Chapter 216 "Why did you kidnap me...?"

Chapter 216 "Why did you kidnap me...?"

I drifted off to sleep again. I was so tired, my head was foggy, and my eyelids were so heavy I couldn't keep them open.

I don't know how long I slept. I woke up once in the middle of the night, but I only felt the bed swaying and gently rocking, which was quite comfortable. I turned over and fell asleep again.

I finally woke up to find myself surrounded by unfamiliar surroundings. The wallpaper was simple, the tables and chairs were simple, and I was lying on a simple wooden bed.

I instantly snapped out of it, jumped out of bed, and as soon as I opened the door, I bumped into Hero, who was holding a blanket.

"Your Highness, you're awake! That's wonderful!" Hailuo hurriedly pulled me back to the bedside. "Stay closer. You've been unconscious for so long; you can't get out of bed right away."

"Where am I?" My head was still spinning.

"On Lord Mamboa's ship." Helo covered me with a blanket. "We'll be entering the North in a couple of days, and the wind will get chilly."

"How did it end up on his boat?" I rubbed my temples. This guy is such a handful.

"He said that you had fainted that day and needed to call a doctor. We hurriedly brought a doctor and a female physician, but he knocked one of the female physicians unconscious, disguised her as you lying on the bed, and then disguised you as the female physician. Several people helped you out, saying that one of the female physicians had fainted from seeing blood, and lied that you had hit your head on the table when you fell to the ground. Later, I don't know how he used it, but he got you a pass and successfully brought you onto the ship and left the Eastern Territory."

Hero made it sound so easy, but I know it wasn't easy to do. God knows how much manpower and resources Manberia put in behind the scenes.

"You and Aya came out together?" I asked again.

“Aya didn’t come out. Lord Manboya said he could only bring one out. Aya volunteered to stay in the old house, so I packed some things, disguised myself as a female doctor, and sneaked out.”

A gust of cold wind blew in, opening the boat window. Hero quickly closed it and went out to get me some food.

I immediately jumped out of bed, dragged out my suitcase from under the bed, found my yellowed piece of paper, and stuck it in my breast pocket. Hero was smart; he knew which things were important to me and put them all in my suitcase.

After a while, little Asmin rushed in and threw herself into my arms, with Mamboy following behind.

I only played and talked with Asmin for a while, completely ignoring Mamboya. Mamboya wasn't angry at all, and just looked at us with a smile.

After a while, I was clearly tired, and Mamboya took little Asmin out. I lay down on the bed and fell asleep again, and the day was over.

After several days of rest, my energy and strength gradually recovered. I asked Mamboya resentfully, "What kind of potent medicine did you give me?"

If he had only knocked you unconscious in the old nobleman's house, the aftereffects wouldn't have been so strong.

He looked apologetic. "The waves were high on the ship, and I was afraid you'd be frightened, so I gave you some calming medicine."

I looked at him with a half-smile, without saying a word.

The "big waves" he mentioned on the ship weren't actually big waves, but rather he meant the pursuers were hot. He also worried that if I woke up, I might cause trouble for him. To avoid being caught in the middle, he simply gave me a sleeping pill so I could stay asleep and focus all his energy on dealing with the pursuers.

The pursuers should have been eliminated by now, so he stopped giving me the sleeping pills, and I quickly regained consciousness.

"Does this medicine have any side effects?" I asked, pressing my head, which was still throbbing slightly.

"No, no," he quickly replied, "How could I dare to give you medicine with side effects?"

I didn't say anything, just pointed to the door and told him to go out. He actually obediently went out without uttering a sound.

The next day at noon, I was about to enter the North, and I even put on a slightly thicker coat, intending to see the scenery of the North as I entered through Haikou. Hailuo told me that this was a newly opened sea route in the North last year. In the past, I always entered the North by train.

But as soon as I stepped out of the cabin, the earth shook violently, and the entire ship seemed to have been hit by something. With a loud bang, it seemed to have been hit by cannon fire. I fell to the ground, and then I heard the sounds of fighting.

Countless drops of seawater gushed out from the pierced hull, as if countless heavenly soldiers and generals were descending from the sky. I was terrified and scrambled to escape to the other side.

I had only run a few steps when I ran into a group of masked men in black. I screamed and turned to run again, but one of the masked men rushed up and covered my mouth and nose with a scented handkerchief. I lost consciousness in just three or four seconds...

I slowly awoke to find myself on another ship.

I dared not utter a sound and collapsed in a corner of the bow. It was a small boat, only big enough for four or five people. Everyone except me was a masked man dressed in black.

They were burly and imposing, each one a large man, and they stared at me menacingly. I didn't dare to move an inch.

The boat was small and moved quickly across the sea. The masked men were very familiar with the area, and in just three or four hours, they sailed with the wind into a new area. I knew it was a new area because the water had changed color, from deep blue to deep green.

Not long after, I got sleepy and fell asleep leaning against the bow of the boat. When I woke up, the sea was pitch black, with only the oil lamp on the bow flickering like a will-o'-the-wisp.

