Chapter 205 "My life needs you."...

Chapter 205 "My life needs you."...

For the first three days, the eastern border held the upper hand, but on the fourth day, the northern border began to gain the upper hand, and news of defeats kept reaching the capital. King Amur was furious and sent two more capable generals to the front lines, along with an additional 20,000 troops.

“If all the king’s illegitimate children hadn’t died, they would have sent the illegitimate children right now. It’s a pity to miss this opportunity to make a name for oneself.”

"The opportunity to make a name for themselves has now been given to the second sons of high-ranking nobles, and the high-ranking nobles are very happy. The king's illegitimate sons have been fighting amongst themselves, and now it's their sons who benefit."

It is said that upon their victorious return, a third of the spoils would go to the winning generals, and if they could acquire land, they would be rolling in it. Previously, these spoils belonged to the king's illegitimate sons, but now the high-ranking nobles finally had their chance.

"I heard that Roxi acquired a lot of treasure and land back then. There were wars all over the Eastern Territory at that time, not only border wars, but also wars over mineral resources."

"After Luo Xi died on the battlefield, who inherited his property?"

The nobleman's voice suddenly lowered, "Legend has it that all the living princes received a share, and Prince Bernard got the lion's share."

"What are you doing here?" I was listening intently when a deep, magnetic voice startled me.

The two nobles who were chatting were also startled. They looked up, then immediately slipped away.

I stood still—wanting to leave, but unable to.

Bernard stood before me like a high wall, blocking my way.

I was eavesdropping on people's conversations in this corridor, which is where many servants and guards report on the battle situation. As a result, many nobles stand here every day waiting for news. I often wait here as well, not only to find out about the battle situation, but also to hear a lot of gossip.

"To find out the situation," I replied to Bernard with a forced answer.

"Are you trying to find out bad things about me?" Bernard looked at me with a half-smile.

"How could this be?!" I chuckled and tried to walk around him and leave from the other side, but he immediately blocked the other side.

"Excuse me, could you please move aside?" I said with an extremely polite smile. "I'm about to head back."

"I'm in a bad mood lately, take me for a walk in the garden?" he actually said this out of the blue.

The nobles in the corridor were all glancing at us subtly, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. "Isn't this inconvenient?"

My husband got arrested and is in jail because of a sex scandal. Now I'm going for a walk with another man. Just thinking about it gives me a headache.

“How could it be inconvenient?” Bernard smiled slyly. “It’s inconvenient when you don’t have a man with you. Some lecherous men might sneak into your room to get intimate with you, but they wouldn’t dare if I were here.”

"You're overthinking it. How could such a thing happen?"

“How could it not be? The other day, it was because the Queen was pregnant and Father didn’t go to her room that caused such a big incident,” Bernard said meaningfully. “A woman’s room can’t be left empty.”

"Nothing will happen in my room." I tried to slip out from the side while he wasn't looking, but he stopped me again.

I was getting a little angry. "Prince Bernard, please move aside!"

"No!" he said, looking aggrieved. "If you don't accompany me for a walk, I won't let you."

As more and more nobles glanced over, and several ladies were whispering and laughing to themselves, I had no choice but to bite the bullet and agree. Anyway, I could always slip away once we got to the garden.

It snowed last night, and the garden is covered in silver. The snow on the branches and the snow on the lawn are all beautiful.

Stepping onto the thick snow, Bernard spoke first, "If you go to see King Sarga, I will accompany you."

Why are we talking about this? I smiled and said, "Thank you very much."

He laughed, "Before that, I hope you can get pregnant and have my child, so that you won't be reluctant to leave after seeing your daughter."

I laughed out loud, "Even if I were to get pregnant, I wouldn't want to have your child; I'd want to have my husband's child."

“Your marriage is just for profit,” he said, blinking.

“Your marriage is also based on mutual benefit,” I said.

“Yes,” he said frankly, “so my life needs you.”

"But I don't need you in my life."

“You will need me in your life,” he said gently.

"Let's talk about it when you get a divorce. Will you even get a divorce? Besides, do you have any money? Can you support me? I heard you're short on cash lately. With that little bit of money, let alone supporting a mistress, let's see if you can even support yourself."

His expression changed slightly, and he added, "I'm short of money lately, but I can still support you."

"With your meager funds, I spit on you!" I said without hesitation, showing my contempt. "I wouldn't even consider you. I'd rather be with King Sarr; he's richer. I've been to his treasury a few times, and it almost blinded me with its brilliance."

“You’re such a vain woman, all you care about is money.” He was slightly annoyed. “You’re not getting his treasure trove; you can only look, not take.”

I retorted angrily, "He has so many treasures in his vault, he could just give me a few and I'd be richer than you."

“I won’t be broke forever,” he tried to explain.

"What's it to me?" I said, getting a little impatient. "Even if you become rich in the future, it won't concern me. You have so many mistresses to support, how much of it will actually go to me?"

"You won't get less; you'll get the most."

