Chapter 247 I can't live without him right now.

Chapter 247 I can't live without him right now.

From then on, Paria and I lived in the same room and spent every night together.

I'm not sure if there's love between us, I only know that I can't live without him right now.

I need someone to cuddle with me at night, to talk to me, to drink with me, and sometimes to watch the sunrise with me.

We stood on the balcony of our bedroom, facing the cool morning breeze, watching the red sun slowly rise.

At that moment, the air was still, the surroundings were peaceful, and all worries were completely forgotten.

Just watch, watch the red sun rise high in the sky, its rays illuminating the earth.

I thought this kind of life would last for a while, but then trouble and conflict arose again.

He was still deeply in love with Paria in the first half of the night, their necks intertwined like swans, their lovemaking joyful. But in the second half of the night, his dream of love and desire was shattered by a sudden, heavy knocking on the door.

It was especially shocking in the quiet night.

He had to get out of there. I threw on my robe and rushed out of bed. I opened the door, and the maid, covered in sweat, cried out in alarm, "Madam, the nobles are about to attack! We must escape!"

I was stunned. "What did you say?!" I looked around. "What escape?!"

If there was truly danger, why didn't the guards notify me? Why haven't I received any news at all?

The maid suddenly looked frightened and stared straight behind me.

Before I could turn around, Paria's gentle voice came, "She's quite loyal; she's willing to risk coming to inform you."

The next second, a spurt of blood sprayed onto my face, and the maid's head was severed from her neck and rolled to my feet.

I slowly turned around and saw Paria, naked, holding a sword, with drops of blood sliding down her cheeks.

"Why?" I asked.

"Why do you, a woman, have to be so competitive?" he said. "This continent belongs to men, and women will eventually be overthrown, especially a foreign woman like you."

“Even if I’m overthrown, the throne won’t be yours,” I said.

He just smiled and remained silent.

The sound of hurried footsteps came from the end of the corridor. I turned around and saw a large group of armored guards walking quickly towards me, surrounding a tall, burly man with blue hair and a blue beard in silver armor. It was none other than Grand Duke Sassach.

Grand Duke Szasack strode closer, then suddenly tore off his cloak and draped it over Paria.

I understood instantly.

Paria and Grand Duke Ssaq clasped hands, their fingers interlaced, and gazed at me calmly.

Dozens of longswords were pointed at me.

I smiled calmly, "Does dealing with a woman require such a grand show?"

Grand Duke Ssack remained silent, but Paria replied, "Yes, it is necessary."

After a ten-second standoff, Grand Duke Ssack waved his hand and ordered, "Take her to the main square and execute her immediately."

Before dawn, a faint mist appeared on the horizon, the time when Palia and I usually watched the sunrise.

Now I'm tied to a big wooden stake.

The guards beat drums and gongs, urging the common people to come out and watch the prime minister's execution. The death knell of the royal city tolled again and again, signaling the start of the funeral for the great man.

The square quickly became crowded with commoners, except for a section of open space on the west side that was packed with the carriages of nobles.

"One, two, three!" It seemed as if some nobleman was shouting.

The moment the number "three" fell, a large knife came slashing down at me. With a thud, before I could even feel the pain, my vision went blank, the world spun, and my eyes fell to the ground along with my head. My hearing was still intact, and I heard the terrified screams of the crowd...

The sun was high in the sky, its golden-red rays illuminating the blood-soaked scene. Usually, this was the time when Palia and I would lean on each other, pointing to the rising sun; now, however, blood was splattered everywhere.

The crowd cheered again; that was my last thought.

"The demoness has been eliminated!"

"The demoness has been eliminated!"

I suddenly opened my eyes, quickly sat up halfway, sweat pouring down my back.

Before dawn, the bed curtains hung quietly, and candlelight shone through.

"What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" Paria immediately sat up, casually stroking my forehead, and asked in surprise, "Why are you all sweaty?"

I lifted the bed curtains, quickly glanced at the hourglass, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

"What's wrong with you?!" Paria asked me, getting out of bed naked.

"We'll be watching the sunrise in two hours." I drew back the floor-length curtains. "Can you see that red light over there? Doesn't it look like blood?"

"Blood?!"

I turned and smiled at him. "Yes, after the sun rises, the ground is covered in red light and blood."

He didn't say anything more.

His eyes were wide open.

My body is stiff.

A sharp fruit knife was plunged into his heart.

I let go, and he fell heavily to the ground.

He didn't even utter a sound.

There wasn't even time to ask why.

"I really can't bear to part with you." Tears welled up, but there was no time for sadness. I pulled the knife from his chest, put on his black robe, and secretly slipped out the window...

Half an hour later, a shocking coup d'état broke out.

Grand Duke Ssack's mansion was broken into by assassins. Disguised as dancers, the Prime Minister's confidantes, Bainie and Ethan, quickly infiltrated the kitchen, spilled large barrels of oil all over the floor, and set them ablaze. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the entire kitchen. While everyone else scrambled to put out the fire, Bainie and Ethan rushed into the storeroom, each grabbing a barrel of oil and setting it ablaze.

The entire Grand Duke's mansion descended into chaos. Grand Duke Ssack was absent, leaving everyone without direction; they ran around like headless chickens, making firefighting extremely inefficient.

Flames soared into the sky, thick smoke billowed, and Grand Duke Ssack, who was lying in wait in the palace, looked up at the sky and realized that something had happened in his home.

"Why weren't you notified in time?" Grand Duke Szak asked the newly arrived guards in surprise.

The guard was covered in wounds and blood, but he had already given the Grand Duke his answer.

"Ten of us arrived before us, and they were all killed."

"Then why are you still alive?" the suspicious Grand Duke asked.

Suddenly, over a hundred poisoned arrows shot towards them, killing all the assassins hiding in the bushes. The Grand Duke was shocked and tried to escape, but as soon as he turned around, he was slashed in the chest by a knife.

The one wielding the large sword was the secret guard who had come to deliver the message.

"That's why I was able to get here."

This masked guard is not the Grand Duke's guard.

Grand Duke Sack, clutching his bleeding chest, staggered back a few steps before finally collapsing to the ground...

From a distance, holding binoculars, I stood on a hidden vantage point, coldly observing everything, and waved my hand, "The private army is now entering the city."

"Yes," a general replied.

At my feet, and all around me, lay dozens of corpses, all my secret guards—guards bribed by Grand Duke Ssack beforehand, whom I had slaughtered in one fell swoop. I had secretly summoned them, and then, catching them off guard, I had fired poisoned arrows at them, leaving none alive.

Those who betray me must pay the price.

As the first rays of dawn broke through the thick clouds and illuminated the sky, the two private armies I had bought from Manberia, armed with my city passes, surged into the city like a tidal wave. Together with the Imperial Guards that I had already controlled, they quickly surrounded the Grand Duke Ssack's mansion and palace. Most of the nobles were "beaten" and helpless, hiding in their own homes, not daring to show their heads.

Grand Duke Ssack and his entire family were captured; the men were killed on the spot, and all the women and children were imprisoned. I didn't want to be so cruel, but I had no choice.

If I'm not ruthless, someone else will be ruthless to me and even try to kill me.
