As the pastries dwindled, the ghosts at the back of the line grew anxious.
Immediately, an impatient ghost asked urgently, "Boss Qin, how much is left? It looks like it's getting less and less. Can we still buy some?"
Another ghost chimed in, "Yeah, I don't think there are many pastries left. What if those of us at the back of the line run out of them by the time it's our turn?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Yunie smiled and glanced at the approximate number of people in line before reassuringly saying, "Don't worry, everyone will get their share. Those currently in line will definitely be able to buy something."
Upon hearing this, many of the ghosts at the back of the line felt a little relieved, but the ghosts at the very back of the line still stared anxiously at the pastries, looking at the ghosts in front of them and then at how many ghosts were behind them, calculating whether they could actually buy any.
After the boxed lunch business was running smoothly, Qin Yunie gave up her position to Lin Sui and went to help with the delivery.
She had only been gone a short while when several ghost messengers came in groups to buy pastries, including one of the ghost messengers who had come yesterday.
When the ghost messengers arrived, the previously noisy group of ghosts fell into complete silence, as if by magic.
Yesterday, the ghost messenger saw Qin Yune busy and greeted him with a smile, saying, "Boss Qin, we've come to buy pastries."
Another cute-looking ghost said, "I heard that Boss Qin is selling those super delicious pastries today. We were so tempted by them yesterday that our mouths were practically watering. So we rushed over to buy some during our shift change."
Upon hearing this, Qin Yunie quickly stepped forward with a smile and said, "Welcome."
After saying that, he turned to Lin Sui and said, "Lin Sui, prepare some pastries for the ghost messengers."
Lin Sui quickly agreed and began to pack several portions of pastries, three for each person.
Then Qin Yunie smiled and said to the ghost messengers, "If you want to eat, you can put your order in the group chat and I'll send it to you. Or you can order directly on the app, that way you won't have to make a special trip."
They then remembered that Boss Qin seemed to be in their group, but because he hadn't appeared for so long, they had even forgotten about it.
Could it be that Boss Qin saw their discussion in the group yesterday?
Qin Yunie didn't see it. Not long after she joined the group, she set it to not view, so although she was in the group, she didn't pay attention to the messages.
Then, the ghost messengers realized that Boss Qin seemed to be in the large group, but not in their small group.
The ghost messenger who had just spoken had a look of delight in his eyes and said with a big smile, "That's great, thank you in advance, Boss Qin. We saw that there were no pastries on the app today, so we came here specifically."
Qin Yunie suddenly remembered that because the quantity of pastries was limited, she had not put any pastries on the shelves at all today.
She quickly apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, the quantity of pastries is limited, so they're not on the shelves yet. Those who are queuing up in person are given priority."
The group of ghost messengers waved their hands dismissively, and one of them even chuckled and said, "We guessed it too."
Then, after paying the bill readily, they turned around and swaggered away.
Seeing this, the other ghosts returned to the queue and continued to wait in line.
However, their mood became increasingly tense. The ghost messengers had just bought a lot of pastries, which meant that fewer ghosts would be able to buy pastries, and they couldn't say anything about it.
The last ghost in line was so nervous he wanted to squeeze to the front, but that was obviously impossible. The ghosts in front of him would never agree to that; he was just one ghost and couldn't possibly defeat so many of them.
Soon, the pastries were sold out. The guy who had been nervous all day managed to buy the last piece. Even though it was only one piece, it was better than nothing!
You know, none of the people who came after him managed to buy one. Compared to them, he was already very lucky to have one!
Those who arrived late and missed out cried out, "Boss Qin, please make more pastries! Save one for us!"
Their mournful expressions inexplicably made Qin Yune feel a pang of conscience.
Qin Yunie looked at the remaining thirty or so ghosts who hadn't bought any pastries and were all staring at her expectantly. She said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. I'll make more another day."
Qin Yunie was helpless. She originally thought she had done enough, but she didn't expect it still wasn't enough.
Just then, a particularly cute little boy came up to Qin Yune. His chubby face and big, watery eyes looked at Qin Yune pitifully, and he asked in a childish voice, "Really, there's nothing left? There's not a single piece left?"
Looking at the child's expression, Qin Yune felt a little helpless. She sighed softly and said, "There really isn't any left. I even sold you the portion that I prepared for my employees."
After she finished speaking, she saw that the child's eyes were starting to redden and he looked like he was about to cry. She quickly bent down, bowed her head, and gently coaxed him, "Sweetie, don't cry. How about this, you can have priority to buy what you didn't get today next time?"
Upon hearing this, the child immediately stopped crying and smiled, holding up their little finger, saying, "You said it, pinky promise."
Qin Yunie quickly extended her finger and made a pinky promise with him.
The child happily disappeared into the group of ghosts.
Just as Qin Yunie was about to stand up, a voice suddenly called out, "Boss Qin."
Qin Yune got up and looked over. Unexpectedly, it was the old man who had arranged the ghost marriage for Xiao Yao'er last time. There was also a pretty girl standing next to him, who looked to be in her early twenties. She guessed that this was the Xiao Yao'er he was talking about.
The old man, leading his daughter, came to Qin Yune and said excitedly to the girl beside him, "Quickly, kowtow to Boss Qin! If it weren't for Boss Qin, you would still be being abused by that old widower Liu Qiao!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Yunie instinctively reached out to help, "Hey, no need..."
The girl obeyed and knelt down, kowtowing several times to Qin Yune, saying, "Thank you, Boss Qin, for saving my life!"
Qin Yunie quickly reached out and helped the girl up, saying, "That's enough, you don't need to drink anymore."
"Boss Qin, it really was my good-for-nothing son who fell into someone's trap and married her off! But he has already returned the money and found a master to settle the matter. A few days ago, Xiaoyao was still a little afraid to go out, but she has just gotten a little better, so I brought her here to thank you, Boss Qin. If it weren't for your help, I can't even imagine how difficult her future would have been." As he spoke, he couldn't help but wipe away his tears.
