Chapter 227 "I told you long ago you should marry me..."

Chapter 227 "I told you long ago you should marry me..."

The wind in the West Frontier doesn't have the distinctive salty and damp smell of the Secret Island winds; instead, it carries the scent of the desert, with each gust carrying a grain of sand, giving it the feel of a hot monsoon.

Standing on the balcony atop the royal castle, facing the scorching wind, I imagined countless times what it would feel like to jump from there.

It's possible to fall tragically like a bird that has lost its wings, or it's possible to be like the wind, leaving no trace after it passes, dying as if it died in vain, without any sense of existence.

I might fall and be smashed to pieces, my limbs might break, my head might crack into a rotten melon, in any case, there will be blood flowing everywhere on the ground, and I will look hideous.

That day, I finally signed the contract to transfer the royal city. If I hadn't signed, Beatrice would have thrown me overboard immediately.

With a sword pressed against my neck, I had no choice but to submit.

After the contract was signed, the ship sailed swiftly, soon reaching the western border. Suddenly, the Elf King's fleet caught up, engaging in a fierce battle with Beatrice's guards. In the nick of time, Beatrice led me onto a small boat, and with the help of a dozen strong warriors, we escaped safely. Our small boat shot across the western border like an arrow, and within a quarter of an hour, the fighting on the ships ceased. Knowing we had successfully escaped, the Elf King had no choice but to return home.

I was placed under house arrest in a castle within the Western Kingdom, where my every move, from food and clothing to shelter, was monitored. Even when I went to the toilet, someone was guarding the door.

Beatrice chuckled, "So what if she's a superpowered woman? She's just been elevated by a bunch of men; she's actually a useless piece of trash."

Occasionally, when she was in the mood, Beatrice would call me to a social ball and make fun of me in front of some nobles.

I pretended not to hear, sipped my juice, and didn't say anything.

Some nobles flattered her, echoing Beatrice's words: "That's right, the superpowered woman is just someone's creation."

Some nobles laughed loudly, "Your Majesty, why should you pay so much attention to her? Just be happy!"

Some nobles laughed and said, "How can a woman with superpowers compare to you?"

Only a very few nobles remained silent, appearing indifferent.

I secretly memorized the names of these very few nobles.

The ball was filled with singing and dancing, and the music was soaring. Beatrice laughed heartily on her throne, surrounded by three or four handsome men who kept trying to please her.

After midnight, a group of handsome men with great figures, muscular builds, narrow waists, and perky buttocks stripped naked and danced in front of Beatrice, raising their legs and bending over, making Beatrice laugh so hard she almost fell over.

It was so offensive that I couldn't help but ask to leave. Beatrice was having a great time and didn't bother with me. She waved me away, and I hurriedly left.

Two days later, Haiya actually showed up. In the years since we last met, he had even grown taller, and his bean sprout-like figure had become more robust. His slightly plump, round face looked much better than his previous pointed and monkey-like appearance.

He laughed heartily, "I told you you should marry me, you're a complete mess now."

I didn't speak, and lay on a rocking chair with my eyes closed.

In the sunlight, in the courtyard, Haiya grinned from ear to ear, "Being a widow isn't so bad, is it? Haha, you've been a widow twice in a row, it must have been wonderful."

I kept my eyes closed and remained silent.

"Now everyone on the mainland says you're unlucky, you've already lost one husband, and now another one has died!"

"It's a good thing you didn't marry me, otherwise I would be dead too!"

After mocking him mercilessly, Haiya swaggered away.

It was late at night, and all was quiet. I sat on the bed, surrounded by thick bed curtains. I didn't get out of bed until almost dawn.

I slipped out of the room silently, knowing someone was following me. I headed towards the bathroom at the end of the corridor. Beatrice hadn't given me a room with a bathroom, so I had to walk there.

I entered the bathroom, closed the door, and was now alone. I quickly pulled my overly long nightgown up to my waist, tied a knot, and climbed out the window.

