The story of "The Ghostly Marriage" is based on a folk legend from the ancient planet Blue.
It tells the story of a young lady from the Bai family in a small town who returned from studying abroad and started to rebel against an arranged marriage.
It involves a lot of legendary metaphysical knowledge. Not to mention the people of interstellar space, even the people of Hualan Star, who are most related to the ancient Blue Star, are only half-knowledgeable about these things!
Is this kind of escape game set up in a beginner's village?
Mingmei smiled without saying a word. As she walked through the town in the Jiangnan water town, looking at many sights she had never seen before, she slowly began to piece together the plot of what was to come.
Miss Bai had a big argument with her parents and decided to personally go to their home to break off the engagement.
Miss Bai met her fiancé, Young Master Zhang, directly upon arriving at the house. He told her that he had someone he liked and was happy to break off the engagement, but because Old Master Zhang was seriously ill, he begged Miss Bai not to reveal it now.
As dusk fell and a downpour began, the ailing Mr. Zhang rose to invite Miss Bai, his future daughter-in-law, to stay the night and have dinner with him. During this time, Miss Bai met an art teacher who was staying at the Zhang family's residence and had come to gather inspiration, along with two of his students, and... a young feng shui master.
[The player "Achung [Feng Shui Master]" who was always hungry has died.]
Suddenly, Mingmei, who was reminiscing about the game's storyline, received a message from the backend.
"ha?"
She hasn't found this player yet!
The whole story hasn't even started yet, how come someone's already dead?
Mingmei was stunned. This message was sent to her personally by her system, Guigui, not by the game system announcement.
In other words, only she knew this news, but the other four players present were unaware of it.
Standing by the river, Mingmei gazed at the pool of clear water. Through the reflection, she saw that her already cold face now appeared even more frosty.
Killing her clients is like killing her parents.
Good results, gone!
Who did it?
That fierce, teeth-gritting intensity startled even the system ghost.
[This player wanted to scout out the Zhang family's location before the main story even started. But then the game updated, and all the NPCs are now intelligent. Imagine you're running around in front of the big boss—how would you feel?]
"I don't want to know what I think, I just want to know what the big boss thinks."
[Well... the big boss thought it wasn't working, so he just skinned the opposing player alive and buried him in his own backyard.]
"Oh, it's alright then." The bright and cheerful girl who had just been determined to get revenge and was full of vigor suddenly wilted.
She was just an innocent, mysterious businesswoman.
She couldn't afford to mess with the NPC "colleague" who could literally rip players out of their bodies.
This intelligent NPC is a bit wild.
"Oh? You're here... Let's go to the Zhang residence."
Just as Mingmei was standing by the pool in a daze, the teachers and students encountered her again and invited her to join them.
"Ah... I... I don't need to go right now, I still have a mission."
Mingmei opened her mouth, unsure of what to say, and instinctively declined the other person's offer.
Hearing Mingmei mention there was still a "mission," the three nodded in understanding, waved to her, and said, "Alright then, we'll wait for you at the Zhang residence~"
"good."
Out of politeness, Mingmei agreed and watched the three leave before standing by the river in a daze.
She can't possibly not sell a single boxed lunch on her first day of work, can she?
Seriously? As a human playing an NPC, her execution ability is probably not as good as a bunch of NPCs created from data?
This is such a disgrace to humanity!
Mingmei was struggling with her thoughts. Although the players' life or death didn't really concern her, she couldn't just let them die without being able to sell a single boxed lunch, could she?
The AI NPCs dare to kill the players before the game's storyline even officially begins, so is she just going to sit here and wait?!
[Host, what are you going to do?]
The game character's auxiliary system, Guigui, suddenly sensed strong brainwaves from Mingmei.
"I'm wondering if I can force a sale."
[...]
That's a really creative idea, don't think of that again next time!
[I think you'd better face reality, host. Look at your tradable partners right now; aren't they all grayed out and banned from trading because they refused to trade with you? And look at the countdown timers above their heads.]
Gui Gui thoughtfully helped Ming Mei, this old-fashioned person, avoid seeing the scene she should have seen, especially the last tradable player who immediately went offline and turned black.
That's...outrageous!
"So, do I really have to go to the Zhang residence to sell boxed lunches?"
Thinking about the plot she knew, Mingmei herself was terrified; she really didn't want to go in.
But if they really don't go in, do you really think the remaining NPCs, who have already lost a player at the start, can survive tonight and reach the final stage of Dawn?
[Besides, the key player who truly guided them through the night and ensured they could survive until dawn the next day—the feng shui master—is gone. The odds of winning...tsk tsk tsk!]
With Guigui already pointing this out, how could Mingmei possibly be unaware?
This is hardly asking her to force herself to sell boxed lunches.
Does this mean she has to follow the player's death storyline?
Thinking of this, Mingmei glanced at her reflection in the water, a cold smile playing on her lips, and said, "So, what kind of newbie village is this? Are you trying to fool me, or the players?"
