"Holy crap, this is a ghost!"
Madison's barely audible curse echoed clearly in the quiet kitchen; anyone inside would have heard it.
Unfortunately, everyone else has gone down to the front of the restaurant, including the restaurant owners who said they would cook something delicious for them that evening.
When Madison came out of the kitchen, he saw Charlie and his group sitting at the only large round table in the front hall, playing cards.
The card players were Lu Xiaoyao, Wang Wenfei, Leng Youyou, and Mingmei.
The cards reveal that it's Mu Chen and Charlie.
Julian and Hu Yue are not here now.
Charlie and Madison exchanged a glance. Looking into Madison's dark eyes, Charlie naturally understood that what he had seen when he sneaked into the kitchen was probably what Lu Xiaoyao and the others had just described—a thriving vegetable garden that looked like it was growing well.
Charlie was sitting behind Leng Youyou, and opposite Leng Youyou was Lu Xiaoyao. When Lu Xiaoyao looked up, she could clearly see the expressions on the faces of both Leng Youyou and Charlie.
Not only did she see it, but all the viewers in Lu Xiaoyao's live stream saw it clearly.
[What is that guy behind that pretty girl looking at?]
[Is he looking in the direction of the NPC?]
[Seriously? Giving an NPC a meaningful look? No, no, that's not right.]
Isn't he looking towards the kitchen? Is he already itching to eat?
The viewers in the live stream could see clearly that when Mingmei looked up, she naturally noticed Charlie sitting diagonally opposite her.
Before Mingmei could turn around to confirm anything, Mu Chen turned around first and looked at Madison standing outside the bar. He asked gently, "What's wrong? Are you in a hurry to have dinner? I'll go prepare it now."
"No... I just wanted to see what other dishes were left..."
Madison had nothing to hide about being discovered; after all, everyone else had gone before, so it wasn't a big deal for him to see it now.
Thinking this, he glanced again at the bright figure with her back to him, seemingly really trying to play cards, and felt somewhat relieved.
He thought he would still feel guilty and scared if the other person suddenly turned around and said these words.
Fortunately, the mysterious merchant returned.
It has to be said that all players in this game have a very strong positive view of the Mysterious Merchant NPC.
At least they felt that the mysterious merchant was on their side.
"A decisive blow."
Mingmei's excited voice came from the card table, drawing everyone's attention back to it.
Mingmei then played all the cards in her hand.
The others had at least a few cards left, but Lu Xiaoyao had the most. Just looking at her gleaming hand of cards, you could tell how badly she was in trouble.
She hardly ever had a chance to play a card!
[I can attest to this: my kid's luck is truly terrible. Her hand isn't actually bad, but every time it's her turn, she can't play the card the boss plays. It always hits right at the maximum number of cards she can play.]
My son looks just like me when he plays cards.
No, I think the other players who only have two or three cards left are even more disgusted than the little one, right?
That's right, at the beginning the boss hadn't even played many cards, but the other two players were playing surprisingly smoothly, and as a result... they failed at the last minute!
The viewers in the live chat have gradually changed their address for Mingmei from "Miss Merchant" to "Boss". There's no way around it, because Mingmei's performance in this game, whether in terms of her acting or other aspects, doesn't live up to the image of the mysterious merchant that everyone has seen before.
"Wow! How come you guys can all play your cards so efficiently?"
Lu Xiaoyao complained as she threw away her hand of cards, which even the onlookers couldn't stand.
"If we calculate it correctly, we can get the answer, right?"
Wang Wenfei looked towards Lu Xiaoyao, and her words were echoed by the other two card players.
Soon everyone noticed Lu Xiaoyao's bewildered expression, and Mingmei, seeing this, asked incredulously, "You...does playing cards count? Cards?"
"Can it be calculated?"
Mingmei: "..."
Others: "..."
Why can't I figure it out?
They were at a loss for how to explain this to Lu Xiaoyao.
Does this even need an explanation?
"Playing cards is all about psychological warfare. I don't know your hand, and you don't know mine, right?" The key point is that Lu Xiaoyao said it with complete confidence: "That's what makes it exciting! What's the point if you can figure everything out?"
"Of course it's fun! It's about testing each other's cards, outsmarting and deceiving each other—that's what makes it fun!"
Leng Youyou was amused by Lu Xiaoyao's words.
“The number of cards on the table is fixed. Wang Wenfei and I have both played our cards, leaving only the cards in your and the boss's hands. Just by looking at the cards we played and combining that with your own, you can pretty much deduce the boss's hand. Similarly, the boss can naturally infer your hand from the cards we played…”
After saying that, Leng Youyou glanced at Mingmei, who seemed to agree, and then fell silent.
Well, the boss is a smart man, but Lu Xiaoyao... Leng Youyou almost blurted out "It's because you're useless" and stuck it on Lu Xiaoyao's head.
The atmosphere was lively as the group played cards, so Mu Chen said goodbye and went to the kitchen to cook.
As candles were lit downstairs in the evening, Julian and Hu Yue, who had gone upstairs to rest earlier because they were tired, also rushed down for dinner.