There were guards outside the window, but I only started climbing after I saw the patrol team carrying torches walk by.

After I climbed over, I jumped into a huge hot spring.

I once lived in this castle for a while and learned that it was originally a hilltop covered with open-air hot springs of all sizes, some of which were interconnected, such as this one.

I jumped into the water and swam very fast. When Di Yaruo conquered this royal city, she took me on a tour of the castle, inside and out, and told me about the secrets between the rooms and the hot springs. Several rooms with hot springs were secretly connected to the springs, and you could sneak into a room by swimming through a few bends in the hot springs.

“Therefore, some wealthy women and their lovers take advantage of this to have affairs,” Diya Ruo once told me with a grin, “like my mother and her lover. I would never stay in such a room, lest I be ambushed.”

Hya is currently living in one of those rooms.

As dawn approached, a pale, soft light shone on the luxurious and exquisite bed curtains. Haiya, completely naked, slept soundly, her limbs spread out in a wide, comfortable position.

Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain across his neck, which jolted him awake.

"Don't move, and don't speak, or your head will be gone." A familiar, clear female voice came from behind.

"Damn it, you bitch, what are you doing in my room?" he managed to utter with difficulty, his mouth covered.

The sharp knife made a downward cut, and a few streaks of blood oozed from his neck. The excruciating pain rendered him speechless.

“Listen carefully, you have Letea contact me! Don’t let anyone know, or I have ways to kill you.”

He nodded quickly. The cold knife was moved aside.

As the slender figure vanished from the bed, he cursed, "Damn! You scared the hell out of me! Next time you come, I'll fucking kill you, you woman!"

Just one day later, Letea contacted me. It seems Hya has some ability. And then again, how many people who live quite well are truly naive and innocent?

Leithar came to my room at midnight. I wasn't sleeping well, and I woke up as soon as he appeared at my bedside.

"You were looking for me?" he asked coldly.

I sat up halfway quickly. "You got here so fast!"

"What's up?"

“I intend to reclaim my capital city and also seize Beatrice’s independent capital city.”

He scoffed, "Oh, you've got that ability?"

“I don’t know if it will work out, but we have to try.” In the darkness, I looked at his indistinct face. “I don’t know how you are doing in the Western Territory now, but you may have thought about taking a chance on the throne of the Western Territory.”

"Marry that bitch? And then climb the social ladder?"

I know that "that bitch" refers to King Midian's queen, and whoever marries her may become the next king.

Hyja is now her husband, but not officially. She uses his relationship with King Midian to distance herself from him, for the sake of outward aristocratic honor—King Midian killed all her brothers and sisters. Furthermore, with King Midian paralyzed, she needs a powerful figure to secure the support of the Western nobility, and that figure is Hyja, who is directly related to King Midian. She and her family must have this person to gain behind-the-scenes power.

Furthermore, she and King Midian did not divorce; otherwise, how could she have the power to appoint and dismiss the prime minister, leaving the position of regent to her eldest cousin? Only the queen has this power.

The marriage certificate she signed with Haiya was a promise marriage, meaning that she promised to marry Haiya, and Haiya also promised to marry her. The marriage certificate would take effect after King Midan's death.

Just like my "second wife marriage certificate" with Mamboa, the marriage certificate also promised to be valid only in the West, but that was enough for them.

"Do you want to marry her?" I asked. "Or do you hope to seize the throne without marrying her?"

He looked at me coldly. "Why didn't you give this opportunity to Haiya?"

“You are more suited to be the king of the West than he is.”

My honest thought is that Haiya has extremely low moral standards, and I don't want to work with him.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"I am a woman with superpowers."

He stared straight at me without saying a word.

Much later, so much so that I thought he would never answer me again, he finally said, "I'm willing to believe you, not because you're a superpowered woman, but because you've never really harmed anyone. Of course, you do have a little talent."
