Chapter 21 Disdain

The driver safely delivered Yan Qianxiao to the Yan family home, and then fled the car as if chased by a vengeful ghost.

Whether it was psychological or not, the driver felt that he had an indescribable smell on him, a smell that lingered in his nose for a long time.

Yan Qianxiao stumbled out of the car, drunk. When the Yan family's nanny saw Yan Qianxiao in this state, she quickly went forward to help him.

When she smelled his scent, she hesitated and dared not go any closer.

In the end, he could only offer Yan Qianxiao a token support and follow him into the inner room.

Mr. Yan was pacing anxiously in the living room. Today, the stock market closed, and the Yan family's stock had fallen to its lowest point. The shareholders all expressed their intention to withdraw their investment.

It was obvious that someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes, but no matter how much he inquired, he couldn't find out who was behind it. He could only conclude that they couldn't afford to offend this person.

As for the cause of this matter, his secretary had already told him about the things that happened online today, and it was probably related to Lu Wanzheng.

But how could a mere orphan like her possibly challenge the Yan family? There must be someone helping her behind the scenes.

The best way to resolve this matter is to return what Lu Wanzheng wanted.

So as soon as Yan's father returned home, he discussed this matter with Yan's mother.

But Yan's mother stubbornly refused to return the bracelet.

The two remained locked in a stalemate in the living room.

Seeing Yan Qianxiao looking disheveled, Yan's mother rushed over with heartache, "Xiao'er, what happened to you?"

“Mom,” “Ouch!” Every word he uttered aggravated the wound on the corner of his mouth, and Yan Qianxiao was on the verge of tears. “When I came out of the bar, a group of people put a sack over my head and beat me up. I heard the people who beat me mention Lu Wanzheng. That’s right, it was that bitch Lu Wanzheng who hired people to beat me up. She gave us three days to return the things, or she would bankrupt us.”

Yan Qianxiao poured out her grievances to her parents, telling them everything in detail.

“How could our Yan family just go bankrupt like that? Dad, let’s go and arrest Lu Wanzheng right away.”

Upon hearing this, Yan's mother glanced at Yan's father, hesitated, and finally shook her head.

With a furrowed brow, Yan's father said to Yan Qianxiao, "Our family's stocks have been falling, and we'll be bankrupt in less than three days." He then turned to Yan's mother and said, "I told you long ago to return the things. Now look what happened, we're going to lose the money, and our son got a beating."

"But... this bracelet is worth at least fifty million. I've worn it to quite a few banquets before, and many wealthy ladies have envied me when they saw it."

Over time, even things that weren't originally hers began to feel like they were hers. So when she was suddenly asked to return them, she was extremely unwilling.

"Bankruptcy or the bracelet, you choose."

The entire room fell silent.

The little devil in Yan's mother's heart kept fighting in her mind: if they went bankrupt, they would have no house to live in. In order to eat and stay, they would still have to sell the bracelet to make ends meet. At least by paying off the bracelet, the family would not go bankrupt.

After much deliberation, Yan's mother finally made up her mind and returned the bracelet.

Her heart ached as if it were being stabbed, and it bled.

After discussing it, the three of them had Yan's father return the items to Lu Wanzheng.

"Xiao'er, go back to your room and wash up. After you're done, tell Aunt Zhang to apply the medicine for you." Even though he was her own son, Yan's mother looked at him with a hint of disgust. She couldn't stand the sour smell anymore.

The next day, Yan's father contacted Lu Wanzheng early in the morning and returned the bracelet.

Having finally gotten back the bracelet she had been longing for, Lu Wanzheng breathed a sigh of relief.

Since she already had a piece of jewelry, it wasn't convenient for her to wear such an expensive item, so she put the bracelet into the nanmu box that she had previously used to store bracelets.

The size is just right.

She quickly posted on Weibo.
