As usual, Lu Xiaoyao and her group entered the backyard through the kitchen. As soon as they entered the kitchen, Lu Xiaoyao saw food being cooked on the stove, and the air was filled with the aroma of food.
Even if they have mentally prepared themselves countless times, it's all fake.
But the fragrance at the tip of my nose was still so enticing.
"Is this food real or fake? The more I smell it, the more real it seems."
After Lu Xiaoyao finished speaking, she received a speechless expression from her companion.
"You had a vegetable and tofu boxed lunch for lunch, not to mention a stir-fried pork with green peppers. It's really illogical that you're craving it now."
After Julian finished speaking, he glanced at the food simmering on the stove, then looked thoughtfully at Mu Chen, who was sitting outside the door with his back to them. Suddenly, he put his hand to his lips and made a quiet gesture to his companion.
Then he tiptoed to the stove and opened it. Inside, he could see stewed cabbage and pork. He then took a small bowl and ladled some out.
"What are you doing...?"
"Shhh."
Julian didn't say anything directly. He opened the door, put on his umbrella, and went out. Hu Yue seemed to understand something and whispered in Lu Xiaoyao's ear, "He wants to see what's cooking in that bowl."
After saying that, she followed Julian, holding an umbrella and leading Lu Xiaoyao. Standing at the doorway that he had violently demolished the previous night, Julian looked back upstairs, where Charlie was signaling with brightly colored fabric.
Everything is normal.
"Wow, where did they get those umbrellas? They're really eye-catching."
Seeing Julian and the other two each holding a large red umbrella, Charlie asked curiously.
"What?"
The other two girls came over and also noticed the three bright red umbrellas. They were certain that these were not the ones they had brought themselves.
"It blocks my view so much, I can't see who's under the umbrella anymore, I can only tell by their legs."
Leng Youyou was somewhat dissatisfied with the players who had received new equipment. They had gone out in the rain last night, so why did they suddenly have red umbrellas during the day?
“This umbrella…” Wang Wenfei frowned as she looked at it, “It obstructs vision and hearing, it looks nice but is useless!”
I wonder what the three people upstairs were thinking. The moment the three people below stepped into the vegetable garden, the surroundings were still desolate, but there was no eeriness of the night.
Apart from the muddy water, there was nothing on the ground that could sting one's eyes.
Julian glanced at the stew he had just been holding—a bowl of clean water.
Contrary to their expectations, there was no disgusting or filthy scene; it was simply a bowl of water.
If the food they ate before was like this, then it's understandable why they weren't full from the food at the restaurant.
Who can get full just by drinking water?
"Really, Madison!"
Lu Xiaoyao, carrying an umbrella, pointed to a white, transparent figure not far away and reported her new discovery to everyone.
"real."
The three of them walked up to Madison, who was in a ghostly state, and saw that he was unmoved by their presence, which made them sigh inwardly.
As expected, Madison, the player, had already logged off. What remained here was not a player, but rather—"Why did such a ghost appear?"
Julian was very alert. He turned around abruptly and looked around, only to find that the surroundings were flat and empty, with no one around.
"Maybe it was left behind to guide some clue?" After guessing, Lu Xiaoyao continued to stare at Madison, and couldn't help but call out, "Madison?"
Upon hearing Lu Xiaoyao's shout, the ghostly Madison suddenly raised his hand, his almost transparent arm pointing to the collapsed corner of the vegetable garden.
They looked in that direction and saw a collapsed fence.
"Let's go take a look."
Without further ado, the three of them carefully made their way to a corner of the vegetable garden, which happened to be in Charlie's blind spot...
"Holy crap! What are they doing?"
Charlie watched as the three figures holding red umbrellas gradually disappeared from his sight.
“There are footprints here, and they seem to be pointing towards the woods next to the hotel…”
The crowd looked at the deep footprints near the collapsed fence. The footprints on the ground were now filled with rainwater, and some of them had become increasingly blurred by the rain.
"Should we track them down?"
Lu Xiaoyao looked at Julian and Hu Yue and saw that the two of them had already taken out their daggers. They looked up and stared intently at the direction the footprints extended, as if they were tacitly agreeing with Lu Xiaoyao's question.
"Shouldn't we notify the people upstairs?"
Lu Xiaoyao could tell that the two of them were eager to try and were ready to step over the collapsed fence.
As she turned around, holding her umbrella, she discovered that the wall surrounding the hotel's backyard, including the kitchen, blocked their view of the second floor and severed their connection.
"Let's notify them."
Julian believed he was still clear-headed enough to do so. He turned to look at Lu Xiaoyao, clearly wanting her to go and inform her that he and Hu Yue would go ahead first.
"Then...then if you chase after them, don't go too deep for now, the woods over there are quite dark...wait for me to come back."
Lu Xiaoyao's animalistic survival instincts made her feel a strong sense of unease as she looked at the almost continuous dark green forest not far away.
"We know that we should watch to see if the footprints really disappear into the dense forest, and not go in."
Hu Yue agreed, and Lu Xiaoyao nodded in relief. She quickly returned the way she came, reminding Hu Yue before leaving, "I'll come find you after I notify you, so don't go in!"
After watching Lu Xiaoyao leave safely, Julian and Hu Yue exchanged a glance and then left the vegetable garden together, following the footprints towards the vicinity of the dense forest.
