Chapter Ten: Two Chancellors Regent

The Eastern Palace, the Crown Prince's bedroom.

"Your Highness, why not capture the Second Prince as well?"

The head of the guards asked Gu Yifeng a question.

"Do you think the second son is so easy to manipulate? Even I have a way to clear my name from prison, so why doesn't he have any tricks up his sleeve?"

Gu Yifeng simply shook his head in response, then began packing his bags, preparing some paper, ink, brushes, and inkstones, as well as a change of clothes, making as if he were about to leave the East Palace.

"Your Highness, Your Highness, where are you going!"

Upon seeing Gu Yifeng's actions, the head of the guards immediately panicked, stopped him, and hurriedly asked.

"Go back to the Heavenly Prison, what are you doing here?"

Gu Yifeng responded quite naturally upon hearing this.

"temple……"

The guard wanted to ask something more, but Gu Yifeng stopped him.

"You have two choices: first, go to the imperial prison with me; second, go and discuss with Chief Eunuch Changfu that you will not attend court tomorrow."

After saying this, Gu Yifeng took his luggage and went back to the prison.

By the time the head of the guards came to his senses, Gu Yifeng had already returned to the prison, this time surrounded by a group of jailers as he returned to his cell.

These jailers dared not disobey the Crown Prince's orders, but now that the Crown Prince had been authorized by the old emperor to govern, it would be bad if something went wrong in the imperial prison.

Therefore, Gu Yifeng's prison has been renovated and is now brand new. The original grassy floor has been replaced with pure cotton, and the bed is a brand new jade bed with soft padding.

"Alright, alright, you may leave. Don't worry, if anyone dares to punish you, I'll send them to the imperial prison as well."

Gu Yifeng smiled slightly, dismissed the jailers, and then sat cross-legged on the bed, closed his eyes to rest and nourish his acupoints.

As the saying goes, spiritual practice knows no days or months. By the time he regained consciousness, a night had passed and the sun was just rising.

On the first day of the new day, Gu Yifeng's first thing to do was to eagerly activate the system to sign in.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, for completing the sign-in and obtaining the magic weapon - Mirror of Insightful Insight."

The system's cold voice rang out, and then a piece of glass the size of an eye fell into my hand.

Feeling the cool touch of the glass shard, Gu Yifeng immediately placed it in front of him, sending a wisp of spiritual energy into it, instantly activating it.

The next moment, the world before his eyes suddenly changed. Through the glass shards, he could see that it was still the same prison cell, but the scene was that of his cultivation session just a day earlier.

Upon seeing this, Gu Yifeng immediately understood. His spiritual energy surged forth, and the scene in the glass shard began to rewind. The more spiritual energy he output, the further forward the scene moved.

In his eyes, the past events are as if he has traveled back in time to see them; this is what it means to have perfect insight!

Nothing is more convincing than seeing it with your own eyes.

Gu Yifeng immediately put the lens away. Just as he stood up and stretched his body, a commotion came from outside the prison.

"Your Highness! My very Prince! How can you remain in the imperial prison? My ancestor, please come with me to court!"

Chang Fu's voice came through, filled with anxiety. He quickly ran to Gu Yifeng and ordered the jailer to unlock the door.

"What's the matter with such a panic? Have the assassins of the Great Chu been captured?"

Gu Yifeng chuckled upon hearing this and couldn't help but ask.

"Oh dear, Your Highness, His Majesty just said yesterday that he would temporarily entrust the governance of the country to the Crown Prince. How could you forget? It's your turn to attend court today, Crown Prince. I've already kept those ministers waiting for half an hour."

Seeing this, Chang Fu became even more anxious and grabbed Gu Yifeng's hand, trying to walk out of the prison, but was pulled back by a resistance.

"No, no, no. I will not leave until the matter of the assassin is thoroughly investigated."

Gu Yifeng refused three times in a row, directly interrupting Chang Fu, pulling his hand away, and sitting back on the bed.

Before Chang Fu could say anything, another tremor came from outside the prison, accompanied by the voices of a group of people, instantly making the once silent prison lively.

The first person to lead the way was Qin Shan, the leader of Gu Yifeng's personal guards.

Following them were Grand Secretary Yang, the other Grand Secretaries of the Cabinet, the Censorate officials, the Left and Right Chancellors, the Founding Generals...

Half of the court officials were now crowding around Gu Yifeng's cell, making the already cramped space feel even more confined.

"Qin Shan, I only gave you two options, and you didn't choose either. Why did you have to make things difficult for me?"

Gu Yifeng was so angry at Qin Shan's actions that he felt a toothache. He couldn't help but turn to Qin Shan and grit his teeth to ask.

"Your Highness is innocent! If Your Highness is still angry, even if you want me to be torn to pieces, that would be fine. I know that Your Highness is filled with resentment and must vent it. Today, all the civil and military officials should be here to bear witness for Your Highness!"

Upon hearing this, Qin Shan immediately knelt down and uttered eloquent and sincere words.

"Fine, I'll deal with you later. Everyone, thank you for waiting today. Go back now. Since Father is not here, there is no need to attend court."

Gu Yifeng waved his hand, then, as if nothing had happened, addressed the assembled ministers.

Upon hearing this, all the officials, including Chang Fu, knelt down in obeisance.

"Your Highness, please forgive us! We were misled by appearances and failed to recognize the evil schemes of the villains, thus wronging Your Majesty. We deserve punishment. We will accept whatever measures Your Highness takes!"

Grand Secretary Yang spoke first, not because Quan Guyifeng had returned, but because he had confessed his guilt and accepted punishment.

Upon hearing this, the other ministers all turned their heads, secretly cursing in their hearts.

"Grand Secretary Yang, we are all innocent victims of this calamity, so why should we be punished? Since Your Highness is a ruler, you should be magnanimous. Please consider the well-being of the nation, leave the prison, and go to the Council Hall for court!"
