Chapter 210 Chapter 210 I Love You!

Chapter 210 Chapter 210 I Love You!

From afar, I saw several maids surrounding a little girl as they approached, and I quickly went to greet her.

The little girl, dressed in a gorgeous tutu and with her long braids neatly combed, saw me and gave me the reserved smile typical of a noble lady. "Mother, Father wants me to have breakfast with you. He said you're leaving this morning."

"Okay," I said with a smile.

We sat at a table on the beach for breakfast. It was simple, but the fried eggs were fragrant, the milk was fresh, and the fruit and vegetable salad was delicious. Anreya ate very elegantly and gracefully, while I, her mother, seemed rather uncouth, as if I couldn't match her elegance in using a knife and fork. She must have received rigorous training in etiquette.

“Mother, Father asked me if there was any way to keep you here?” Anleya said after finishing her milk.

"This...is not up to me to decide," I sighed.

I have virtually no personal freedom; I'm watched wherever I go.

"You mean, violent robbery is acceptable?"

I was stunned; I never expected her to say that.

"It's easy to seize by force, you can just rob it directly, but what are your true thoughts? Which man do you want to be with?"

I paused for a moment before answering, "Did your father ask you to ask that?"

"That's what he meant."

“You’re still young,” I said. “You shouldn’t get involved in too many adult matters.”

"You only need to answer me, Mother."

I remained silent.

Little Anleya smiled, "Father is a little worried about me. He's worried that when I grow up, I'll be like you. What if I attract a few men who want to spy on me? Will that cause chaos in the Elf Realm?"

What's your opinion of me, Anleya?

“You are not a bad woman, but you are not suitable for this place. When I saw you, I felt that you were different from my father’s other women. You don’t have much scheming, but that’s precisely why you are not suitable for this place.”

Do you have any advice for me?

"You answer my question first, then I'll answer yours."

"I don't want to be with any man; they're all too selfish."

“Mother, selfless men can’t survive here, and I believe there are mostly selfish men where you are too.”

Anleya began to answer my question, “I have only one piece of advice for you: if you’re going to live, live well; if you’re going to die, die now.”

I was stunned. She merely glanced at me coldly before getting up and leaving.

The sun was high in the sky, and the ship set sail. I stood on the deck, waving goodbye to Anreya from afar. Anreya, along with her maids, was like a blurring white shadow, gradually disappearing from view.

The waves rolled rapidly, seagulls cried in the sky, and sunlight bathed half the sea. It was a long time before I finally sat down.

Bernard was talking to one of his subordinates. After they finished, he came over to me and asked, "Why don't you go back to your cabin and rest for a bit?"

"I just got up."

"You didn't sleep much last night, did you?"

"Okay, I'm going to take a nap now." I turned and left. Actually, I didn't want to sleep, but I was too lazy to talk to him any longer.

I had only taken two steps when, with a loud bang, before I could even react, the entire ship was hit by a stray bullet and tilted to one side. Then, with another bang, the bow of the ship was split in two, and I screamed as I fell into the sea.

I swallowed several mouthfuls of seawater, and my whole body kept sinking. In my panic, I flailed my arms and legs, which made me sink even more. Suddenly, a strong arm grabbed my waist, and a big, strong leg pushed against my buttocks, lifting me up. Then, another hand supported my neck, bringing me to the surface. In just a few seconds, I surfaced and took a few deep breaths. Finally, I could breathe again.

The thick smell of gunpowder filled the sea, the sound of cannon fire echoed constantly, and the occasional clash of swords could be heard. Two broken pieces of the ship still floated on the surface, and the guards who had not fallen into the sea were fighting fiercely with a group of burly men wearing bronze masks.

Bernard settled me in a secluded corner of the ship, my hands gripping the deck as I gasped for breath.

"Hang in there, reinforcements should be here soon!" he comforted me.

"Was it King Sarga who attacked us?"

“No,” he replied unexpectedly, “it should be the North.”

How did you know?

"I guessed, judging from the assassin's skills."

The men on both broken ships were locked in fierce combat; their figures could be seen battling it out through the thin mist of smoke. Bernard stayed close to me the whole time, never leaving my side.

Not far away, another ship appeared, its masts fluttering white flags—it was the Elven Realm. Bernard cursed under his breath, then immediately led me to an even more secluded corner of the ship, which he must have just discovered.

But this more secluded corner of the ship couldn't hide me for long. We were soon discovered, and several elven guards charged at us. Bernard had to jump out to fight. He and I fought them fiercely on the broken half of the ship, and we killed two elven guards, but more elven guards surrounded us.

The bronze-masked assassins from the North spotted us and charged over. In the ensuing chaos, all three sides were locked in combat.

My hand was held tightly by Bernard's hand, and he never let go for a moment.

The stench of blood began to spread, thick and pungent, and the number of dead and wounded increased. In the midst of the fierce fighting, I even forgot my fear and could only blindly follow Bernard's movements.

