Chapter 41 I never dreamed that, under my horrified gaze...
"What should we do?" I tugged at Bernot's sleeve, my words slurred with fear of the orc.
“Useless.” Bernard shook me off and shouted at the guards in front of the catapult, “Aim at the mercenary legion ahead and fire hard.”
Although it was a woman giving the order, her aura was astonishing, and with the lord right behind her, the guards dared not disobey.
The catapult was aimed again and fired—
boom!
Boom!
Hundreds of stones hurtled towards the rapidly advancing orc mercenary...
“Don’t be afraid,” Bernard appeared beside me again, embracing my back like a beloved concubine. “We will win.”
Unlike the "tyrant" who was blinded by beauty, I calmed down and asked, "Do you have a talisman that can help strange things recognize their own kind?"
I suddenly thought of a good idea.
"What do you mean?" Bernard pressed his face against my back.
I felt a little uncomfortable and tried to get away from him, but I couldn't; he held me even tighter.
"The meaning is very simple; it's a marker used to identify the enemy and our side."
"have."
“Teach me.” I turned around immediately, but forgot that I was very close to his face and almost touched his lips—in fact, I did.
The touch was as light as a dragonfly skimming the water, yet it had the burning sensation of an electric shock.
Even though I was touching my own lips and he was touching his, I could clearly feel a tingling sensation.
I immediately separated from him, and an indescribable smile played on his lips.
“Listen carefully,” he leaned closer to me, almost whispering in my ear, “…”
"What did you say?" The noise was too loud, and his voice was too soft for me to hear.
He suddenly bit my earlobe, his teeth gliding and moving lightly, repeating the action.
This time I heard his incantation clearly, but the tingling, itchy, and numb sensation coming from my thin earlobe made my face turn red.
His tongue and teeth were extremely skillful, gliding with both sound and teasing.
Don't mess with me—
If you look down on me, then don't bother me.
I jumped up and ran away, not caring about his expression, cursing as I ran, to get to the plan I had just thought of, my important business...
I rushed straight to the cesspool at the bottom of the castle. I took a deep breath, braved the cold, took off my cloak and robe, rolled up my trousers to my knees, and walked into the cesspool while holding onto the wall.
Although most of the sewage in the cesspool was pumped out to renovate the sewage pipes, the other half was still there.
I forced myself to stay awake and reached into the cesspool to grope around. A little while later, I had a handful of lush green grass, with many small black creatures clinging to its leaves and roots.
These are newly grown green grasses, with very fresh and tender stems and roots.
As I struggled to climb out of the cesspool, a voice with interest suddenly rang out behind me, "I finally remember who you are."
I turned around in surprise, and there stood Hoya, who was wrapped in a thick white fox fur cloak, about ten steps away from me.
What is she doing here? This woman is so strange.
“Really,” she laughed seductively, “when you’re covered in feces.”
I glared at her and was about to walk away when she called me back, "Don't forget our deal."
I turned around and said, "Cash on delivery."
Where is your goods?
"Wait a minute."
I walked forward, and she followed behind, always keeping a distance of ten steps.
"You stink," she complained as she walked away. "Why do you always smell so bad?"
I ignored her and quickened my pace, almost running, with her close behind.
The city gates were a scene of chaotic battle, with blood flowing like a river. I rushed toward the corpses lying on the ground, and after confirming that they were maids and servants of the castle, I quickly scattered green grass on the three bodies while silently reciting the incantation that Bernard had taught me.
During the fight, several people fought fiercely, stepping on the three corpses several times. I watched in fear from the bushes.
Hoya looked curiously at the three corpses beside me.
A few minutes later, there was finally some movement. The three corpses stirred, opened their eyes with a whoosh, and actually sat up halfway, swaying as they stood up—I had to cover my mouth tightly to keep from screaming—they had really turned into zombies.
“You always manage to surprise people,” Huo Ya teased.
I didn't have time to pay attention to her; I was focused on the three zombies bleeding from their seven orifices.
They pounced on the enemy soldiers in battle, tearing, biting, scratching, and kicking, quickly routing them.
I quickly tore off a corner of my garment, dipped a twig in some black ash from the ground to use as a pen, and wrote down what had just happened. After writing, I summoned a bird, tied it to its leg, whispered an incantation, and said, "Quickly deliver this to my chief mistress." The bird immediately spread its wings and flew away...
Bernard will surely act quickly, using the corpses of his own men to create zombies, and the zombie army will soon be able to fight the orc mercenaries, thus resolving the crisis.
“Come with me,” I called to Hoya.
Hoya gracefully stepped out of the bushes and said, "Come with me. I know which path leads safely to the underground farmland."
I was secretly surprised; she was incredibly clever and knew exactly what I was going to do next.
Hoya led me through the raging crowd towards a huge fountain stained with blood. I followed her and jumped into the fountain, and she led me through the outlet, swimming into a narrow waterway.
After swimming for five minutes, the path ahead suddenly opened up, and we climbed ashore, dripping wet, and entered a cave.
The cave was very bright, with a torch every few steps. When I reached the tenth torch, I was stunned—an endless underground farmland appeared before my eyes.
Sweet potatoes and potatoes are everywhere.
“There are packaged plant seeds there,” I said, my gaze falling on rows of large sacks in the corner of the cave. “Have someone move a hundred sacks. Now, tell me the secret of the natural disaster.”
Huo Ya smiled and said, "Okay, but first recite the incantation to dispel the defensive barrier."
Is there a barrier here? Well, if there wasn't, Hoya would have already moved the sack of burlap away, and might have even emptied this place.
I searched my mind for relevant incantations, and a few minutes later, a string of incantations appeared automatically.
After muttering a few words to himself, Hoya's eyes suddenly turned strange.
I stopped reading in surprise—why did her eyes look so familiar?
Hoya rushed to the center of the cave at lightning speed, muttering something I couldn't understand. With a few loud booms, I was horrified to see the cave ceiling above crack open piece by piece at an alarming speed, making a loud noise as pieces fell down.
Even more terrifying, the underground farmland also cracked and split into pieces, slowly rising from the cracks in the cave ceiling...
I was completely stunned.
Another section of the cave roof collapsed with a crash. Standing in the corner, I snapped awake with shock and shouted, "Hoya, where are the things you traded for? And we only agreed on one hundred bags."
Now she wants to take the entire farmland away!
Huo Ya burst into laughter, laughing so hard she almost fell over. Suddenly, she stretched out her hands, took off her clothes one by one, tore off her long hair, removed layers of fake skin, and took off the human skin mask from her face—a dazzlingly handsome man with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, a perfect figure, and eight-pack abs stood naked in front of me.
"My manure collector, you're still as stupid and dull as ever," the handsome man laughed loudly.
My mind went blank. This was completely beyond my comprehension; the alluring mistress was actually a man.
“If you want the secret of the natural disaster, come to my castle.” His laughter was melodious, and his eyes were mysterious. “I’ll be waiting for you.”
I snapped back to reality and screamed, "Tell me! Tell me this secret!"
"No." To my horror, he suddenly transformed into a giant, pure black bird and flew into the cracks in the fragmented farmland. "I won't tell you, otherwise you wouldn't have come."
Seeing all the farmland fly out and the birds flee, I suddenly felt cheated. I beat my chest, stamped my feet, and wailed until I couldn't catch my breath. Finally, I collapsed to the ground...
