Chapter 20 The Chief Mistress's gaze grew even colder, revealing a...

The sword was heavy, and I lost my grip, dropping it to the ground with a thud.

My gaze was even colder, and it even gave off a look as if I were looking at an idiot.

I hurriedly picked it up.

After a cold laugh, "I" began to mutter a string of strange characters. I panicked a little, afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up, but unexpectedly, after "I" uttered half a sentence, it suddenly overlapped with a memory somewhere in my brain, and I immediately and accurately repeated it.

What happened next was even more amazing. As I murmured a few words, the longsword in my hand began to glow. The golden light spread outward little by little, and I could hardly open my eyes. The golden light grew stronger and stronger, shining brightly, and the entire halo enveloped our whole bodies.

"Aim, attack." I suddenly grabbed the back of my hand, pointing the sword tip in the direction I had just pointed at the person riding the black bird. A golden light shot out like a meteor, and with a loud bang, the person on the bird's back was shot down before even a scream could be heard. He fell from the sky and was swarmed by the zombies, torn to pieces...

I was terrified and stood frozen in place, sword in hand.

I then manipulated my sword, pointing it in several directions. Several golden meteors rushed towards the people riding on black birds. They were all shot down with screams, and my wrist was almost broken by the force, the pain almost bringing tears to my eyes.

The situation reversed. Without the whistle, the out-of-control bats began to fly erratically, occasionally dropping explosive charges that tore apart the limbs of zombies, intensifying the stench of decay and blood. Countless zombies leaped up to try and catch the bats, but each time they missed, their roars growing louder. The once mighty zombie army suffered countless casualties, and the scene descended into utter chaos…

I stopped whispering, and I stopped too.

"I" coldly snatched the sword, staring at me with eyes devoid of any emotion. "How did you manage to switch bodies with me?"

"I...I don't know." I suddenly became nervous and started to stammer.

"I" stared at me, my eyes even colder than before, as if they had been immersed in a thousand-year-old ice pool.

"How...how did you get here?" I stammered again.

Although I haven't been here long, I know that there's a clear hierarchy here, and it's very difficult for a low-ranking maid to "get close" to the lord. Judging from his clothes, he was clearly dressed as a low-ranking maid.

He stared at me coldly without saying a word. Just when I thought he wouldn't answer me, he said coldly, "With so many zombies, things are already in complete chaos. Who would care where a lowly maid has gone?"

It turns out that he sneaked into the Black Tower during the chaos, just to see who the current lord was and who had tricked him.

We suddenly fell silent. I felt incredibly scared.

Countless zombies were still desperately fighting the bats in the square. Unfortunately, the bats carried deadly explosives, which could detonate in multiples at once.

Seeing this made me very excited. At this rate, the bats will soon be able to blow up all the zombies, right?

But before long, several more people riding black birds appeared in the distance. I had a bad feeling. The strange whistle sounded again. It was a new instruction. The bat army almost simultaneously stopped dropping explosive packs, turned around in a whoosh, and disappeared without a trace in no time.

As dawn broke, the few hundred surviving zombies continued their siege of the castle. Inside the tower, outside the golden fence, the zombies were still roaring, and the situation remained dire.

At this moment, "I" closed my eyes slightly and began to mutter something again.

I was stunned at first, but when "I" suddenly opened my eyes and stared at me, I hurriedly followed along with him and read.

A strange thing happened again. As soon as I followed his thoughts for a couple of seconds, the incantation automatically entered my mind, and I could recite it silently on my own without even having to listen to what he was saying.

My feet left the ground and I suddenly flew up, which startled me so much that I stopped chanting and then fell back to the ground with a thud, cutting my chin.

"What do you want to do?" I cried out.

"There are many zombies inside the tower. You want to get out of the tower?" "I" looked at me with the same look I was looking at an idiot again. "You can only fly out of the tower." After saying that, it started to mutter again, and I hurriedly muttered along with it.

My feet left the ground again, and I slowly rose higher and higher. I tried to close my eyes, but somehow I just couldn't.

At that moment, "I," who was also flying up, suddenly grabbed my hand and flew out of the tower window with me. It was almost dozens of stories high. I was so scared that I almost stopped chanting, but I heard "my" icy voice in my ear, "Keep chanting, or you will fall to your death."

My tears streamed down my face. I have a fear of heights, and now I'm suffering like this, but all I can do is keep reading.

Our whispered voices overlapped once again.

"I" held my hand face to face, just like when I led the stuttering girl down from the tower.

But we didn't look at each other. "I" kept my eyes closed, while I glanced down at the tower and then hurriedly closed my eyes again.

There were too many zombies inside the tower, so the only option was to fly out.

The tower was very tall, but the descent was very slow.

The roars of zombies below the tower kept coming. I wanted to ask "me," who had kept my eyes closed, what to do after landing, but I couldn't bring myself to speak.

My demeanor is too aloof. When they look at me, it's either like they're looking at an idiot or a nobody. They have such an air of superiority that I don't dare to speak.

