Chapter 3: You can buy a house in the underworld!

Qin Yunie walked out of the bank clutching the passbook, looking at the sun outside, still feeling a sense of unreality.

Everything that happened today is just too dreamlike.

When she got home that evening, she found a lot of vegetables she had grown herself placed at the door; they were a gift from the villagers.

A perfectly good girl from such a wealthy family, after graduating from university, didn't stay in the big city, but instead ran back to her hometown to sell boxed lunches. The villagers guessed that she must have been wronged by the Qin family, and they felt sorry for this young girl.

Today this family brings her some food, tomorrow that family brings her some vegetables. If she's home, we chat with her for a bit; if she's not, we just leave it at her door.

Although they are not valuable items, they are all expressions of care.

Perfect timing! These vegetables can also be used for boxed lunches, and they are all pure, natural, and pollution-free fresh leafy greens from farms.

Before six o'clock the next day, Qin Yune got up and went to the vegetable market to buy the ingredients she needed.

After Qin Yunie bought the ingredients and went home to wash and prepare them, it was almost ten o'clock. She then started heating the oil in the wok and stir-frying the vegetables one by one.

Today I made stir-fried green peppers with pork, cabbage, and tiger-skin green peppers. I also stir-fried three portions of braised pork and sweet and sour pork separately, along with two vegetarian dishes. I specially packed them separately in different lunch boxes.

She dared not forget the dishes that the Great Emperor of the Eastern Peak had specifically requested.

After placing the prepared dishes onto the trolley, Qin Yune swallowed a Rejuvenation Pill.

In the blink of an eye, she was teleported to the underworld, in the same location as yesterday.

She had barely arrived when she discovered that quite a few ghosts were already waiting there. Some looked quite normal, while others were not so aesthetically pleasing.

The lure of money made Qin Yunie temporarily ignore the terrifying appearance of some of the ghosts, and she suppressed her fear and began to shout.

Before long, her stall was surrounded by customers.

"Boss, you've finally arrived! We thought you weren't going to hold the event today."

"Yes, I haven't had such delicious twice-cooked pork in years!"

Although these ghosts weren't very good-looking, they couldn't stop praising the lunchboxes she made.

Qin Yunie's fear gradually subsided, and a signature smile appeared on his face.

"Sorry I'm late. I buy fresh ingredients every day to make boxed lunches, so it took me a little longer."

As soon as she finished speaking, they rushed to announce how many boxed meals they wanted.

"I'd like a boxed lunch."

"I'll have one too."

"I want three servings."

"Don't worry, don't worry, we have them all."

Qin Yunie skillfully packed, boxed, and collected money, all in one smooth motion.

Thinking about the amount of today's earnings after conversion, Qin Yunie's heart couldn't help but leap with joy.

After buying the boxed meals, many people couldn't wait to stand next to the food stall and start eating.

"The owner's cooking skills are truly unparalleled." After saying that, he added with emotion, "It's so much better when I was alive. If I had more money, I would love to eat all kinds of delicious food in the world."

The person standing next to him retorted, "You talk like you're rich now."

One sentence silenced the other party completely.

You have no money when you're alive, and you still have no money when you die.

While alive, they work like corporate slaves; after death, in order to be reborn into a better life, they continue to work.

After packing up the boxed lunches that the surrounding ghosts wanted, Qin Yune listened to the conversation of the ghosts next to her when no one was around, and sensed that something was wrong.

Qin Yune asked, "Do you still have to work in the underworld?"

"That's right, otherwise where would we live and what would we eat? So many people come down every day, but there are only so many places to be reincarnated. We need to work to earn ghost money, rent a place to live, and wait for a place to be available. If you want to be reincarnated into a good place, you can spend ghost money to buy it. Otherwise, you can only wait for random allocation. Whether it's good or bad depends entirely on luck."

"However, if you don't want to be reincarnated, you can save up money to buy a house in the underworld, so you can live here forever."

Upon hearing this, Qin Yunie immediately perked up.

You can buy a house in the underworld!

You can even buy your way into being born into a better life!

If she earns more money, could she buy a house in the underworld earlier?!

When she gets old and dies, she'll be able to have a house to live in when she comes to the underworld!

She needs to buy a bigger one so that the aunties and uncles in the village will have a place to stay when they come down.

If she had more money, she could even buy a good family's birthplace!

You'll be born at your peak in your next life!

Qin Yune became more and more excited as she thought about it, which fueled her boundless passion for her lunchbox business!

She also wants to buy a storefront, but she doesn't know how high the property prices are here, or if there are any requirements.

For example... you have to be a ghost to buy it?

She'll have to ask him when the Black and White Impermanence come to collect the lunchbox.

During this time, several ghosts came and bought boxed lunches, and also asked if they sold incense.

Qin Yunie recalled that a ghost had asked her this question before, and she wondered if she should buy some incense to sell tomorrow.

Remembering that there were two ghosts beside her who hadn't yet answered what they had just said, she asked somewhat strangely, "Don't your families burn paper money for you? How come you don't have enough?"

He helplessly spread his hands and said, "I do burn incense, but they only give me money to burn during Qingming Festival and Chinese New Year. Besides, the exchange rate is different, and they deduct handling fees each time. In reality, what I get is only enough to cover the incense and rent for half a year. I have to earn the rest myself."

Qin Yunie: "...You can ask your family members in their dreams to burn more."

He cried out in grief and indignation: "Do you think we don't want to?! It costs money to send a message in a dream! The cost for one dream is as high as 500,000 ghost money!! There is also a limit to the number of times! I only earn 10,000 ghost money a month! And that's only because I'm a technician and my salary is decent, so I dare to go out and buy a boxed lunch."
