responsible for watching out for cats nearby, and the other for my food and lodging. It is said that many people said Prince Bernard had gone mad, caring so much about a mouse, that he must be incredibly bored.

“He should be very busy. He came for the border war between the East and the North, hoping that the West will participate in the war.”

The maid led me to the garden to bask in the sun, where I overheard two noblewomen gossiping.

"How could someone so busy fight with a mouse and a cat?" another noblewoman laughed. "I heard he caught all the cats in his palace."

The two noble ladies suddenly saw me in the cage. "Is this it? Let's see what it looks like. Why does the prince like it so much?"

They approached the cage and examined it closely. "It looks just like any other rat, nothing special."

"Exactly, I thought it was a hamster or something similar."

As they drew closer, the maid hurriedly picked up the cage, pretending she was going to give the rats a bath, and quickly left.

Giving a mouse a bath? The two ladies stared at each other in disbelief.

In the stillness of midnight, Bernard returned on time. The candlelight in the bedroom was dim, and I was awakened by the sound of him pushing open the door. He squatted in front of my golden cage, extending his long, bony fingers, trying to tease me, but I recoiled and avoided him.

“Don’t even think about avoiding me anymore,” he said, still managing to touch my mouse fur. “I’m so good to you, yet you still ignore me.”

“Tell me what you want to eat? What you want to play?” he said. “As long as you jump on these foods or items, I will understand what you want.”

“I often think about the past, and a certain person appears in my dreams. But that heartless person will never understand.”

"Never mind, let's not talk about it anymore." He picked up the strawberries on the table. "Want some? These were transported from the Southern Border. They're not available in the Western Border this season, and they're very expensive."

Of course I won't eat it.

He laughed out loud, "You've got a really sharp tongue. I really don't know how you survived out there."

I remained huddled in the corner, pretending not to understand anything.

“I’m going back to the East in a couple of days,” he said, pulling out a long, elastic rope. “You’ll come back with me.”

I started to panic. The secret room thing was still nowhere in sight, and I couldn't leave. But what panicked me even more was that he suddenly tied a rope around my neck. "Don't move. I want to let you out of the cage, but I'm afraid you'll escape, so I can only tie you up like this for now."

After tying the rope, he placed me in his palm and said, "I'll take you to the balcony for some fresh air."

The autumn nights in the West were quite chilly, especially after a freezing rain, but his warm palms made me feel less cold as they covered my fur.

The balcony was quiet, especially in the stillness of midnight. My heart suddenly calmed down, for reasons I didn't know. There was no moonlight tonight, only the flickering firelight in the garden below.

He gazed at me silently, and I suddenly remembered that years ago, we entered each other's illusions and saw each other's growth stories.

My unrequited love, his feelings, and the images of memories all rushed back to me.

Pure emotions are only so precious before we have fully entered adulthood. As we grow up, lust, materialism, and the desire for power will overshadow everything else.

Everything seems like it happened yesterday, but yesterday can never be relived.

Letting the past be the past is perhaps the best choice.

He suddenly hugged me tightly with his burning hands. "Are you cold?" he asked, placing me close to his red lips and giving me a passionate kiss. "I believe you're not cold now."

An intrusive masculine aura, tinged with sensual ambiguity.

I stared at him in shock, as if I understood something.

If I didn't know he knew who I was, I'd be incredibly oblivious.
