“I’ll go with you too.”
Upon learning that Gao Jun was moving his entire family to Leopard Court, Quan Bu took the initiative to approach Gao Chun and shared his thoughts.
Gao Chun thought he was worried that the workshop would be shut down and the workers would be laid off, so he patted him on the shoulder with a smile and said not to worry, the workshop would continue to operate.
But Dogstep didn't think that way; he simply wanted to leave Deerhead Fortress, as Leopard Court was clearly safer.
Gao Chun frowned when he saw Quan Bu's insistence: "You want to leave the workshop and come with us to Leopard Court?"
"Yes, I've longed to go to Leopard Court since I was a child, wanting to make my mark there, but due to some objective factors, I've never been able to." Quanbu still wanted to leave.
Gao Chun was silent. His workshop produced civilian products. He was very experienced in dog-walking techniques and had come up with many novel ideas.
Therefore, Gao Chun values him highly and is unwilling for him to leave the workshop. Even though he cannot decide the fate of others, the workshop will undoubtedly be better off with him around.
In the end, Gao Chun compromised: "Sigh, since you insist, you can set off with us."
He has convinced his wife and children to leave with his second uncle, and his parents will also be taken along.
Now that his younger brother has become a distinguished nobleman, Gao Chun, though unwilling to leave Deerhead Fortress, could not refuse his brother's kindness.
"Maybe I'll open another workshop in Leopard Court. You can come and help me then, and I'll give you even better treatment than you have now," Gao Chun said, trying his best to win him over.
Quanbu only said he needed to think about it. He went to Leopard Court hoping to make a name for himself, which made Gao Chun laugh heartily.
Who wasn't like that when they were young? Gao Chun once thought about joining the army when he was young, but he gave up the idea of going far away because his parents were getting old.
Five days later, the Gao family packed their belongings and made arrangements for everything at home. Gao Jun found a buyer and sold all of the family's assets.
The family planned to leave Deerhead Castle by special train, a journey that would only take a day to reach Leopard Court.
However, Quanbu was an undocumented worker without identification. Gao Chun asked someone to get him one on the black market in Lutoubao, and even asked Quanbu for his opinion.
He has officially changed his name to Gao Quan, disguised himself as a member of the Gao family, and left with them.
That night, Gao Chun hosted a banquet for his old friends and supervisors from the workshop, and the group drank all night at a tavern.
Gao Chun, with his arm around Gao Quan's shoulder, told everyone that he wanted to take Gao Quan with him to Leopard Court, and that if any new businesses were established in Leopard Court in the future, he hoped that everyone would go there.
Gao Quan remained silent throughout, plotting how to evade the captain's pursuit. He planned to travel by special train, believing the captain wouldn't be able to catch him.
Even before boarding the special train, Gao Quan was still nervous. Gao Chun patted him on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, come with us to Leopard Court. We can look out for each other in the future."
Gao Quan nodded. Before leaving, he inadvertently saw Gao Jun, who was helping his expensive parents into the car, secretly sizing him up.
"Brother, why did you take him with you?" Gao Jun pulled Gao Chun aside and asked him why he did this.
“He is the backbone of the workshop. Although we only spent more than ten days together, he has indeed helped the workshop a lot. Now that he is going to Leopard Court, I can’t refuse.”
Gao Jun said, "He is an undocumented worker with an unknown background. I'm afraid he might be a fugitive. It would be easy to find out if he got on the special train. There are psychics with sensory abilities on the train."
Gao Chun didn't understand any of this either, and immediately said worriedly, "Then what should we do? He can't get into trouble. Why don't you take Mom and Dad and go first, and I'll go with him in the freight truck?"
Gao Jun laughed and said, "That's not necessary..."
If Gao Quan's identity were discovered on the special train, he could easily use his military merit to cover it up, not to worry his elder brother.
However, Gao Jun still felt a bit wary of Gao Quan. This man was determined to go to Leopard Court, and no one could stop him. He wondered what his purpose was.
Gao Quan got on the bus anyway. He noticed that Gao Jun was looking him up and down more and more frequently, which made him feel a little awkward. So he took the initiative to strike up a conversation.
“I’ve been to the Icefield Battlefield.” Gao Quan proactively revealed his hand; he had observed the Leopard Army in the Icefield for many years and might know the Leopard Army system even better than Gao Jun.
"Oh? Which unit?" Gao Jun was indeed drawn in by his topic and couldn't help but glance at Gao Quan.
Gao Quan casually mentioned a unit number, which matched the unit number he had told Gao Chun before, because the 24th Army Group and the 1st Main Force were not related and were not on the same line.
However, he underestimated Gao Jun's understanding of the Leopard Army system. This man had served as an officer in the Guard Brigade and had been to many places, so he knew more about it.
"Do you know the deputy brigade commander of the 3rd Brigade of the 24th Army Group?" Gao Jun's question stumped Gao Quan.
Although he knew the unit designations and organizational structures of each unit like the back of his hand, and could even tell Gao Jun how many battles they had fought and where they had fought...
He even knew the commander of the 24th Army Group and the corps commander, but Gao Jun directly asked for the name of the deputy brigade commander of the 3rd Brigade and asked if he knew him.
Gao Quan shook his head: "I was once assigned to an independent brigade by the City-State Alliance. I was just a lowly soldier and didn't know anyone in the Third Brigade."
Gao Jun gave him a meaningful look, leaned closer and whispered, "You don't need to lie to me. My elder brother is taking you to Leopard Court. I hope you won't get close to my family after you get off the train."
Gao Quan was stunned, his heart sinking to the bottom. He had been exposed after all.
His identity in the workshop was that of an undocumented worker. Although he claimed to be a soldier, which could easily deceive Gao Chun, it would not be easy to deceive Gao Jun.
“I’ve been to many military units, and the 24th Army Group doesn’t have a 3rd Brigade at all.” Gao Jun glanced at Gao Quan indifferently, easily exposing his lie.
Gao Quan was startled and gave an awkward smile: "I have never served in the military, but I have been to the Ice Field battlefield, that is the truth."
