Chapter 217 "I don't believe what you people here..."
He took his daughter, the bride, by the hand, smiled, and walked towards the young groom in his bright red robe, handing her over to him before standing aside.
An elderly priest in white robes began to officiate the wedding, chanting incantations. A group of girls shouted and laughed as they showered flower petals on the bride and groom. The music became even more joyful, and everyone burst into laughter.
After the priests blessed the newlyweds, the bride and groom were led to the banquet table to toast the elders. Attis was also seated among them. Daio, wearing a crown and smiling broadly, sat in the main seat, and the bride first toasted him.
I squeezed into the crowd and watched for a while, then, feeling bored, I found a table and sat down. I'd only been sitting there a short while when Artis suddenly appeared and sat down beside me.
I held a wine glass, smiled, and said, "So, why did you go to all this trouble to find me?"
Artis was also very straightforward, laughing as he said, "This is the burial place of the Elf Queen; you can always find some inspiration here."
"What inspirations?" I asked with a smile.
"For example, we might discover some secrets about this island."
"The secret to getting rich?" I laughed. "Such things are rare and hard to come by. You kidnapped me for this? I might not be able to help you."
Not far away, a sexy woman dressed in a sheer veil was holding a wine glass, watching me with a hint of wariness.
I asked him with a smile, "Is this your new mistress?"
“You know her, you’ve met her,” Artis replied.
The bright light from the campfire illuminated the beautiful woman's face, making her exquisitely delicate, almost like an AI. I remembered seeing her in the Fairy Realm; she swam like a mermaid in a "fish tank," available for nobles to choose from.
"The Elf King still gave her to you?" I remember he refused at the time.
“She and I now have two sons, of course, they are illegitimate children.”
I laughed out loud, "You men are so two-faced! If you liked her, why didn't you want her back then? Why did you pretend to refuse?"
“I really didn’t want it at the time,” he said earnestly, “I was afraid you would be angry.”
"But you still wanted it, and even had two sons." I laughed. "You men are so hypocritical."
"How can I avoid being hypocritical? Should I ask for it right away, even if it makes you angry?"
"No, I wouldn't accept it even if it were forced upon me, and I certainly wouldn't have a son with her."
“That’s probably a bit impossible,” he said honestly. “Once a woman takes off her clothes, it’s hard for a man to resist, especially a beautiful woman.”
"Oh, so she seduced you? Or did you take the initiative yourself?"
He suddenly choked for a moment before saying, "She didn't take it off voluntarily; I was a little drunk at the time."
"So you just went along with it half-heartedly?" I said, somewhat disheartened. "Okay, okay, stop explaining, I'm too tired."
Too lazy to waste time with these hypocrites, I put my glass on the table, stood up, and said, "I'm tired, I'm going back to sleep."
"I hope you have a good dream tonight, and dream of the Elf Queen as you always have," he said with a smile.
"I hope so too." I chuckled dryly and left the table.
As soon as I walked away, I saw the AI beauty immediately go to Artis's side, sit on his lap, put her arms around his neck, and laugh intoxicatedly, as if to assert her dominance.
I chuckled again and walked towards the corridor outside the courtyard. Back in my room, I took a shower, changed into clean cotton pajamas, and walked into the bedroom while drying my long hair. But then I suddenly stopped and my eyes widened.
A blond, handsome man with a completely naked body, eight-pack abs, and a strong build was standing in front of my bed.
"I say, isn't it my turn now?" he asked with a grin.
I snapped out of my daze and exclaimed, "Daio, what are you doing here?!"
"What do you think I want to do?" He walked up to me brazenly, naked, and his height of one and a half heads taller than mine made me feel very intimidated.
“You’ve been with King Sarga, Manboa, and Benoit, and several men. Now it’s my turn, isn’t it?” he said. “We should have been together long ago, but I was only seventeen then, having just fled here, and was being forced to get married. I didn’t have time to think about it.”
I burst into laughter, laughing so hard I could hardly breathe.
He was quite displeased. "What are you laughing at? Come on, take off your clothes. If you're shy, I'll take them off for you." He started to pull at my pajamas, but I slapped his hand away and stepped back, laughing loudly. "Are you kidding me?! In my eyes, you're just a child who hasn't grown up yet."
"What child?! Look at me, so robust, and you treat me like a child?!" He was extremely displeased, pointing to himself, "I'm in my twenties, almost thirty, and you still think I'm a child?"
"Okay, sorry, I shouldn't have said that," I quickly replied with a smile.
"So, is it okay now?!" He took two more steps closer to me. "You don't need to worry about having a child. You can take birth control pills or give birth to the baby. I can definitely support our illegitimate child."
I laughed out loud, "You're overthinking it, I never intended to be with you."
“But I’ve been thinking about this for years. I should have pulled you down and fucked you properly, fucked you through.” He said without any restraint, almost face to face with me.
I hurriedly stepped back, but he pulled me back forcefully and hugged me tightly. The physical difference between the two men and women made me feel hot. I wanted to get away, but I couldn't.
"Hold me," he said, his breathing becoming unsteady, "I need you to hold me."
I kicked him hard, and he cried out in pain. Before he could react, I kicked him again, this time in the stomach, sending him flying. He cried out in pain again, and although he didn't fall to the ground, he staggered several steps. "How can you be so strong?"
"It's something you learn through practice," I said.
I'm telling the truth. Although I didn't exercise much in the Eastern Territory, I would occasionally practice on the punching bag. The royal palace in the Eastern Territory has a dedicated sports field.
Finally, his enthusiasm was dampened, and he left dejectedly. Naked, he slammed the door shut, leaving behind the words, "You have absolutely no idea what the pleasures of love between men and women are like."
