Chapter 178 The Shop Opens (Part 6)

The key to making mung bean soup is to cook it until it becomes mushy.

The next day, A-Mian bought a pound of yellow rock sugar. Having her own shop was especially convenient; she could cook soup right there in the shop. She also brought little A-Yue with her, tossing her mat in the backyard so the baby could play by herself.

Put mung beans in a pot of cold water. Once the water boils, remove them, rinse them with cold water, and bring them to a boil again. Then add yellow rock sugar.

Then she slowly simmered it, occasionally lifting the lid to check. Ah Mian stirred it with a large spoon and saw that the mung beans had all split open, so she knew it was cooked.

Amian ladled out two bowls to cool, and when she saw Xiaojing running towards her at the crossroads with a book basket on her back, she called out, "Perfect timing, come quick, there's mung bean soup to drink."

"Ah Mian, may I put a small table next to you?"

Are you selling things too?

Xiao Jing took out some folding fans from the basket. Some famous sayings were written on the surface of the fans, such as "No pain, no gain."

The two exchanged a knowing smile. Ah Mian's mung bean soup was priced at three coins a bowl, while Xiao Jing's paper fans were twenty-five coins each. Once the crowd dispersed from Master Li's courtyard, the two began to hawk their wares.

"Hey, give me a bowl!"

"This fan is nice too, it keeps you cool!"

"Old Zhao, don't be so polite with me, give me three bowls of mung bean soup!"

Luckily, A-Mian had prepared two buckets of mung bean soup, otherwise they would have been sold out in no time. Even so, after three incense sticks' worth of time, A-Mian's mung bean soup was sold out, and Xiao-Jing had also sold more than a dozen folding fans.

When A-Mian returned to the backyard, she immediately frowned. "Huh, whose dirty little kid is this? Why does he smell so bad?"

Little A-Yue was covered in mud, and now that her mother was disgusted, her eyes immediately welled up with tears. She wanted a hug, and A-Mian quickly grabbed her dirty little hand. Xiao Jing was still selling fans in the front yard, so there was no need to worry about anyone stealing money. She took down the wooden cover from the well in the backyard (there was a stone on top to prevent the naughty little A-Yue from opening the cover and falling in), filled a basin with water, and vigorously washed the baby.

After washing her, I carried A-Yue to a side room in the backyard. The room was simply furnished. There was a low wooden bed, which even a baby could climb on, a few bamboo baskets, and a screen. That was all.

"Luckily your father left your clothes here, otherwise little A-Yue would have been naked, aren't you ashamed?"

Amian threw all the dirty clothes into the special laundry basket, changed Amian's clothes, tied a little bun on her head, and then took her to the front yard to play.

Walking into the front yard, I saw another person next to Meng Jing, the jinx I had seen before.

Meng Jing took the folding fan and slapped the man's hand several times, angrily saying, "Go apologize to my sister-in-law!"

A-Mian was startled; she had never known Meng Jing could be so fierce. The jinx, however, wasn't particularly annoyed. Holding a brown sugar steamed cake wrapped in oil paper, he walked up to A-Mian and stammered, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have poured leaves on your heads last time."

Meng Jing snorted from the side.

The jinx continued speaking, but his speech was very awkward, each word barely audible: "This is an apology, something to give you to eat."

Little Yue had already taken the brown sugar steamed cake, and A Mian smiled and said, "Alright then, don't do that again."

After the jinx apologized, she ran back to Meng Jing's side, her face beaming with "Praise me!" Meng Jing nodded, and the two children finally made up and started eating steamed cake.

Do you still sell mung bean soup here?

A-Mian turned her head and saw that it was actually Master Li. Upon closer inspection, she noticed that his expression seemed to be frozen on his face, always amiable, and his words were very pleasant, "Young Master, your child is so cute."

"I'm sorry, everything is sold out today. I'll prepare more tomorrow."

Ah Mian was poised and elegant. When Master Li was swept over by her dark eyes, a strange feeling suddenly ran through him, as if...

It was as if she could see right through him and knew his true identity at a glance.

Master Li is certainly not a real master.

Before he transmigrated, his name was Li Jianguo, he was forty years old, and he was a salesman for a telemarketing company.

Li Jianguo was born in a rural area and has worked many jobs over the years. When he was young, he worked as a street promoter and salesman. He was enterprising, bold, and shameless. He earned his first pot of gold by shining shoes for people at the train station.

Not only did they buy a house, but they also got married and had a child.

As I got older, after the age of thirty-four, I gradually felt powerless. My performance was always among the bottom few, and I was laid off several times. After that, I started selling insurance.

When his income plummeted, his wife became pregnant with their second child. Left with no other choice, he could only frantically send out resumes like he had done twenty years ago. In the end, he got a job at a small, not-so-formal company, where his job mainly involved making sales calls.

The salary consists of a base salary plus commission, with the commission accounting for 80%. In order to make his performance stand out, Li Jianguo works from early morning to late at night and smokes three packs of cigarettes a day.

Just when he was about to close a deal with a major client, somehow, he suddenly found himself in this strange world.

"Ah. Well then, could I order a bucket from you and have it delivered to my place tomorrow?" Li Jianguo dismissed the ridiculous thought in his mind. Even if the young woman in front of him wasn't from ancient times, she would be at most around twenty years old even in modern times.

To middle-aged men like Li Jianguo, it was no different from looking after a kindergarten child; there was nothing to worry about.

"Sure, one bucket is five hundred coins, I'll carry it to you then."

"Give me a discount, I'm buying so much, I'll be a regular customer from now on."

After some haggling, the price was finally settled at four hundred and fifty coins.

As Li Jianguo was about to leave, A Mian called out to him, "You need to pay a deposit first."

"Why are you so inflexible, young lady? My shop is right next door, do you think it'll run away from you..."

Master Li's mouth never stopped, and Ah Mian was quite helpless when doing business with this kind of person. Often, after the other party had said ten sentences, she would slowly utter a sentence: "This really can't be sold."

No matter what Li Jianguo said, A Mian insisted on receiving half of the deposit first.

"Look, count them, don't get it wrong. And to say something you might not like to hear, you really should sign up for one of my classes." Li Jianguo also realized that the person in front of him was very stubborn, and it was usually very difficult to persuade such a person with words.

"I'll have someone move it there tomorrow afternoon, don't worry."

Aside from doing business, Ah Mian completely ignored him.

After Li Jianguo left, people kept coming in to ask how much the mung bean soup cost.

These are the waiters and waiters. After asking the price, they were astonished. A pound of mung beans cost less than twenty coins. This bowl is not even as good as cooking it at home!
