Ah Mian was very curious about everything in the hotel room.
Mineral water bottles, air conditioner remotes, light switches, refrigerators, projectors... she can play with each of these things for a long time until she figures out how to use them.
Meng Chijian left her there to play by herself, and despite the waiter's slightly disdainful look that seemed to say, "Are you a country bumpkin?", he calmly inquired about the usage of "bathroom" and "toilet".
After figuring it out, he realized that Ah Mian was temporarily absorbed in her own world, so he said, "I'm going out to buy something. Don't leave the room."
Amian lay on the sofa fiddling with the remote control, absentmindedly replying, "Oh."
After playing for an unknown amount of time, A-Mian suddenly realized that Meng Chijian hadn't returned. Could he be lost? "This place is so big, what if he really can't find his way back? What should we do then?"
Ah Mian wanted to go out to find him, but she remembered his words telling her not to leave. She was caught in a dilemma, so she ran to the window and tried to find his figure in the small black dot.
But even after my eyes were sore from looking, there was still no sign of it.
Could there be bad people here? Did they kidnap him to be a slave? Ah Mian felt annoyed. She should have known better than to just play with that thing that could project "colorful shadow puppets".
She thought she would wait another hour, and if Meng Chijian still hadn't returned, she would go out to look for him.
She waited and waited, but finally couldn't sit still any longer. She tried her best to calm down and decided to go to the "lobby" to ask if anyone had seen him return.
Knock knock knock.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
A-Mian was startled. She was about to open the door when she realized something was wrong. She tiptoed and peered through a small hole in the door. What she saw made her hold her breath. It was the man she had met in the lobby.
A-Mian remained silent. The person behind the door knocked a few times, and when they realized it wasn't this room, they went to the door next to it.
The man in the suit didn't know which room Ah Mian lived in; he only saw that the floor number on the panel after they entered the elevator was "15." After that, he sat on the sofa in the lobby, recalling Ah Mian's every move, feeling a bit like he had fallen in love at first sight back in school.
So after he saw the strange man in ancient costume leave, he waited for two hours, still hoping to try his luck on the fifteenth floor. If someone opened the door but it wasn't Ah Mian, he would say, "I was looking for a friend and accidentally knocked on the wrong door."
When he knocked on the next door, someone opened it and berated him harshly.
Only then did he give up his thoughts.
Meng Chijian returned to the hotel, carrying a suitcase and a plastic bag, sweating profusely, and swiped his room card to open the door.
The room was pitch black. "Ah Mian?"
A noise came from inside the closet. Ah Mian held a clothes hanger in her left hand and a kettle full of hot water in her right. Strands of her hair clung to her face, clearly she had been cooped up for a long time. "You're finally back. There was a bad guy! That person in the living room ran up and knocked on the door. I was afraid he would break in..."
“My heart almost stopped just now,” Meng Chijian quickly put his things down and tucked her hair behind her ear. “You did a great job, that’s how it should be.”
Amian was still sullen: "Why were you gone for so long?"
"I want to buy some clothes that locals wear. The clothes sold in that shopping mall aren't very good." Meng Chijian browsed the women's clothing section for a while and felt that although the fabric of those clothes was not bad, they were all extremely small, the styles were too daring, and they were not very convenient for A-Mian to move around in. So he inquired and took the bus to the wholesale market.
"These clothes are all pure cotton. Oh, and I also bought a very convenient suitcase."
Amian nodded and curiously took out the clothes from the box. It has to be said that Meng Chijian's taste was very limited. The box was full of short-sleeved shirts and long pants, the only difference being the size. He wore the big ones, and Amian wore the small ones.
"Why isn't there a skirt?" A-Mian turned her head, thinking that skirts were the most convenient clothes.
"We need to try on the dress; let's go buy it together tomorrow."
Too many things happened that day. Meng Chijian went to the bathroom and, as he had learned from the room attendant, first put a disposable bath bag in the bathtub and filled it with hot water.
The other plastic bag contained food, all kinds of fruits that Ah Mian had never seen before, red, yellow, and orange. Although there were only a few of each, they were arranged together to fill the bag and looked very nice.
The shop owner had specifically put labels on the fruit, and Ah Mian started to identify them: "Strawberries, grapefruit (you have to peel them before you can eat them), jackfruit, bananas, mangoes, and durian in a box... Ugh, why does it smell so bad... You bought bad fruit!"
"That's how the boss said. Take a shower before you eat, come over here."
When A-Mian entered the bathroom, she was still somewhat skeptical. Meng Chijian said, "You don't know how to use the water heater, let's do it together."
"I'm so tired."
"What are you thinking? I'm not doing anything."
"Then you scrub my back!"
Meng Chijian kept his word and steadily lifted her up. He was a very restrained person, especially in the years since he married A-Mian. Sometimes, they didn't necessarily have to do anything; just being close to each other was enough for them. A-Mian knew his quirk; he liked to pamper her like a cat, and seemed to derive a lot of pleasure from it.
If it were anyone else, Ah Mian would definitely not allow herself to be handled like this, but with this strange guy, she could only let him be.
There were many bottles in the bathroom. A-Mian looked through them and saw small patterns of water being poured on her body, so they must have been used to wipe her body.
"So many bubbles, smells so good. Let me put some on you too."
This bathroom is even better than theirs! It's never cold inside, and the hot water is unlimited, so you don't have to refill it.
