Chen Yu has already planned his time and will do some errands during the ward rounds. After returning, he can do some brainless and tedious work, such as pasting test reports, printing medical orders, running errands for signatures, etc.
Mulian stood by the window, tightened her white coat, rubbed her hands, picked up the medical record book on the table, and sighed. Interns are just errand runners, they are the ones who get paid but are not paid for it. The whole medical system is so disgusting, and it has also planted an invisible bomb for doctors and interns.
Suddenly, at the elevator corner, two childish voices plunged Mulian into deep thought. It was truly bizarre. She didn't even have the same opinions as those two children. When had she become so horribly assimilated? She just followed the crowd, completely devoid of any opinion.
"Dignity and life, which one would you choose?"
A: "Of course it's dignity. A life without dignity is incomplete and meaningless. Living is worse than death."
B: "Of course it's life. When you die, everything is gone. Only when you are alive can you have hope. Apart from life and death, everything else is trivial."
A: "Some people are alive but he's already dead. Some people are dead, but he lives on in everyone's heart. Look at Yu Qian, who said, 'I'm not afraid of being torn to pieces, I just want to leave my innocence in the world.' He was an honest and upright official, deeply loved by the people. If you live like him and do good deeds, you will gain the respect and love of others."
B: "He died a violent death."
A: "Though dead, the world knows their deeds, and they live on in everyone's heart. There's also Qian Ao, the nobleman of Qi who refused to be fed; Zhu Ziqing, who refused to eat American "relief food"; Wen Tianxiang, who refused to surrender after being captured, leaving behind the noble sentiment "Since ancient times, everyone has to die, but I will leave my loyalty to shine through history"; Gou Jian, who believed that "God will not disappoint those who work hard, and even after sleeping on firewood and tasting gall, three thousand Yue soldiers can conquer Wu." And... "
B: "They all died violent deaths."
A frustrated voice shrieked in a loud retort.
A: "Gou Jian is not."
Just as Mulian was listening attentively, a hand appeared behind her and gently placed on her shoulder.
Mulian screamed in fear, "Ah~."
The oncology department itself is full of strange and bizarre things. It's really scary. Every time I step into the department, I feel like I'm exploring a secret room. The patients, suffering from chronic malnutrition and poor sleep quality, look like ghosts, their voices hoarse and they look sickly. Add to that the inconvenience of washing in the hospital, the shared toilets, and the poor personal hygiene, and it really feels like that.
Mulian hit Senior Brother Shizhu, very dissatisfied. What happened to Goujian? Didn't he die a violent death?
Mulian turned to head for the elevator, wanting to ask, who of the two of them finally convinced the other? Which is more important, life or dignity?
As soon as Mulian took a step forward, an annoying hand immediately blocked her way.
Mulian looked at Shizhu in confusion, looking like he really deserved a beating.
Shizhu smiled wickedly, gloating, "The director asked you to go on ward rounds."
Mu Lian rolled her eyes. Her teacher asked her to deliver the medical records and would not let her go back at all. Naturally, her teacher would stand in the way of the director.
Shizhu smiled gloatingly, "Brother Yu has to go to a meeting and has left. There is no one to report your patients to. The director wants you to go back."
Mulian immediately took the medical records and ran towards the ward. After arriving there, she regretted it very much because it was not what she expected.
Today's ward rounds are being held, and the director requires every intern and resident to participate. Today's focus is on checking three patients: lung cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer.
The general ward round is led by the director, followed by the deputy director and the attending physician, and finally the residents and interns. A group of people go to the ward to see the patients.
Mulian looked at the patients lying in bed under the dim light, wrapped tightly in blankets, curled up in discomfort, their bodies either pierced with indwelling needles, urinary catheters, or drainage bags. Their eyes were gloomy, staring at the ceiling. Trapped in this small room every day, they listened to the constant coming and going of footsteps, the noise, the cries of grief, day and night. What was the point of living in this human hell? Why even try to live?
"Who is responsible for this patient?"
The director looked at Bai Yu with cold eyes and asked Bai Yu in a puzzled tone.
The director's voice interrupted Mulian's thoughts. A group of people gathered around the bed of a 70-year-old woman. They were so dense that there were three circles inside and outside, making it impossible to get through.
Bai Yu shook his head and said gently, "It's none of my business."
The director flew into a rage. "How dare you talk like that in front of a patient? What do you mean it's not your responsibility? Every doctor in the general practice department is responsible for every patient."
The director's words scared everyone. They were stunned and dared not speak, for fear that the director would divert his anger and they would suffer innocent consequences.
Bai Yu was startled, not understanding what was wrong with his answer. This patient was indeed not under his care. He was confused for a moment and muttered quietly, "This patient is not under my care."
The director flew into a rage, exaggerating the issue and pointing at Bai Yu without any hesitation. "You have an attitude problem and you don't understand what people are saying. What kind of doctor are you?"
Bai Yu was hit hard, he was devastated and lowered his head, wondering what he was thinking about.
The director looked at Bai Yu, who looked like a puppy with drooping ears, and was very proud. So what if he was a doctor? He was still standing there under the scolding.
The director's tone became much calmer, and he asked, "Who's in charge of the bed?"
Mu Lian rolled her eyes. The director was really looking for trouble. No wonder she was so narrow-minded that she was afraid that Bai Yu would surpass her and take her place in the future.
Everyone looked at Mulian and couldn't help laughing. The junior sister was very brave and even dared to roll her eyes in front of the director.
When the director saw Mulian rolling her eyes, she immediately flew into a rage. She pointed her index finger at Mulian, shaking slightly with anger. "What's your attitude?"
