Mu Chen fell in love online.
Regarding what Lu Gui said, Mingmei could only give an awkward smile and didn't know what expression to make.
She probably already understood who Mu Chen's online love interest was, as Lu Gui had mentioned.
It's nothing more than a "I cheated on myself" drama, isn't it?
She often saw CP mashups of herself and Mu Chen on the StarNet, some of which actually included stand-in tropes, and even four-way love affairs with Mu Chen playing the BOSS, and mutual stand-ins.
She's gotten used to it.
But how could she explain this to Lu Gui?
Therefore, Mingmei's awkward smile and silence had a different meaning in Lu Gui's eyes.
"If you don't want to laugh, then don't laugh. Cry instead." As he spoke, he handed the tissues in his arms to Mingmei.
Mingmei: "...?" www.cascoo.net
There's no need for that.
"Me and Achen... well, he's having an online relationship, I know."
After thinking for a while, Mingmei decided to make up a reason on the spot.
You know?
"Hmm." Mingmei nodded. "Isn't it the mysterious businesswoman? I know her."
"Can you accept that?"
"His kindness towards the businesswoman is simply because she looks like me; that's why he treats her differently."
Mingmei decided to stick with the stand-in trope, saying that even though the trick was old, it was still useful.
"He was incredibly kind to her in the game, and..." Lu Gui became even angrier at this point, "The merchant lady is a wonderful NPC, she shouldn't have met such a scumbag!"
Mingmei: "..."
So, is Lu Gui feeling sorry for himself or for the businesswoman?
Oops, no, either way, it's all about feeling sorry for her.
"If you truly like someone, you won't be interested in a substitute. If he really likes you, would he still have his eyes on someone else? No matter how many reasons there are, it's not right."
Lu Gui said to Mingmei very seriously, "You're still young, don't be easily fooled."
Mingmei: "Uh..."
How come it's getting more and more serious?
"Lu Gui, I know you mean well, but only the parties involved truly understand matters of the heart."
To prevent Lu Gui from continuing to persuade her to "see" Mu Chen's true colors, Mingmei looked at Lu Gui with feigned deep affection, sighed, and said, "You're still single, you wouldn't understand~"
Lugui:? ? ?
Good heavens?
I tried to reason with you, and you actually mocked me for being single?
"Meimei, I'm here~"
Just as Lu Gui was speechless with anger at Mingmei, Mu Chen arrived.
When Mu Chen entered the lounge, he saw Lu Gui sitting there, glaring at him with an ugly face.
Immediately, Mu Chen's warm, spring-like smile faded somewhat.
"Lu Gui, you're here too."
"Yes, I came with my sister."
Mu Chen felt that Lu Gui was in a bad mood.
But what does this have to do with him?
If Lu Gui was truly unhappy, Mu Chen felt his lips could curl into a slight smile.
Mu Chen took Mingmei's hand and led her away. After leaving the counseling room, Mingmei planned to tell Mu Chen what had just happened.
Because the whole thing was such a farce, at Mingmei's insistence, Mu Chen led her to a secluded path on the school grounds.
Seeing that there were only a few streetlights around and no one was around, Mingmei felt relieved and told them what had happened.
"It's all your fault, you made people misunderstand~"
Mingmei felt even more embarrassed when she thought of Lu Gui's earnest concern.
I feel like I've become someone who's obsessed with love in other people's eyes, like I've fallen for a jerk without a second thought.
"He's the one who talks behind people's backs for no reason..."
Mu Chen clearly sensed that Lu Gui was targeting him for Ming Mei's sake, and this targeting was quite obvious.
If he hadn't sensed that there was no romantic feeling in Lu Gui's eyes when he looked at Mingmei, would he still be letting Lu Gui hang around Mingmei like this?
Now look what's happened, they're even trying to sow discord and speak ill of me?
"He meant well. Besides, you didn't actually do that, so what are you afraid of?"
"I'm not afraid... I'm just... I'm worried that if someone else says something provocative in the future, even if it's for your own good, what if you believe them?"
"I don't want you to misunderstand me because of what others say. If you want to know, you can ask me directly." Mu Chen stood in front of Ming Mei, and as he spoke, his tone became aggrieved, as if the anxiety and fear in his heart were being magnified infinitely.
Mu Chen rested his head on Mingmei's shoulder and whispered, "You know I would never lie to you."
"But you won't tell me?"
"If you keep asking me, I'll tell you..."
Mu Chen's sudden emo left Mingmei somewhat at a loss; she hadn't expected Mu Chen to be so sensitive all of a sudden.
Are you really that worried that you might misunderstand him?
"Okay, I understand. Don't worry~"
Mingmei reached out and gently patted Mu Chen's back, as if coaxing a child, with a soft and soothing touch.
The two stood under a streetlamp, remaining in that position until they heard footsteps around them. Only then did Mingmei shyly push Mu Chen away, glare at him, and ask, "Are you done yet?"
"No..." Mu Chen stared at Mingmei's blushing face and shamelessly said, "We still have to have dinner together."
"Okay~" Mingmei glanced at the other person helplessly, then reached out and grabbed Mu Chen's hand, leading him towards the cafeteria.
The two walked from the sparsely populated area to a more crowded one, and Mingmei held onto Mu Chen's hand the whole time, never letting go.