What's so fun about that?! I sneered and locked the door. So what if it's exciting and taboo? I don't care about any of that.
I was awakened early in the morning by the screams and cries of women. Still half asleep, I opened the window to see what was happening.
The layout of this island palace is quite interesting; it's a structure of a huge courtyard, built on the foundation of the palace constructed by the first group of refugees. Perhaps to save manpower and resources, it only has two stories at most. The entire palace isn't very large, so any earth-shattering events that happen can be heard clearly.
A woman in pajamas was chasing and hitting a naked woman, punching, kicking, and pulling her hair. Several maids rushed over and tried to pull them apart, but they continued to fight each other. The woman in pajamas was extremely strong and pinned the naked woman down, slapping her left and right. The naked woman screamed and cried, and the woman in pajamas hit her even harder, as if she was using all her strength.
Finally, more maids and guards arrived, and this time they were finally separated. The woman in the pajamas was dragged away by a strong guard, who was shouting something at the top of her lungs. I couldn't hear her clearly from a distance, but I could vaguely make out words like "bitch," "slut," and "my pussy is so itchy." I had a vague idea of what was going on.
Sitting alone in my small room eating breakfast, I casually asked the maid, "Why is it so noisy this morning? Is something wrong?"
The maid didn't hide anything and told me frankly, "Lady Alice discovered this morning that her husband had slept with Miss Yade."
"Who is Mrs. Allie?"
"Lady Alice and Miss Yade are both daughters of Lord Artis, and Lady Alice is the bride who got married last night."
I was stunned. This... At the same time, I remembered that many years ago, Artis had introduced me to her two daughters, Alice and Ada, both of whom were illegitimate children.
"Why is this happening?" I asked.
"I heard that Miss Yade had already fallen in love with last night's groom, but Lord Artis still married Lady Alice to him. Miss Yade was resentful, so while Lady Alice was bathing and changing clothes this morning, she went to sleep with the groom." The maid was still straightforward.
The fact that no attempt was made to cover it up means that the news has already spread, and there is no point in trying to cover it up anymore.
After breakfast, Artis actually arrived. He was dressed in black riding attire and a black cloak, looking like he was going out.
I was a little surprised. After such a messy morning, he actually came to see me. Isn't he going to deal with it?
“I want to take you to see our island kingdom, Achia. You’ve been away for several years, so you probably don’t know how much it has changed here, do you?” he said with a smile.
"Okay, let's go take a look." I didn't refuse and answered with a smile.
We rode on colorful flying birds, followed by a large group of guards riding similar birds. The wind howled, blowing my hair and coat into disarray. After flying over one or two hills, the colorful birds landed, where a beautiful and sturdy black carriage was parked.
We boarded the black carriage again. The carriage entered a bustling village, with rows of low houses, occasionally interspersed with beautiful large houses, complete with courtyards and terraces. The road was uneven, full of potholes, and the carriage bumped along rather haphazardly, but not severely.
Right next to the road were rows of shops, not many, but enough to keep the street bustling with life. There were shops selling pastries, pots and pans, fabrics, clothes and shoes, and the sounds of people calling out their wares and haggling could be heard from time to time.
"When we first arrived on the island, it was a desolate wasteland. In just a few years, it has transformed into a bustling market town, which is no easy feat," Artis said. "Behind the villages and towns, there are vast fields, orchards, and farms, all well-managed. The population of our kingdom has also tripled since we first arrived. Many of them were brought over from the Elven Realm by us. We took great risks, and many people died on the way, but half of them still made it to the island safely."
"You're very capable!" I have to admit.
“I’m very happy to receive your praise,” he said.
The carriage continued forward, passing another cluster of houses and a small square with a fountain; the layout was somewhat similar to the villages and towns of the Elf's Secret Realm. It seemed that a sense of national pride and patriotism remained strong.
As they drove out of the village, Artis said again, "Lanna, it was you who brought our people back from the brink of death. We had fled in panic, like stray dogs, not knowing where we would go tomorrow. It was you who brought us to this island, rebuilt our home, and discovered two mines, bringing us enormous wealth. This gave us the strength to fight against the Elven Realm and establish relations with the outside world. I have always been grateful to you."
I just smiled and didn't say anything. What's the use of just saying thank you verbally if there's no real action? I've been wandering for so many years, and they've never offered me a helping hand.
“If you wish, you can become the Queen of our Achia and marry my nephew,” he said, making a startling statement. “You can also marry me and become the wife of the powerful Prime Minister. I am not married yet, since my divorce from you.”
I chuckled dryly twice and said, "Is this how you repay me?"
"What do you expect in return?" he asked me in return.
“To be honest, I don’t trust any of the men here. They’re all up to no good,” I said. “I can’t outsmart you, and I don’t want to.”
"What kind of help would you be willing to accept in order to continue helping us?" he asked.
The implication is: what do you want us to do in order to get a few more mine shafts?
I chuckled and said, "I'm a very traditional person. Once I'm married, I don't want to change. I still have a husband. How about this, you find my exiled husband and bring him back to live with me. Also, I need to get the bloodstained handkerchiefs from Xiya and Haiya. But even if you manage to do both of these things, I still might not be able to help you. Last time was just lucky."
He paused for a moment, then said, "Perhaps, this time I can be lucky again."
I laughed out loud, "You think a lot of money falls from the sky so easily? I told you long ago, the Queen won't come looking for me again."
He stared intently at me, as if trying to discern whether what I said was true or false.
"Think it through. Even if you do what I need, I may still not be able to give you what you need."
