Chapter Twenty-Six: A Murderous Scheme in the Suburbs of Beijing

Under this sword strike, the withered leaves also changed. The originally yellow leaves turned gray, then green, and finally yellow again before turning into powder and shattering.

This is the true function of the "Longering Sword" technique: it can extend and double the power of a single sword strike, allowing the opponent to experience the pain of an entire cycle.

The combination of a sword strike with varying speed, unpredictable entry points, and power that inflicts double the pain makes it arguably the strongest sword technique.

And this is merely the first strike in the Sword Technique of Time.

However, comprehending or visualizing something in one's consciousness does not mean true mastery. After withdrawing from the visualization, Gu Yifeng directly summoned the external form of the Mountain and River Sword, held it in his hand, and swung it repeatedly.

With just a repetitive motion, slightly imbued with his spiritual energy, he continuously thrust and swung it from his hand, exhausting all his spiritual energy within an hour.

This shows how much spiritual energy this sword, which has been used for so long, consumes.

According to Gu Yifeng's estimation, if he were to unleash this sword strike with all his might, it would consume at least 50% of his spiritual power, not even counting the mental strain it would cause.

After all, the power of time is not something that everyone can easily grasp and use. To unleash such heaven-defying power, one naturally needs to pay a corresponding price.

Throughout the day, the entire capital city of Da Gan seemed unusually quiet. No one dared to disturb Gu Yifeng's cultivation. Apart from the time when a group of ministers came with memorials while he was listening to the news, no one dared to bother him at other times.

After all, the methods he, the Crown Prince, has employed are nothing short of ruthless; in just one night, he has dealt a blow to several of the Second Prince's key figures.

Anyone who dares to interrupt Gu Yifeng's cultivation is simply asking for trouble.

He didn't stop until after midnight and started activating the system to sign in.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, you have successfully checked in and obtained the top-grade weapon - Longquan Sword."

A system voice flashed by, and then a long sword with a pale gold body fell into Gu Yifeng's arms. The sword body was like a dragon's body, with silver dragon scales on it, and the hilt was shaped like a dragon's head. A purple gemstone was inlaid on the hilt, which was quite beautiful.

The longsword in his hand felt so heavy that he couldn't help but swing it. Without even using his spiritual power, a tiny sword light shot out and landed on the wall of the prison, leaving a shallow sword mark.

"What a sharp sword!"

Gu Yifeng couldn't help but sigh. You have to know that the Heavenly Prison was built with the full strength of the entire nation. Every single brick and tile is capable of withstanding a full-force attack from a cultivator at the Condensation Realm.

Who knew that the Longquan sword could leave a scratch on the wall with just a light stroke?

Gu Yifeng was naturally overjoyed at the sight of such a precious sword. He immediately took out a scabbard from his Qiankun bag, put the Longquan sword inside, and fastened it to his waist.

After putting away the Longquan sword, he sat cross-legged on the bed and began to cultivate with his eyes closed. Not knowing what might happen in the morning, he naturally wanted to ensure that he was in perfect condition at all times.

...

Nothing happened that night. When Gu Yifeng woke up, the sun had just risen. Sensing the time, he prepared to begin practicing the Time Sword Technique. At this moment, Chi Liancheng walked in with a confident look on his face.

"Your Highness, it's done. The message has been sent out. We just need to send Shadow to the dense forest on the outskirts of the capital to receive the message. He has agreed and we will meet in the forest at noon today."

Chi Liancheng got straight to the point, informing them of the results of his planning the previous day.

"Okay, let's set off now."

Gu Yifeng nodded slightly, a flash of excitement crossing his eyes. The two exchanged a glance and then left the prison.

Under the cover of Chilian City, the Imperial Guards had prepared a carriage to take the two out of the palace and eastward out of the capital into the dense forest.

Based on the location prepared by Chi Liancheng, Gu Yifeng entered the dense forest, activated his Eye of Concealment, and immediately concealed his aura, making him undetectable even to the naked eye.

To be on the safe side, Chi Liancheng even found at least five of his trusted subordinates, all of whom were at the Opening Mansion Realm, to lie in ambush, waiting for Shadow to arrive.

The morning passed in the blink of an eye, and just as noon approached, a cold wind swept through the dense forest in the suburbs.

Then a dark figure slowly emerged from the ground and transformed into a human form.

"Manager, I'm here now, aren't you coming out?"

The shadowy figure spoke in a hoarse voice, carrying a hint of gloom, his eyes scanning the surroundings as if sensing something.

"Hehehe, I'm here, I'm here. How could I not come when Lord Shadow graces my humble establishment with his presence?"

Chi Liancheng's slightly youthful voice rang out, followed by his disguised, short figure emerging from the dense forest and approaching the black-clad figure, handing him a scroll.

The shadowy figure remained noncommittal upon hearing Chi Liancheng's words, clearly acknowledging his identity as a shadow. He took the scroll, scanned it with his spiritual sense to confirm it was the work of the underground intelligence network, and then prepared to turn and leave.

"Sir, the terms we agreed on before..."

Seeing that the shadow was about to leave, Chi Liancheng quickly took two steps forward, and with a swift movement of his right hand, he passed right through the black figure's chest as if it were an illusion. The scroll also fell to the ground at the same time.

The next moment, the black figure disappeared, and not far away, an old man dressed in a black robe slowly walked out.

"You're the first person to ask me for a tip."

The old man spoke coldly, his voice as hoarse as before. Who else could it be but Shadow?

"But it's definitely not the last one."

Chi Liancheng sneered and suddenly unleashed a punch. His disguise fell off, and he transformed into his original form, swinging it at the shadows. Almost simultaneously, the entire dense forest was enveloped by a pillar of crimson light.

"We've been waiting for you!"

Shadow seemed unsurprised by Chi Liancheng's appearance. He sneered, tossed the scroll aside, and then threw out a punch.

The two men's fists collided, instantly unleashing a violent shockwave. Sonic booms echoed around them, destroying all the trees within the pillar of light. However, neither of them released their force and continued their fight.

The crimson pillar of light was a barrier that Chi Liancheng had set up long ago. Within the barrier, all teleportation techniques would be rendered ineffective, in order to prevent the shadow from escaping.

However, he did not expect that Shadow had the same idea. He had already recognized his methods, but only wanted to face him in a proper battle so that they could settle things once and for all.

Gu Yifeng secretly observed them, his Hidden Eyes activating on their own. He quickly discerned their cultivation levels, finding them both to be at the peak of the late-stage Opening Mansion Realm, a truly evenly matched contest.

Just as he was about to make his move with peace of mind, he discovered that there was another piece of information about his cultivation level in his field of vision: his cultivation level was in the late stage of the Opening Mansion Realm!

The message was right behind the shadows, its intent clear.
