Chapter 38 Being Lord Hoya is too difficult; dealing with all sorts of women...

With the wedding date drawing ever closer, the people in the castle are getting busier, with maids and servants running around everywhere.

I was incredibly busy, with work and trying on dresses and such – I was swamped. Just then, I suddenly received a letter from Rosie. This was the first time I'd encountered Rosie since the zombie outbreak. But it wasn't Rosie visiting; it was her mistress, Eve's older sister, who wanted to attend her sister's wedding.

I summoned the castle steward and asked Rosie what she meant by doing this.

The castle steward looked at me with some flattery—this was the first time I had asked him for advice.

“May I ask you something?” Anmer asked me cautiously, “Why do you ask me that?”

“You’re the most diligent,” I replied.

This is the conclusion I've drawn from my observations. The castle steward, Anmer, is unremarkable among the senior officers, but he is blindly loyal and diligent. When the drainage pipe issue caused controversy among the senior officers, he didn't utter a single word of objection, and instead meticulously completed the assigned tasks, supervising and guiding the plumbing and drainage foremen to ensure every detail was done correctly. Such a person is certainly trustworthy.

Of course, more importantly, he is definitely a first-rate person when it comes to keeping secrets, and he is by no means stupid.

Anmer then said, "In my opinion, you should just welcome Roxi's chief mistress openly and then send her off respectfully after the wedding. To be frank, she's just a pawn of Roxi, here to probe the situation; she can't cause any trouble."

"Hmm, that makes sense."

Two days later, I had just finished trying on my dress and was inspecting the drainage pipe project when Anmer came to report: "Mrs. Hoya has arrived."

Damn, that was fast!

Without even notifying Bernard, I rushed to the Stone Hall. She was a guest and also Rosie's mistress. It was our first meeting, so I had to give her some face and personally greet her.

As soon as you step into the stone hall, you see a graceful and slender figure standing in the center of the hall.

The flickering firelight illuminated her face; she truly lived up to her title as the chief mistress. Not only were her features stunning, but the corners of her eyes also exuded a sensuality that ignited men's desire to conquer her.

This is the real chief mistress; my original body's chief mistress can't compare.

She smiled slightly and bowed gracefully to me. "My lord, I apologize for disturbing you. Hoya from the Suda family sends her greetings."

I glanced at Anmo, who understood and said, "Mrs. Hoya, please come with me. Your room has been arranged."

I said, "It's an honor to meet you. But since you've come from afar, please rest for a while."

Huo Ya smiled and agreed, following behind An Mo. As she passed by me, she suddenly gave me a sweet smile, then tiptoed to hug my waist and stole a kiss on the lips.

I was so shocked that my mind went blank, and I forgot to push him away for a moment.

The moment our lips touched, I snapped back to reality and hurriedly pushed her away. She licked her lips, seemingly still wanting more, and said, "My lord, please forgive me. I couldn't help myself. You are so handsome."

It's similar in meaning to "I just want his body".

I was a little angry. "Get out."

She shrugged. "Don't be angry, I'll go out now."

Before stepping out of the stone hall, she gave me another alluring smile.

"She's really bold," I exclaimed. Suddenly, she looked familiar. I rubbed my eyes, trying to see her clearly, but all I could see was a charming back view.

"That's strange," I scratched my head again, "I feel like I've seen her somewhere before."

I quickly put the matter out of my mind. How could that be? I had absolutely no chance of having any connection with a mistress.

In the evening, I walked through the snowy corridor to the warm bedroom. Bernard was still asleep; he was menstruating again and was feeling very weak. I lingered at the door for a moment, then left.

The wind and snow lashed my face as I struggled forward, when I unexpectedly encountered a bright and sexy face.

I ran into her again?! Only a few hours had passed.

I suspect she was deliberately waiting for me to appear.

"My lord," Hoya called out to me in a coquettish tone.

I ignored her. I have absolutely no interest in other people's mistresses, and I'm even somewhat too lazy to deal with them.

I walked briskly down the snowy corridor, with her close behind.

"Wait for me..." Huo Ya ran forward and grabbed my arm, saying coquettishly, "My lord, you're so naughty."

I got goosebumps.

"I have Rosie's secret, do you want to know?"

I stopped abruptly, and she glanced at me with seductive eyes and laughed.

This seductive charm even moved me, a woman, something a man couldn't imagine.

"Let's talk in the study," I said.

"Okay." She smiled even more broadly.

In the imperial study, she got straight to the point: "I know a huge secret about Luo Xi, but I need you to give me an enormous reward in return."

"What do you want?" I was mentally prepared to replace the bride with her.

She smiled coquettishly and said, "Don't look at me like that. I won't ask you, my lord, to marry me."

I was startled. She actually knew what I was thinking. This woman was no ordinary person—it seemed that no chief mistress was anything but ordinary.

“My request is both simple and difficult,” she said bluntly, “I want one hundred bags of plant seeds.”

One hundred bags? I stared at her in shock for a long time. Here, one hundred bags of plant seeds is almost equivalent to one hundred bags of gold.

"What is Rosie's secret?" I'm not stupid.

She smiled seductively at me, "That depends on how generous you are, my lord."

I had an urge to strangle Bernard right then and there. Being a lord is too hard; dealing with all sorts of women is driving me crazy.

"I guarantee you'll think it's worth it if I tell you this secret." She smiled, her smile captivating and alluring, wicked yet seductive.

“It’s not enough for you to guarantee it,” I said, staring at him like Bernard, “it has to be worth the price.”

She lowered her voice, "Does dealing with snow disasters count?"

I stared at her coldly, "Count it? Count it my ass."

I think I'm becoming more and more like Bernard; if it were Bernard, he would have given a similar answer.

Even though you desperately want it, don't show it at all, lest someone use it against you.

She smiled charmingly, without getting angry.

I shook her off and walked out of the imperial study, but she chased after me, forcibly taking my arm and chuckling, "My lord, I feel like I've seen you somewhere before."

I was slightly startled.

She continued to chuckle softly, "From the first time I saw you, I felt a sense of familiarity. Your eyes, your expression, and even some unintentional gestures all seemed so familiar."

"Oh? Could it be that we were destined to meet in a past life?" I sneered.

What is a past life?

"It's just..." Suddenly realizing why I should explain to her, I forcefully shook her off and quickened my pace.

She quickly caught up with me and grabbed my arm, pestering me, "You still haven't told me what a past life is."

I was a little annoyed, so I replied casually, "It means that in addition to this life, there is also a previous life. People you met in your previous life may also meet in this life."

“Oh,” she smiled charmingly and gently, “then I believe we must have been destined to meet in a past life.”

I just wanted to slip away, so I mumbled "hmm" and tried to push her away again.

She stepped aside, but then hugged me from behind after I took a few steps. "I really do have a way to deal with the snow disaster, as long as you give me what I want."

"Tell me what method it is first."

"Cash on delivery."

I didn't say anything.