I didn't know where I was, nor did I know who the masked man in black was, but I had calmed down and obediently sat to one side.

I was given two slices of dry bread, probably for dinner. After eating, I stared blankly at the dark sea.

After watching the sea for half the night, I fell asleep again. When I woke up again, it was just getting light, and the sea was still a vast expanse all around.

The sea had changed from dark green to deep red.

I was horrified, thinking that the Elf King had kidnapped me. If I were to enter the Elf Realm again, I didn't know if I could escape.

After a while, the small boat entered another green sea. This green was a clear, bright green, almost mint green, sparkling as if it could be seen clearly even in the depths of the sea.

Just then, a patch of purple and red flowers appeared, and the small boat began to move through it. My rapidly beating heart suddenly calmed down, and I realized who had kidnapped me.

As the ship passed through the flowerbeds and reached a blank stretch of sea, a warm southerly breeze blew across the water. The small boat sped towards the wind, which grew stronger and stronger, making it almost impossible for us to open our eyes. The boat nearly capsized, and as we frantically clung to the gunwale, a long, strange incantation was uttered by the tallest, masked man in black. After finishing, he pulled a gilded key from his robes and threw it into a whirlpool in the middle of the green sea. A deafening roar, like a tsunami, swept in, and a fierce storm of wind and waves crashed down. Just as I was about to cry out, I was swept into the whirlpool by this giant wave…

I slept for a long time, and I didn't want to wake up.

Perhaps I didn't want to wake up; I was sleeping very, very soundly.

I didn't wake up until a few fingers started scratching my face like they were tickling me.

A hearty, magnetic male laugh rang out, "I knew you were awake."

In the brilliant morning light, his short golden hair shone with a golden luster, and his golden eyes also shone with an eerie golden light.

"Daio!" I exclaimed, sitting up in surprise.

"You still remember me? That's good. I thought you had forgotten me long ago."

He has matured a lot since then. His once delicate features have become more sunken and deep, his light gold eyebrows have turned into dark gold, and the color of his pupils is much darker than before.

He's matured a lot; that was my first impression. Of course, many years have passed.

"What, you don't recognize me?" he asked with a teasing laugh.

"Oh, no." I quickly got out of bed and stood facing him. "You kidnapped me?"

"Do you even need to ask? You're still as naive as ever!" he laughed. "I don't understand how you managed to sleep with so many high-ranking men. How could they even be interested in you?"

I looked displeased, but he didn't care. He laughed and said, "No wonder you've been around for so many years and all you've managed to become is the wife of an exiled prince."

I stopped talking and sat down on the sofa chair next to me.

He laughed as he came over to me and sat down. "What's wrong? Are you angry already?"

"Why did you kidnap me?" I asked again.

He chuckled, "I don't want to say, but you'll find out eventually."

"What other reason could there be?" I said calmly. "You're short of money, aren't you?"

This should be my greatest value to them. I helped them find the hidden mines on the island, which made them incredibly wealthy. With that money, they recruited soldiers and fought several battles to defend the Elven Realm, successfully preserving their lineage. They also used their wealth to establish alliances with several countries, securing their external security.

They've never looked for me all these years, which means I'm of little use to them. Their sudden kidnapping of me must be related to money.

“Don’t put it so harshly,” Daio said, his brow furrowed. “You speak so rudely, it’s really not appealing to men.”

I laughed. "Why should I try to please men? Why don't men try to please me?"

Daio laughed too. "You're still as sharp-tongued as ever. Alright, that's enough. I just came to see you and, incidentally, invite you to the wedding tonight."

Before I could ask, he said directly, "It's not my wedding, it's my uncle's daughter's wedding." He added, "Oh, that is, your ex-husband, who is still related to you."

Attis's daughter? She's old enough to get married?

Seeing my surprised expression, he smiled again, "The one getting married is our eldest daughter. She's fourteen years old and has been menstruating for four years, so she can get married here."

At night, the island palace was brightly lit, the courtyard was filled with bonfires, and tables covered with white tablecloths were set up everywhere, laden with delicious food, the aroma of fine wine and food filling the air.

Lively music filled the lawn as brightly dressed girls sang and danced, surrounded by a group of tribespeople who cheered them on, creating an atmosphere that was almost heavenly.

I saw the bride. The cacophony of voices and loud music paused for a moment as she emerged, surrounded by a dozen or so elegantly dressed maids. She was the little girl I had seen once before, nestled in her father's arms; she had grown up now.

She was very tall, not like a fourteen-year-old girl, but more like an eighteen-year-old, at least a head taller than me.

The music started again, and the people suddenly cheered. Artis, dressed in a magnificent red robe, appeared. He first looked at me, smiled slightly at me, and then walked towards his bride daughter.

He looked much more haggard than when I last saw him. Although his long, dark gray hair was tied back and he looked smart and capable, his overall energy and spirit seemed to have declined.

It seems they really are in trouble.
