She bent over, looking down, and saw a pair of feet wearing leather shoes and a dress standing outside the door.
Looking up, Lu Xiaoyao saw a little girl standing outside the door, holding a teddy bear that was almost as tall as herself.
The two women, one bent over but looking up, the other standing straight but tilting her head with a confused expression.
It's as if we all saw the same sentence in each other's eyes—Who is this?
"Sister, could you open the door?"
The little girl smiled sweetly at Lu Xiaoyao, who then came to her senses, stood up straight, looked behind the little girl, and even shone a flashlight around to make sure there was no one there before opening the door and pulling the little girl inside.
Before the little girl could leave, Lu Xiaoyao pulled her around, looking her up and down, and asked, "Why are you all alone in this desolate place so late at night? Where are your family?"
"They were dancing inside the house, and I was bored, so I sneaked out."
"So you came here with your family, but you secretly ran away?"
Lu Xiaoyao looked at the little girl in front of her, who was wearing a wine-red silk satin dress with white lace trim and little leather shoes.
Her slightly wavy, golden-brown hair, styled into twin ponytails adorned with two bows, made her look like a human doll.
"There are deep forests outside, and there might be wild animals around! You must never go out again."
Lu Xiaoyao couldn't resist gently stroking her youngest daughter's pert nose with her hand, and then asked, "Where are your parents? I'll take you there."
"No need," the little girl shook her head repeatedly, hugging the large teddy bear that was a bit too heavy for her, and said, "I can walk by myself."
As she spoke, the little girl hugged the big bear, her big, watery blue eyes looking at Lu Xiaoyao again, and asked in a childish voice, "Big sister, please don't tell my dad, okay?"
