Chapter 28 Fishing (Part 1)

A-Mian picked up an egg from the henhouse and carefully placed it in a porcelain bowl in the kitchen.

When she first learned that she would have stomach pains every month, she was both annoyed and angry.

However, the food at home has improved these past few days. Not only are there stewed chickens, but there's also sweet brown sugar water to drink.

This made her feel a little uneasy, as if things weren't so bad after all.

Once her stomach felt better, Ah Mian went out to find something to eat.

As usual, she led Adou by the hand, and when they arrived at the riverbank, the water level had indeed dropped considerably, and fish could be seen swimming in the clear water from time to time.

She looked around; it was afternoon, and there was no one around.

Ah Mian was relieved, took off her shoes, and rolled up her trouser legs.

The locals believe that there is a river god in the river, and they are not allowed to catch carp in the river without permission.

If the river god is angered, a severe drought the following year would be a terrible disaster.

“Lord River God, I am Lu Amian. I have never done anything wrong and have always been good-hearted…” Amian knelt on the grass and prayed sincerely, “My family is really out of money and food, and I had no choice but to resort to this. I only caught a few big fish to feed my family. I would never have caught fish that were not as long as my hand. Please do not blame me, Lord River God.”

She banged her head a few times before taking a bamboo basket and going down to the river to catch fish.

These fish had never been caught before. Although they were slippery, they were also quite clumsy. Ah Mian drove them between two large rocks, slowly lifted the bamboo basket, and caught three or four fish.

She threw out two small fish and covered the bamboo basket with several large lotus leaves to make sure no one could see what was inside.

Just as I was about to go home, I suddenly caught a glimpse of a large, dark object upstream.

Lu Amian became curious, went ashore, put on her shoes, and ran over to take a look.

It was a man!

The man was dressed in strange clothes, and blood was slowly flowing from his forehead, which looked like he was about to die.

Amian rushed over and struggled to drag the person ashore, then slapped the person's cheeks hard.

Wake up!

After repeated patting, the person actually woke up slowly, speaking with a strange accent, but it was still understandable upon closer listening.

"Where am I...?"

"The riverbank behind our village."

The man opened his eyes, his gaze gradually focusing. "Your clothes... what year is it now?"

Ah Mian thought he was a simpleton from another village, so she honestly told him the answer.

The man's eyes gleamed with extreme joy, and he uttered strange words: "My ship has sailed—I really sailed!!"

The next second, the man grabbed Ah Mian's sleeve tightly.

Ah Mian frowned for a moment; normally, she would have just left.

However, she had just told the River God that she was a kind and good person, and now this person suddenly appeared in the river. Who knows if it was a test from the River God?

Amian only met Hanzi once, back in Lujia Village.

People with simple minds are usually incredibly strong, mentally unstable, and extremely stubborn.

"By the way, gunpowder and glass haven't been invented yet, have they? And who's the emperor...? Why are you looking at me like that?" The man muttered a few words under his breath, his gaze lingering on A-Mian's face. "You're quite pretty, probably either the female lead or the second female lead... Oh dear, my head hurts so much. Could you be my wife? Take your husband home quickly..."
