Xu Jingxing gazed intently at Xiao Qifeng, who stood languidly at the door, and saw the meaning in his eyes, knowing what his knock had meant to the two people inside.
The room was very dark, giving it a stuffy, airtight feel.
"It's broad daylight, the sun's already high in the sky, why are you still lying in bed? It's Friday, don't you have to go to work? How are you going to support Wanzheng if you don't go to work?"
Xu Jingxing looked at Xiao Qifeng with amusement, waiting for his reaction.
"Hmm, the little girl's mood was a bit different this morning. I comforted her a bit. I'm going to change my clothes. Uncle, you can sit in the living room for a while and wait for me to make breakfast."
Xiao Qifeng didn't say it explicitly, but what he said wasn't wrong. Lu Wanzheng's sudden confession and kiss this morning were definitely different from usual.
He hugged and kissed her, which was just to coax her.
"Alright, go ahead."
Xu Jingxing knew that his niece liked to sleep in late and wouldn't get out of bed before nine o'clock when she wasn't working or had free time, so he didn't urge her to get up.
Xu Jingxing turned and went to the living room. Potato was already awake. Looking at the unfamiliar man, it just meowed softly at him and hid in its cat bed, too scared to go out.
Xu Jingxing saw the cat food under the coffee table. Bored, he poured some cat food into Tudou's cat bowl.
Potato looked at the amount of cat food, which was less than half of what it usually was, and for a moment she didn't know whether to go over and eat it, or to look down on the man who was feeding her. Didn't he know she was growing? Giving her so little was practically starving her.
Potato stuck out its pink tongue, licked its lips, and weakly called out to Xu Jingxing, letting him feel its weakness.
Xu Jingxing seemed to understand Tudou's intention, so he put some more cat food into the cat's bowl.
When Potato saw a bowl full of cat food, it didn't care whether the man in front of it was a stranger or not. It ran straight to the cat bowl and buried its head in the food.
Seeing that the potato was eating with relish, Xu Jingxing squatted down and stroked its grayish-brown head, the corners of his mouth curving up without him even realizing it.
After exchanging a few words with Xu Jingxing at the door, Xiao Qifeng went into the restroom.
Lu Wanzheng peeked out from under the covers and stared blankly as Xiao Qifeng walked past the bed. Only after he went into the bathroom did she stretch her hands out from under the covers, yawn, and loosen her muscles.
She didn't linger in bed today; she quickly got up, drew back the curtains, and let the whole room be bathed in sunlight.
As she passed the restroom, she heard the sound of running water, but it stopped quickly. Lu Wanzheng pretended not to hear it, and, keeping track of the time, went into the walk-in closet, considering what she should wear today.
After much deliberation, she decided to wear a pink shirt and a pair of pencil pants.
After washing up, Xiao Qifeng went into the dressing room to change out of his pajamas. As he entered, Lu Wanzheng had just buttoned up her shirt.
Hearing a noise at the door, she panicked and quickly looked up to see who had come in. When she saw it was Xiao Qifeng, her eyes were a little dazed. Had he finished washing up so quickly? It seemed she had taken too long to choose her clothes.
Xiao Qifeng approached Lu Wanzheng, who was standing in front of a full-length mirror. He lowered his head, reached out and lifted Lu Wanzheng's hand, helping her fasten the clasp on her wrist. "The other one."
"Oh." Lu Wanzheng lowered her left hand and raised her right hand. She looked at Xiao Qifeng. The man's eyelids drooped, his distinct eyelashes trembled slightly, and a small silhouette was reflected on his face.
