"I finished all my work ahead of time, so I came home early." Xiao Qifeng poured two glasses of water. He finished one in the kitchen and walked over to Lu Wanzheng, handing her the other glass. "You've slept for so long, have some water."
Lu Wanzheng held the cup, took a sip, and felt the dryness in her throat disappear instantly.
"It's definitely better to be a boss. Once the work is done, you can leave whenever you want."
"What are you thinking? I usually leave work with my employees, but I thought we were going out to eat and buy some things today, so I came back a little earlier."
Lu Wanzheng slapped her forehead. How could she have forgotten about this? She had slept for too long. Xiao Qifeng was already back, and she hadn't even put on makeup yet. How could she go out like this?
She touched her hair, which was a little messy.
"Sit down for a bit, I'll go do my makeup and comb my hair." Without waiting for Xiao Qifeng's response, she jumped up from the sofa and rushed into the room.
Xiao Qifeng found Lu Wanzheng's clumsy and impulsive manner quite adorable.
Lu Wanzheng first straightened her hair in the bathroom. Feeling uncomfortable with her hair down, she tied it into a bun, leaving a few strands of hair hanging down on either side. She then took out her curling iron and curled the hair on both sides, instantly making her look playful and cute.
Then she went back to the dressing room, put her face close to the mirror, and looked at herself applying makeup up close, still with the same look as in the morning.
Because it was a light makeup look, it didn't take long; she finished her makeup in five or six minutes.
To avoid opening the wrong cabinet, she checked all the cabinets and drawers in the walk-in closet this morning. She found several limited-edition bags in one of the cabinets, thinking that Xiao Qifeng must have prepared them for her. However, she wasn't too obsessed with bags, so she picked out a small khaki bag, just big enough to hold her phone and a few cosmetics.
She picked up her bag and walked out of the room. "I'm all set, I can go now."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Qifeng looked up, stunned by her beauty. A multitude of idioms instantly came to mind to describe her: graceful and elegant, captivatingly beautiful…
He thought he would have to wait a long time, since the internet says that girls should spend at least half an hour getting ready before going out.
Lu Wanzheng walked towards the door, then turned around and saw Xiao Qifeng standing there dumbfounded.
What's wrong?
She lowered her head and changed into a pair of sandals with a moderate heel. When she looked up again, Xiao Qifeng was already standing beside her.
She was taken aback because she hadn't expected Xiao Qifeng to come so suddenly.
In that brief moment of hesitation, Xiao Qifeng reached out and took Lu Wanzheng's hand, their fingers intertwined. "This outfit looks great on you." He quickly put on the shoes he had just taken off and led Lu Wanzheng out the door.
Lu Wanzheng wouldn't ask questions like "Was I not pretty before?" Such an old and cliché question was too embarrassing for her to ask, especially since someone was praising her beauty, and it was someone she liked. Saying such a thing in this situation would be the most disappointing. She replied, "Mr. Xiao is more and more handsome in my heart every day."
"Miss Lu is the same."
The two stepped into the elevator, looked at each other, and smiled.
The cold white light in the elevator enveloped the two of them, creating an atmosphere of holiness and purity.
