Xiao Qifeng held Lu Wanzheng quietly, neither of them moving, and the bedroom returned to its original tranquility.
After a long while, Lu Wanzheng poked her head out and asked, "Are you feeling better?"
She had just felt something hot against the front of her thigh. They were both adults, and she knew what that meant.
That doesn't mean she wasn't shy. She was a normal girl, and it was the first time she had encountered something like this, so naturally she was too scared to say anything.
"Yes, don't be afraid."
The stray hairs on Xiao Qifeng's forehead brushed against her smooth forehead, tickling her.
"I won't do anything out of line without your permission, but I'd like to sleep with you in my arms until then, is that okay? Let's not sleep in separate rooms."
“No, that won’t do.” Lu Wanzheng looked up into his eyes, where she could see a tiny reflection of herself. “If I go out to work, you’ll have to sleep alone at night. But when I’m home, we won’t sleep in separate rooms.”
These words were undoubtedly a pleasant surprise for Xiao Qifeng.
He chuckled softly, "You said it, you can't go back on your word."
"I don't regret it. During the time I was away working, although I could video chat with you every day, it still didn't feel as good as seeing you in person. I miss you so much, so I think we really should get closer."
Lu Wanzheng held Xiao Qifeng in her arms and whispered in his ear about her longing for him.
Xiao Qifeng nodded in satisfaction, "I miss you too. When you become famous, we'll take on fewer jobs so you can spend more time with me, okay?"
“Okay, once I become famous, I’ll go out less and spend more time by your side, and I’ll give you a proper title, how about that?” Lu Wanzheng’s eyes sparkled; she was already fantasizing about her life after she stopped working.
They'll probably live like any ordinary couple. She could open a small shop, like a coffee shop or dessert shop, and be a hands-off owner, occasionally cooking lunch and delivering it to Mr. Xiao so they can have lunch together. After lunch, they might go out for a stroll or watch a movie at home.
Such days must be wonderful and blissful.
Xiao Qifeng gave a soft "hmm," then thought for a moment and said, "I have something to tell you, don't be angry."
He wanted to confess what happened last night; he couldn't bring himself to deceive the girl who loved him so deeply.
But he was worried that she would be angry, so he mustered up his courage before he dared to speak.
Lu Wanzheng looked up in confusion, "What is it? As long as it's not that you don't like me anymore, I won't be angry."
Compared to the others, this was the one she found most unacceptable.
"I've always liked you. What I want to talk about is what happened last night." Xiao Qifeng paused, thinking about how to say it in a way that would lessen Lu Wanzheng's anger towards him.
"Last night?" Lu Wanzheng murmured.
She remembered that Mr. Xiao slept very quietly last night, without making any unwanted advances; everything was perfectly normal.
Xiao Qifeng looked at her with his deep eyes, "I lied to you about Potato wetting the bed last night," he said, his voice growing softer and softer as he spoke, and he didn't even dare to look Lu Wanzheng in the eye.
"Oh, you mean this? Actually, I guessed you were lying to me. Potato is such a well-behaved dog, it wouldn't do something so rude. Besides, it doesn't have the habit of getting up at night. It slept with me for so long before, and I never saw it pee on my bed."
Lu Wanzheng thought it was something serious, but it turned out to be just a small matter. When she saw Xiao Qifeng's expression of being ready to die, her heart clenched, thinking that he had really done something to wrong her.