"I won't be a mistress anymore. Come back to me after you get a divorce." I turned and left, already impatient.

He didn't stop me; his chest heaved slightly, clearly quite angry as well.

That evening, I made my routine prison visit and chatted with Derson for a while in his cell. I only told him about the battle situation and the current state of affairs at the palace. He remained silent for most of the time. We couldn't discuss sensitive topics, and several guards were watching us intently.

"What will Father do with me in the end?" Desen asked softly.

"I don't know yet," I answered truthfully.

"How is the Queen?"

I was surprised that he cared about the Queen. In this situation, most men would be scared out of their wits and run as far away as possible, not daring to mention her. But he openly asked her about her.

“She would interrogate her every night, and the king would torture her.”

Seeing his silent face again, I said, "But don't worry, she's not dead yet, and the king probably doesn't want her to die so soon."

When I got back to my dorm room, my steps were a little heavy.

For some reason, I actually felt a little sorry for Desmond and the Queen.

Stepping into the room, I suddenly felt something was off. The dozens of candles on the candlesticks were burning as usual, the deep purple bed curtains trailed on the floor, and all the curtains were drawn, just like always. The room was quiet and peaceful, everything was the same as usual, but I felt that something was not right.

I walked quickly to the bedside, pulled back the bed curtains, and there was a naked man with a six-pack and a strong waist on my bed, smiling at me.

His long, silver hair cascaded down his muscular chest and abs, exuding a captivating allure, fiery hormones, and an irresistible aroma.

“Bernot, what are you doing here?” I roared in anger.

"Just offering myself as a bedmate," he chuckled. "I told you, your room can't be empty."

“Get out,” I yelled. “Don’t you know that’s immoral?”

He burst into laughter, the laughter never ceasing, "It would be immoral of me not to sleep with you."

I grabbed a tinderbox used for lighting candlesticks and threw it at him. He dodged slightly, then grabbed my wrist. I felt a numbness, and the tinderbox fell onto the bed, where he threw it off the bed.

I was pinned down by him, and the heat from his body spread to me, causing waves of agitation. I struggled desperately with my legs, trying to kick, but I couldn't move them at all.

“Don’t move,” he said, panting. “The more you move, the more I want to, and I can’t help but fuck you.”

"You dare!" I yelled shrilly.

"Why wouldn't I dare? If it really comes down to it, I can't help myself."

“I will go and tell the king!” I cried.

He laughed loudly, his entire burly body shaking, which made my body even hotter, turning red all the way to the roots of my ears.

“The king now wishes you would be taken by someone else. Your husband has taken his wife, so he wishes you would be taken by someone else.”

No wonder he was so audacious! I was instantly enraged, screaming and biting him desperately until he finally let go of me.

But he didn't get out of bed. He panted beside me and said, "I don't want to force you, but I don't want to leave you either."

I stared at him, speechless for a long time.

His body was already reacting very clearly. "Look what you've done to me. I haven't been able to take care of myself like this for years," he complained.

"Who helped you before? How did they help you?" I asked lazily.

"I dare not say," he said obediently, "You'll scold me if I do."

"With your mouth or your hands? Or something else?"

"Yes, we have both."

I looked at him coldly, "Don't expect me to help you like this."

“I don’t expect it.” He was even more obedient.

The next morning, when Bernard came out of my room, no one seemed surprised. The two maids who were guarding my door looked normal, and then the maid who was cleaning the sheets and carrying a basin of water came in, also looking normal, and changed the sheets and clothes for me to wash my face.

After that night, he frequently appeared in my bed. I told Hero to keep a close watch on my bedroom door, but Hero was in a difficult position. "We just couldn't stop him," she said. "We were terrified when he glared at us."

There was absolutely nothing I could do; I, a weak woman, couldn't stop such a lecherous man.

I tried to help him choose new mistresses, inviting several ladies and noblewomen who fit his taste to my little palace for afternoon tea. Women who could laugh, flirt, were charming, and had big butts were the kind of women he liked.

I deliberately chose a day when he might come over, and even postponed the afternoon tea time a little so that he would arrive just as we were leaving in the evening.

The ladies and young women showed shy or alluring expressions, but he simply smiled.

As a wealthy woman left, she rubbed her buttocks against his hand. He pretended not to notice.

I exclaimed, "You're so clueless about romance!"

“You’re the one who really doesn’t understand romance,” he said, feigning grievance.

I turned away and ignored her. "Why should I be flirtatious with you? My husband is in jail, and there's a war going on outside."

The battle intensified. Sometimes the East prevailed, sometimes the North. The North was still embroiled in internal strife, and no one knew what the Grand Chancellor of the North was thinking. I never received another letter from him.

My meeting with King Sarga has been repeatedly postponed. The Grand Master of the North has made it clear that he does not want me to meet with King Sarga, whether it is because he fears our old feelings will rekindle or because he is worried about the alliance between the East and the Elven Realms, he has already proven it with war. King Amur is still somewhat hesitant to act rashly.