The yellowed paper I used to hide on my chest, the one with the words "The cycle of life, the cycle of fate" written on it, was faintly warm, but I didn't notice it.

Bernard was already injured, and the injury was quite serious. Both arms were bleeding, and his right shoulder was also bleeding heavily. Reinforcements had not yet arrived.

He protected me desperately, afraid that I would get hurt.

Several times, swords and knives came at me, almost hitting me, but he blocked them with his hands or body.

"You must also protect yourself and never get hurt," he said to me urgently. "If you get hurt, you might disappear."

He meant for me to go back to the modern era.

A tall, masked assassin suddenly attacked us with tremendous force. Bernard reacted quickly and blocked the heavy sword strike, causing him to loosen his grip on my hand.

The force of the blow caused me to stumble a few steps, separating me slightly from him. Taking advantage of this moment, the tall assassin suddenly yanked me, and my entire body fell towards him. As Bernard tried to grab my hand, several assassins surged out from the side, their blades flashing and striking relentlessly. Bernard had no choice but to fight them off with all his might.

In that instant, the tall assassin grabbed my right hand, lifted me up around the waist, and threw me into a small boat hurtling towards him. Benoît charged at us again, but the small boat was even faster, almost lightning-fast leaving the broken half of the vessel. Benoît jumped off, but more assassins followed, surrounding him...

We separated them like that. The small boat sped forward, and through the smoke and mist, several more small boats appeared, escorting it as it flew forward.

Suddenly, a flock of black birds appeared in the sky not far away, with guards riding on them. Judging from the color of their armor, they were guards from the Eastern Frontier. Reinforcements had arrived. Bernard quickly shook off the attacking assassins, leaped onto a bird, and rushed towards my small boat at lightning speed.

A moment later, he hovered above the small T-boat. He suddenly jumped down, trying to grab me, but was blocked by a sword thrust out horizontally. He and the tall assassin engaged in a fierce battle, while I was firmly held in place by the other two assassins on the boat.

Blood splattered everywhere, the stench of blood thick and strong, constantly splashing onto me and the two assassins. They moved with incredible speed and agility; I couldn't even see how they fought.

The small boat tilted and swayed, nearly capsizing several times, but managed to pull back each time.

The overwhelming smell of blood attracted sharks. A large school of sharks surrounded all the boats and quickly closed in on us. It was the first time I had ever seen anything like it, and I screamed in terror. Their fight paused for a second, then resumed. Several times, two of them tried to grab me, but the other forcefully stopped them each time.

The two assassins controlling me trembled slightly, seemingly also horrified by the intense fighting.

The sharks began attacking the ship, and our ship rocked even more violently. Many people fell from other ships screaming in terror. I was held firmly by two assassins, which prevented me from falling.

The two were still fighting, and even the birds in the sky began to cry out in hoarse alarm—frightened by the powerful shark.

Suddenly, I saw a blur before my eyes as the bird swooped down at extremely low speed, its sharp beak blinding the two assassins. I broke free of my restraints and leaped onto its back. Bernard was incredibly fast; before I could even blink, he had already flipped onto the bird's back, holding me with one arm while still fighting the tall assassin with the other. With a whoosh, the bird soared into the sky, a cold wind whistling through the air, blowing my long hair across my face and stinging my eyes so badly I had to close them…

After the birds carried us to another ship in the distance, I discovered that Bernard was severely injured, his entire body was covered in blood, and I was stained with his blood.

On the deck of the ship, I held him tightly and suddenly cried...

That evening, we arrived at the port in the eastern border aboard the ship. A large number of guards, carriages, and doctors were already waiting at the port.

When he was lifted onto the carriage, he clung tightly to my clothes, refusing to let go.

I told him that we were taking him back to the palace for treatment and that he shouldn't worry.

But he still refused to let go.

The commander of the guards asked me to go back to the palace with him. I refused and prepared to forcibly pry his fingers open so they could take him back. But he suddenly said in a very low and weak voice, "Take me to your house, to the noble quarter."

I had no choice but to agree.

He remained in a coma for three days and three nights, suffering from recurring fevers, which the doctor attributed to a severe infection. A group of female doctors and I stayed by his bedside, taking turns changing ice packs, wiping his body, and administering medication. I dozed off several times during this time, only to wake up to find him still unconscious, causing me immense anxiety.

On the fourth night, he finally made a faint sound, asking for water. A female healer quickly fed him water, and after taking a sip, he began calling my name again: "Lan...na".

“I’m here,” I said quickly.

"water."

I took the water cup from the female doctor and carefully fed him. He was so difficult to take care of; I had to feed him myself.

He drank a few sips and fell into a deep sleep. I touched his forehead; it didn't seem as hot as it had been a few hours ago, and I breathed a slight sigh of relief.

He woke up several more times after that, either asking me to feed him water or whispering "I love you" in my ear. I blushed with embarrassment. Although his voice was soft, the female doctors who were waiting nearby could hear him clearly.

They were expressionless, but I felt awkward.