We finally landed safely on the ground, and all the zombies swarmed around us, but the blue light blocked their attacks.

My breathing became rapid, and I watched as the blue light gradually weakened. Chanting the incantation was useless, and the light continued to disappear.

"Get ready!" I said coldly.

"What should we prepare?"

"Start the battle!" As soon as I finished speaking, the blue light suddenly disappeared, and a large group of bloody zombies roared and rushed towards us. I screamed and raised my longsword to slash at them. Rotten blood splattered all over my face, and I almost vomited.

I must say that this original body had excellent reflexes and combat ability. I gritted my teeth and fought hard, killing one that pounced on me, killing two that pounced on me, and finally I managed to fight my way out of the zombies' encirclement.

Looking back at the other "me," or rather, him, he was struggling to fight a group of zombies. Clearly, my original self's weakness was holding him back; he was exhausted, and although he was tenacious in battle, he was somewhat powerless.

I rushed over and swung my longsword. An amazing scene unfolded: a dazzling blue light emanated from the tip of the sword, striking the zombie that was charging at me. With a bang, the zombie exploded into pieces.

I suddenly realized that only by exerting all my strength and being completely focused can I unleash the full potential of the sword.

I swung my longsword with all my might once more, and blue light burst forth, striking the zombies fiercely. Blood rained down and fragments swept across the battlefield. For the first time, I experienced the feeling of fighting a bloody battle.

To be honest, there was actually a sense of exhilaration. It was the feeling of being in control after experiencing extreme fear.

It was like I suddenly had a cheat code activated, like a hero in a TV drama, holding the "female lead" with one hand and wielding a long sword to kill zombies with the other, charging forward, feeling extremely high, it was so exhilarating.

None of the zombies were a match for me. I killed them one by one, engaging in a bloody massacre. However, there were too many of them, and I gradually became overwhelmed.

I was so engrossed in the fighting that I was starting to feel overwhelmed when a squad of armored guards came rushing towards me from afar. I secretly breathed a sigh of relief, cursing under my breath, "Why did it take you so long? I would have died a hundred times over if I had relied on you guys."

The armored guards charged forward, their swords flashing, and the zombies fell one after another.

The sounds of wind, swords, knives, screams, and roars rose and fell.

Someone lit a huge fire. With the wind blowing, the fire grew fiercer and fiercer, spreading across the entire square. The burning zombies emitted terrifying screams, like the sharp whistles of demons from hell, sending chills down one's spine.

I also smelled a strong, pungent stench of burning corpses, a nauseating, foul odor. I couldn't help but vomit again, throwing up violently. After barely finishing, I wiped the grime from the corner of my mouth with my sleeve, and just then I saw another version of myself—coldly watching a group of zombies struggling in the flames.

Now, he turned his face to stare at me, the coldness in his eyes almost swallowing me whole.

I flinched – why so fierce?

Amidst the raging flames, his gaze was chilling.

I felt a strange pressure and started stammering again, "What...what are you trying to say to me?"

“You’ll announce it later,” he said coldly, his face expressionless, “that I am your chief mistress.”

"Huh?" What does that mean?

“You can choose not to say anything,” his voice and gaze were equally chilling, “but without me, you’ll be exposed very quickly.”

"What if we get caught?" I asked again.

He looked at me with that look of utter contempt, like I was an idiot.

"My lord—" A general covered in filth, accompanied by a dozen or so surviving guards, rushed over in a disheveled state, knelt down, and said in a hoarse voice, "Your subordinate is late in coming to your rescue."

I was about to say it was nothing, but when I saw him glaring at me, I shut my mouth.

The general hurriedly explained the reason for his lateness: there were too many zombies along the way, which had delayed him considerably.

I looked at him, intending to answer based on his reaction, but his eyes were almost frozen—just a block of ice, and there was no other reaction.

"I'll call you Ice Man then," I cursed inwardly, but said to the general aloud, "I understand."

That statement shouldn't be wrong, right?

Unexpectedly, he drew the general's sword and swiftly sliced off the general's right arm. Blood gushed out, and everyone was stunned. They heard him say slowly, "This time, the lord is kind-hearted and only took your arm."

The general knelt on the ground, clutching his right arm, too pained to speak.

He looked at me again, his eyes even colder. I took a deep breath, swallowed back the words "You're too cruel," and said with difficulty, "Let me introduce you, he...she is my chief mistress."

The other generals and guards looked at him in surprise and bowed slightly.

The next second, he suddenly stood on tiptoe, wrapped his arms around my neck, and kissed my lips forcefully. I was stunned and forgot to react. He pried open my teeth and forcefully and domineeringly entwined his tongue with mine. My heart suddenly raced, and I tried to push him away with muffled sounds, but he kissed me even more fiercely, biting and kissing my neck. It didn't hurt, but it tickled...

Just as I was about to suffocate, he released me, only to chop off the head of a zombie that lunged at him with a single blow...
